Abstract:A microwave-assisted condensation of salicylaldehyde and aryl amines without solvent were efficiently performed to form a series of salicylaldimines in high yields, which were confirmed by IR, H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR and elemental analyses. The microwave-assisted condensation provided a convenient environmental-friendship methodology for syntheses of Schiff-base in organic syntheses.

Abstract:Novel chiral aminophosphine phosphinite, DPAMPP was designed and synthesized from (1S,2R)-1,2-diphenyl-2-aminoethanol. Its cationic rhodium complex has been found to be an excellent catalyst for enantioselective hydrogenation of dehydroamino acids (more than 95.0%e.e.).

Abstract:The solid phase synthesis of 2-aminoimidazolidin-4-ones from resin-bound amino acids is described. Resin-bound thioureas were treated with Mukaiyama's reagent (2-chloro-1-methypyridinium iodide) to form, via intramolecular cyclization, resin-bound 2-iminoimidazolidin-4-ones. Following alkylation and cleavage, the corresponding 1,5-disubstituted 2-aminoimidazolidin-4-ones were provided in good yield and purity.

Abstract:The solid-phase synthesis of 1,5-disubstituted 2-aryliminoimidazolidines, starting from resin-bound N-acylated amino acid amides, is described. Exhaustive reduction of resin-bound acylated amino acid amides with borane-THF afforded the corresponding disecondary amines. Further reaction with arylisothiocyanates in the presence of mercuric chloride (HgCl(2)) yielded the corresponding resin-bound 1,5-disubstituted 2-aryliminoimidazolidines. Cleavage of the product from the resin using HF/anisole (95/5) for 1.5 h at 0 degrees C gave the desired products in good yield and purity. The preparation of a large combinatorial library of such compounds is also discussed.

Abstract:This paper presents a novel solvent free method of synthesis of trans-chalcones. The method was based on ultrasound irradiation of the reagents (aryl methyl ketones and aryl aldehydes) in presence of commercial acid-montmorillonites as catalysts. The trans-chalcones were synthesized in high yields (85-95%) and excellent selectivity in a short reaction time.

Abstract:Herein, a base-promoted strategy for the synthesis of β-amino acids derivatives from α,β-unsaturated acyl chlorides derivatives and aryl amines has been described. In the presence of triethylamine, a tandem Michael addition and nucleophilic substitution progress was generated. The current method features readily available raw materials, mild reaction conditions, high atom economy, and wide tolerance for the coupling partners.

Abstract:A highly efficient, solid-phase synthesis of 2-arylamino-5-(4-hydroxy-phenyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole derivatives under mild conditions has been developed. The 1,3,4-thiadiazole derivatives were synthesized from resin-bound acylhydrazines in several steps, which gave 78-88% overall yields and excellent purities of the products.

Abstract:Background: 1,3-Diphenylpropenones (chalcones) are well known for their diverse array of bioactivities. Hydroxyl group substituted chalcones are the main precursor in the synthesis of flavonoids. Till date various methods have been developed for the synthesis of these very interesting molecules. Continuing our efforts for the development of simple, eco-friendly and cost-effective methodologies, we report here a solvent free condensation of aryl ketones and aldehydes using iodine impregnated alumina under microwave activation. This new protocol has been applied to a variety of substituted aryl carbonyls with excellent yield of substituted 1,3-diphenylpropenones. Results: Differently substituted chalcones were synthesized using iodine impregnated neutral alumina as catalyst in 79-95% yield in less than 2 minutes time under microwave activation without using any solvent. The reaction was studied under different catalytic conditions and it was found that molecular iodine supported over neutral alumina gives the best yield. The otherwise difficult single step condensation of hydroxy substituted aryl carbonyls is an attractive feature of this protocol to obtain polyhydroxychalcones in excellent yields. In order to find out the general applicability of this new endeavor it was successfully applied for the synthesis of 15 different chalcones including highly bioactive prenylated hydroxychalcone xanthohumol. Conclusion: A new, simple and solvent free method was developed for the synthesis of substituted chalcones in environmentally benign way. The mild reaction conditions, easy work-up, clean reaction profiles render this approach as an interesting alternative to the existing methods.

Abstract:This paper describes a simple chiral primary amine-catalyzed highly efficient and practical protocol for the synthesis of both Wieland-Miescher ketone and Hajos-Parrish ketone as well as their analogues. The reaction can be conducted in gram scale with 1% mol catalyst loading producing high enantioselectivity (up to 96% ee) and excellent yields (up to 98%). This procedure represents one of the most efficient methods for the synthesis of these versatile chiral building blocks.

Abstract:A novel, highly efficient, eco-friendly, and quick microwave-assisted synthesis of 2, 4, 5- substituted imidazoles by one-pot cyclo condensation of acenaphthoquinone, aromatic aldehydes, and ammonium acetate was reported under solvent-free conditions using ammonium chloride as a catalyst with excellent yield. The present methodology offers several advantages, such as mild reaction conditions, easy workup, short reaction time, excellent yield, purification of products by the non-chromatographic method, and reproducibility in large-scale synthesis. Compounds were characterized by IR, 1HNMR, 13C NMR spectroscopy and their melting points were compared with the literature reports.

Abstract:A simple and efficient method has been developed for the synthesis of alpha-aminonitriles by a one-Pot three-component condensation of aldehydes, amines, and trimethylsilyl cyanide in the presence of a catalytic amount of silica sulfuric acid at room temperature. The silica sulfuric acid is reusable and could be applied in subsequent reactions with comparable activity.

Abstract:An efficient method for the synthesis of [1,4]thiazino[4,3-a]indole derivatives using sodium chlorodifluoroacetate (ClCF2CO2Na) and elemental sulfur as the difluoromethylthiolating reagent system has been developed. Three-component reactions of 2'-aminochalcones, sulfur, and ClCF2CO2Na under basic conditions using TEMPO as the oxidant afforded [1,4]thiazino[4,3-a]indol-10-ones containing a difluoromethyl thioether moiety in good yields. Four bonds including one C-N, two C-S, and one C-C bonds are selectively formed in the sequential transformation process.

Abstract:Alkylamines form the backbone of countless nitrogen-containing small molecules possessing desirable biological properties. Despite advances in amine synthesis through transition metal catalysis and photoredox chemistry, multicomponent reactions that leverage inexpensive materials to transform abundant chemical feedstocks into three-dimensional α-substituted alkylamines bearing complex substitution patterns remain scarce. Here, we report the design of a catalyst-free electroreductive manifold that merges amines, carbonyl compounds and carbon-based radical acceptors under ambient conditions without rigorous exclusion of air and moisture. Key to this aminative carbofunctionalization process is the chemoselective generation of nucleophilic α-amino radical intermediates that readily couple with electrophilic partners, providing straightforward access to architecturally intricate alkylamines and drug-like scaffolds which are inaccessible by conventional means.

Abstract:An efficient method for asymmetric synthesis of acyclic α-tertiary amine derivatives has been achieved through enantioselective aminations of α-branched ynones with azodicarboxylates enabled by chiral phosphoric acid catalysis. Moreover, kinetic resolution of racemic starting material was realized under these conditions, which gave access to valuable enantioenriched α-substituted ketones. A wide array of α-aryl and alkyl-substitutions, and the substituted alkynyl groups were well compatible with this method, producing both the amination products and the recovered ketones with good to high enantioselectivities.This article is protected by copyright.
