Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the multiplicative perturbations of local C-regularized semigroups on Banach spaces and establish some new multiplicative perturbation results which are generalizations of many existing theorems. Moreover, we give applications of the abstract results to three concrete problems including the mixed initial-boundary value problem for backwards heat equations with finite rank feedbacks.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to study the abstract functional differential equation (FDE) of the following form$$dot{u}(t)=Au(t)+Phi u_t,$$ where $A$ generates a $C$-regularized semigroup, which is the generalization of $C_0$-semigroup and can be applied to deal with many important differential operators the $C_0$-semigroup can not be used to. We first show that the $C$-well-posedness of a FDE is equivalent to the$mathscr{C}$-well-posedness of an abstract Cauchy problem in a productBanach space, where the operator $mathscr{C}$ is related with theoperator $C$ and will be defined in the following text. Then, by making use of a perturbation result of $C$-regularized semigroup, a sufficient condition is provided for the $C$-well-posedness of FDEs. Moreover, anillustrative application to partial differential equation (PDE) with delay is given in the last section.

Abstract:Of concern are two classes of convoluted C-regularized operator families: convoluted C-cosine operator families and convoluted C-semigroups. We obtain new and general multiplicative and additive perturbation theorems for these convoluted C-regularized operator families. Two examples are given to illustrate our abstract results.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish Desch-Schappacher type multiplicative and additive perturbation theorems for existence families for arbitrary order abstract Cauchy problems in a Banach space: u((n)) (t) = Au(t) (t greater than or equal to 0); u((j)) (0) = x(j) (0 less than or equal to j less than or equal to n - 1). As a consequence, we obtain such perturbation results for regularized semigroups and regularized cosine operator functions. An example is also given to illustrate possible applications.

Abstract:In this note we generalize perturbation results for positive $C_0$-semigroups on AM- and AL-spaces and give a Weiss--Staffans type perturbation result for generators of positive semigroups on Banach lattices. The abstract results are applied to domain perturbations of generators, a heat equation with boundary feedback and perturbations of the first derivative.

Abstract:Sufficient conditions are obtained under which the semigroup ring of a semigroup, in particular, of an inverse semigroup, is weakly regular. For some inverse semigroups and some orthodox semigroups, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the weak regularity of the semigroup rings are found. A problem is mentioned especially which is much more difficult for weak regularity than for regularity. Only a partial solution of this problem is given for weak regularity.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the vector-valued Laplace transforms,r-times (r∈[0,∞)) integrated semigroups and regularized semigroups in the context of sequentially complete locally convex spaces. Our theorems develop the corresponding results in [1,11], including the well known integrated version of the classical Widder's representation theorem of Laplace transforms for functions taking values in Banach spaces. Moreover, we study a class of differential operators on certain function spaces. Optimal conditions, making them the generators of integrated or regularized semigroups, are obtained. We finally show some applications to abstract Cauchy problems.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with perturbation problems of regularity linear systems. Two types of perturbation results are proved: (i) the perturbed system (A + P, B, C) generates a regular linear system provided both (A, B, C) and (A, B, P) generate regular linear systems; and (ii) the perturbed system ${((A_{-1}+\Delta A)|_X,B,C^A_\Lambda)}$ generates a regular linear system if both (A, B, C) and (A, ΔA, C) generate regular linear systems. These allow us to establish a new variation of constants formula of the control system (A + P, B). Moreover, these results are applied to the linear systems with state and output delays. The regularity and the mild expressibility is deduced, and a necessary and sufficient condition for stabilizability of the delayed systems is proved.

Abstract:This paper focuses on the stability of both local and global error bounds for a proper lower semicontinuous convex function defined on a Banach space. Without relying on any dual space information, we first provide precise estimates of error bound moduli using directional derivatives. For a given proper lower semicontinuous convex function on a Banach space, we prove that the stability of local error bounds under small perturbations is equivalent to the directional derivative at a reference point having a non-zero minimum over the unit sphere. Additionally, the stability of global error bounds is shown to be equivalent to the infimum of the directional derivatives, at all points on the boundary of the solution set, being bounded away from zero over some neighborhood of the unit sphere.

Abstract:Let $\mathcal{G}$ be a locally compact Hausdorff group in which every element is of finite order, and let $P(\mathcal{G})$ denote the class of all regular probability measures on $\mathcal{G}$. In this note, it is observed that a charecterisation of algebraically regular elements in certain subsemigroups of $P(\mathcal{G})$, Theorem 4.1 of \cite{MNN} for compact $\mathcal{G}$ remains true for locally compact $\mathcal{G}$.

Abstract:In this paper we study the well-posedness of the evolution equation of the form $u'(t)=Au(t)+Cu(t)$, $t\ge 0$, where $A$ is the generator of a $C_0$- semigroup and $C$ is a (possibly unbounded) linear operator in a Banach space $\mathbb{X}$. We prove that if $A$ generates a $C_0$-semigroup $\left (T_A(t)\right )_{t \geq 0}$ with $\|T(t)\| \le Me^{\omega t}$ in a Banach space $\mathbb{X}$ and $C$ is a linear operator in $\mathbb{X}$ such that $D(A)\subset D(C)$ and $\| CR(\mu ,A)\| \le K/(\mu -\omega)$ for each $\mu>\omega$, then, the above-mentioned evolution equation is well-posed, that is, $A+C$ generates a $C_0$-semigroup $\left (T_{A+C}(t)\right )_{t \geq 0}$ satisfying $\| T_{A+C}(t)\| \le Me^{(\omega +MK)t}$. Our approach is to use the Hille-Yosida Theorem. Discussions on the persistence of asymptotic behavior of the perturbed equations such as the roughness of exponential dichotomy are also given. The obtained results seem to be new.

Abstract:We study maximal regularity with respect to continuous functions for strongly continuous semigroups on locally convex spaces as well as its relation to the notion of admissible operators. This extends several results for classical strongly continuous semigroups on Banach spaces. In particular, we show that Travis' characterization of $\mathrm{C}$-maximal regularity using the notion of bounded semivariation carries over to the general case. Under some topological assumptions, we further show the equivalence between maximal regularity and admissibility in this context.
