Abstract:Based on fractal theory and impact assessment, this paper analyzes highway network's own growth and its impact on regional development, which are regarded as an organic integrity, and conducts an empirical research on regional highway network's growth in Yixing City, Jiangsu Province in expectation of a quantitative result that is all-round, justifiable and spatial-temporal characterized. During the process of indexes calculation and development analysis on highway network of Yixing in 1996, 2000 and 2002, several indexes, such as integrated highway network density, fractal dimension, contribution ration of national economic growth, emission flux of traffic flow pollutant and degree of landscape fragmentation, are selected and GIS spatial analysis methods are employed. Conclusions are drawn from the analysis that the highway network construction made a great progress since 1996 in Yixing City, furthermore, its integrated highway network density and fractal dimension present continuously increasing trend, but its structures and functions need be improved.On the other hand, ecological environment problems resulted from highway network construction are increasingly severer, moreover, its emission flux of traffic flow pollutant as well as degree of landscape fragmentation both rise rapidly, hence much attention must be paid on the issues of environmental protection and land use.
Assessment and Analysis on Comprehensive Benefit of Highway Greening in Jiangsu Province in Recent Ten Years

Abstract:Based on datum collection,literature consulting and field investigation,the direct economic benefit of highway greening in Jiangsu Province was calculated by market value method;the ecological economic benefit in water conservation,soil conservation and biodiversity maintaining and in carbon fixation and oxygen release and air purification were calculated by equivalent method and LY/T 1721—2008 evaluation method,respectively;the social economic benefit including traffic facility input reducing and landscape aesthetic value were calculated by substitute market value and equivalent methods,respectively.According to these calculation results,the comprehensive benefit of highway greening in Jiangsu Province from 2000 to 2010 and the rate of return on investment from 2000 to 2002 were evaluated and analyzed.The results show that the comprehensive benefit of highway greening in Jiangsu Province increases from 3.25×108 yuan in 2000 to 9.40×108 yuan in 2010 with an average annual increasing rate more than 10%.In which,direct,ecological and social economic benefits account for about 20%,76% and 3%-5% of comprehensive benefit,respectively,and the proportion of ecological economicbenefit is the highest.In accordance with indexvalue quantity from big to small,the index order in ecological economic benefit in 2010 is carbon fixation and oxygen release(60.00%),air purification(22.80%),biodiversity maintaining(6.15%),water conservation(5.59%),soil conservation(5.45%).Moreover,as one of carbon sink of forest,highway greening has a certain carbon sequestration capability.Comprehensive benefit produced by highway greening increases with increasing of greening investment,in which direct economic benefit,that is wood value,is much smaller than greening investment in the same year,but ecological economic benefit is higher than greening investment in the same year and occupies the main position in comprehensive benefit.In general,the rate of return on investment from 2000 to 2002 is above 60%.It is suggested that arbor forest benefit of highway greening is less than that of natural forest,but the main function of highway greening is carbon fixation and oxygen release and air purification.Therefore,the benefit of air purification function of highway greening should be paid attention and improved.Highway greening is a public welfare infrastructure project with higher rate of return on investment in the long run.

Abstract:In recent years, with the sustainable and fast development of Chinese economy, expressway, as the most important portion of the highway networks, had been developed at an astonishing fast speed, which brought on increasingly severe ecological environmental problems in the mean time such as soil and water loss, damage of vegetation ecosystem, geological environment, noise environment, atmospheric environment and water environment etc '. As a result, the development of ecological environmental control of highway construction presents great strategic sense in realizing the coordination between the highway construction and the social, economic, environmental benefit and promoting the sustainable development of highway traffic enterprise as well.Based on the electric-map of land use of Chongming Island in 1: 10000 and aided by the software of ARC GIS9. 1, This paper, took the Chong-Qi Highway crossing Chongming Island as an example, aiming to an environment-friendly highway by pre-control the potentially undesirable impacts on the environment caused by the highway construction, analyzed the ecological elements and characteristics of the highway environment ecosystem, selected the main ecological. factors of water, farm, mudflat, forest wood and building areas, and carried on the risk assessment of them, developed an eco-control model of ecological node for the restoration of the environmental system. As a result, the key ecological nodes of this case were selected as four patches (including Beihu Lake mudflat, Interoperate one, Interoperate two and K7), six corridors (BeiHengyinhe River, Beipugang Watergate, Sixiao River, Liuxiao River, Qixiao River and Baxiao River) and many ecological nodes (including noise nodes, K31 and wetland purification system). Furthermore, the corresponding methods were put forward according to the life cycle of the highway.

Abstract:The coordinated relations between land use and the eco-environment are important links for regional land use plan.Methods of statistical analysis,documentation and investigation were employed to assess the ecologic and environmental influences for different land types in Nanjing City.The study indicate that the influences on ecology and environment of built-up land mainly contain the industry and domestic pollution,the geological disaster,and the "heat island effect" of city,etc.;the utilization of agricultural land has two opposite influences on ecology and environment,i.e.on the one hand the non-point source pollution is stern,on the other hand the highly effective ecological agriculture is advantageous to stabilize and can improve ecological environment;the unused land is significant for maintaining and improving the ecological environment.According to the fact,the environmental friendly land use patterns for different land types were propounded to coordinate the relations between land use and eco-environment.And some suggestions for the future research were proposed,such as dividing the influence degree of land use on environment,enhancing the study and monitor of eco-environment,and optimizing regional land use layout.

Abstract:In the past decade,expressways have been developed rapidly in China.It is evident that a number of opened expressways had generated promoting effects on regional economic development.The purpose of this paper is to develop quantitative methods to evaluate the microeconomic benefits of expressway projects during the operational period.The benefits discussed in the paper are user benefits(reduced vehicle operating costs,time savings and safety benefits) which are the direct effects of the expressway projects.These methodologies are applied to a case study of the Hangzhou-Ningbo Expressway in Zhejiang province.The estimation results show that,since its opening in december of 1996,the expressway has generated significant user benefits in the region.
An Analysis On Green Eco-Effect Of Urban Land Use Type And Pattern: A Case Study Of Central Area Of Shanghai City

Abstract:The characters of Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) associated with urban land use type and land use pattern are discussed in the City of Shanghai, China using the data collected by the Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) remote sensing system. Mean NDVI values associated with different land use types are significantly different. Multiple comparisons of mean NDVI values associated with pairings of each land use type are also shown to be significantly different. Then an analysis was performed about the relationship between NDVI and Shannon Diversity Index (SHDI) of urban land use types, which shows a negative correlation between NDVI and SHDI. According to the above results, the relationship between NDVI and land use types, land use pattern can be considered to be a key factor to study urban ecological environment and to contribute to further validation of the applicability of relatively low cost, moderate spatial resolution satellite imagery in evaluating environmental impacts of urban land function zoning, then to examine the impact of urban land use on the urban environment in Shanghai City. And this provides an effective tool in evaluating environmental influences of zoning in urban ecosystems with remote sensing and geographic information system.

Abstract:The area of impermeable surface spread quickly during the course of city construction in Nanjing, which leads to series of environmental problems, especially the decline of water environment. As a part of the earth surface, the ground parking lot is one of the necessary traffic facilities in modern cities. Ground parking lots will be on the increase as the number of automobiles rising, so it is imperative for permeable pavement to be used. According to analysis, adopting permeable materials on ground parking lots in Nanjing is feasible and will bring comprehensive environmental functions, including reducing surface runoff, increasing pollutants abatement, improving urban water environment, beautifying city landscape, optimizing the microclimatic of parking lots and so on. It concludes that researches should be done in the aspects of technology and policy so as to promote the permeable pavement being extended rapidly on ground parking lots.

Abstract:Based on the improved ecological footprint model,this paper comprehensively analyzed the spatial-temporal characteristics of ecological footprint,ecological carrying capacity and ecological deficit from 2000 to 2014 in Nanjing.The decoupling relationship between ecological foprint,ecological carrying capacity and ecological deficit from 2000 to 2014 in Nanjing.The decoupling relationship between ecological footprint and economic growth was also estimated.Depending on the government documents,the authors analyzed the changing trend of ecological footprint and its decoupling relationship with GDP during the 13th Five-Year Plan period.The results indicated that per capita ecological footprint and per capita ecological deficit grew rapidly during 2000-2014,with per capita ecological carrying capacity decreasing slowly.All districts in Nanjing suffered ecological deficit with varying extents,while ecological carrying capacity increased from city center to the suburban.The decreased decoupling index between ecological footprint and economic growth demonstrates that the economic development has transferred from extensive mode to intensive mode.If the current trend of resources consumption continues,ecological footprint will be enlarged in the future.Therefore,Nanjing should persistently adjust the industrial structure and accelerate the industrial upgrading,execute the "three red lines" strictly,implement differentiated optimization measures of territorial spatial pattern,control the population growth,and gradually build ecological compensation mechanism based on the transfer of ecological assets.

Abstract:The paper presents the effects of Wenzhou segment of Zhuji-Yongjia Highway on the physiognomy and vegetation in Nanxijiang national scenic spot,using Geographic Information System(GIS).The results show that the effects on physiognomy mainly depend on the natural physiognomy background along the line and on the characters and sizes of major engineering,while those on vegetation mainly rely on the natural vegetation conditions along the line or nearby areas.In the mountainous segments with complex topography and well-growth vegetations,the construction of bridges,the excavations of road chasm and the storage of tunnel residues caused the more evident effects on the physiognomy and vegetations along the line or nearby valley.However,in the hill and fluviomarine segments with flat topography and poor-growth vegetations,the constructions of roadbeds and building of service areas resulted in the evident effects on the physiognomy and less evident effects on vegetations along the line or nearby areas.Based on the analysis,the suggestions were proposed to allay the effects of highway construction on the physiognomy and vegetation.

Abstract:In metropolises with high urbanization and being squeezed by a shortage of land available for urban development,it is of great significance to recognize important ecological nodes to designate as protected areas for controlling urban sprawl,and enhancing urban quality of life.In this study,ecological networks analysis has been designed,developed and tested with GIS technique for recognition of important ecological nodes.This paper applies this method to a model of urban district of Nanjing.The procedure was described as follows:(1) the potential ecological networks and ecological nodes were recognized using landscape resistance analysis and network analysis;(2) next,the ecological patches with high special service functions,such as those can protect rivers,provide recreational space,and mitigate industrial pollution,along the recognized potential ecological networks or around ecological nodes were screened;(3) finnaly,the ecological patches with high special service functions greater than a certain size were selected.The results showed that 7 important eco-patches were recommended to designate as permanent green space by law.Furthermore,some suggestion were given to guide the protection of the 7 important eco-patches in the correct direction.

Abstract:The environments of Nanjing's urban waterfront have richened the unique elements that contain mountains,rivers,ancient walls,woods and deltas.In Chinese history,Nanjing was capitals for ten dynasties.It origin from the upside of Qing Huai River,a branch of Yangtze River.Only last hundred years the city developed rapidly alone Yangtze River as the demands of economics.But the major function in the region was manufactures and harbors.At present the ecology and tourism will be put as important places for contemporary landscape plan in Nanjing for sustainable development under use natural and human resources.Alone the line of Yangtze River of Nanjing's part,we investigated the natural and cultural resources.My research analyzes on the elements of the environment of the waterfront in history and contemporary,and further rise up the principle ideas for landscape planning: Stop the stone quarry and sands dig and conservative natural environment.Reorganize the units and institutes and Built a continue green way alone waterfront.Open and divided three layers for landscape planning: first layer is to plan the countryside,deltas,bridges and harbors beside waterfront.Second is to plan the urban buildings,third is to plan the remote mountain ranges as the background,On basis of the former research,my study concluded to divide six landscape districts: the landscape in western region is as modern residential quarter,the Xiaguan waterfront display the transportation harbors and the experiences of city hundreds history,the Mu and Yan Mountain range remain their natural cliff,wild scenery and historical relics,Deltas keep its countryside ecology and picturesque landscape,the Dachang waterfront display the modern industrial scenery,the Pukou&Zhujiang waterfront display the modern cityscape.

Zijin in Nanjing as an example,common problems about wild mountain road in China were studied,the causes were analyzed from objective factors and climbers' behavior psychological factors the corresponding solutions were put forward,several suggestions for transformation and reconstruction of mountain road were proposed,the planning design scheme and management method for Mt. Zijin climbing road were discussed,which has extensive reference and significance for mountain road in city forest park and important mountains in China.

Abstract:Based on GIS technology, this paper discusses the relationship between Commercial Housing Construction and Urban Land Supply of Nanjing. In the “Nanjing Urban Master Plan (2007-2020)”, Nanjing is considered as circle structure of 4 layers, the old city, the main city, the center city and metropolitan area. Taken four regions as research unit, the real estate sales information of each plate in Nanjing (since 2005), sale information of 843 commercial residential real estates, and urban land supplying data (since 2000) were collected by year. Using ArcGIS, the spatial analysis on these data were carried out. The sale data of real estate in Nanjing (2005-2009) and the urban land supplying quantity (2000-2009) were analyzed. Besides, a comparative analysis between the urban land supplying and the sale of real estate was also implemented. Finally, the relationship between commercial housing market and urban land supply of Nanjing is revealed.

Abstract:Ecological footprint is an integrated index of measuring the impact of Human's consumption on ecosystem.Based on the ecological footprint theory and calculation method,the ecological footprint and bio-capacity of highroad were measured by using the ecological footprint analytical method in 109 nationgal highway from 17 Gou to Qingshuihe in this paper.The result showed that there is ecological surplus 0.242 702 hm2 per capita before highway building and 0.240 371 hm2 per capita after highway building.The ecological press index is small.And all kinds of impropriated land are in the range of land use programming.The highway projects were to be proven feasible in terms of ecology.

Abstract:In this paper, 15 kinds of plant communities in greenbelt of 10 major roads in Nanjing were selected as the measuring objects, and we set every 5m to the shoulder as a measuring spot, then measured the noise attenuation on the spots. The result shows the noise attenuation of plant communities have significant differences. And we analyzed the composition of the communities which have a better effectiveness in noise reduction. At last some optimization suggestions were put forward.

Abstract:In the process of urbanization in Nanjing,the construction of the city makes the original soil surface be covered by impermeable pavement increasingly,inducing series urban environmental problems,the most remarkable one of which is the aggravation of stormwater runoff as a result of the runoff coefficient increasing.The key to this problem is to use permeable pavement in proper areas in urban construction so as to control the spread of impermeable surface.As one of the important traffic facilities,the ground parking lot is a ideal area to be paved with permeable material because of its particular function.According to mathematical analysis,adopting permeable pavement on ground parking lots in Nanjing can reduce the quantity of stormwater runoff and pollutant emission effectively,and to some extent optimize the environment of the city.It concludes that ground parking lots should become the opener to promote permeable pavement in Nanjing.
