Abstract:This paper analyses the stability of two-dimensional three-degree critical nonlinear systems by using the Normal Determinative Function Method, which is a definite derivative function method to judge Lyapunov stability of systems. Two cases are considered, where the pure critical system has a pair of nonzero pure imaginary eigenvalues and two zero eigenvalues with geometric multiplicity one. For each system, the sufficient conditions for stability and the form of Lyapunov function are given.

Abstract:In this paper,we systematically study the sufficient and necessary conditions of stability,asymptotical stability,uniform stability and unstability of the equilibrium solution x = 0 to dynamic equation on time scale x~△= f(t,x),(t,x)∈T×R~n.In the proof, sufficient conditions are proved mainly by properties of function of Class K and continuation of Lyapunov function;in necessary proof,we separately structure Lyapunov functions which satisfy the conditions of the theorems,such that the results establish.

Abstract:In this paper,we consider the stability of a class of nonlinear differential equations with multidelay.Some concise stability criteria of differential equations are obtained by making equations stable with delay terms.An example is given to illustrate the main results in this paper.Different from the Liapunov way which regards the delay terms as disturber,the equations considered are more general,which make the results have much more profound meaning.

Abstract:Stability analysis of nonlinear fractional differential systems has been an open problem since the 1990s of the last century. Apparently, Lyapunov’s second method seems to be invalid for nonlinear fractional differential systems (equations). In this paper, we are concerned with this open problem and have solved it partly. Based on Lyapunov’s second method, a novel stability criterion for a class of nonlinear fractional differential system is derived. Our result is simple, global and theoretically rigorous. The conditions to guarantee the stability of the nonlinear fractional differential system are convenient for testing. Compared with the stability criteria in the literature, our criterion is straightforward and suitable for application. Several examples are provided to illustrate the applications of our result.

Abstract:In this paper, by using the existence of the exponential dichotomy of linear dynamic equations on time scales and the theory of calculus on time scales, we study the existence and global exponential stability of periodic solutions for a class of n-dimensional neutral dynamic equations on time scales. We also present an example to illustrate the feasibility of our results. The results of this paper are completely new and complementary to the previously known results even in both the case of differential equations (time scale $${\mathbb {T}}={\mathbb {R}}$$ ) and the case of difference equations (time scale $${\mathbb {T}}={\mathbb {Z}}$$ ).

Abstract:Differential equations with right‐hand side functions that are not everywhere differentiable are referred to as nondifferentiable systems. This paper introduces three novel methods to address stability issues in nondifferentiable systems. The first method extends the linearization method as it fails when the equilibrium is in a nondifferentiable region. We find that the stability of a piecewise differentiable system aligns with the behavior of its subsystems as long as the "distance" between these subsystems is sufficiently small. The second method is to examine the eigenvalues of the symmetric part of the Jacobian matrix in the vicinity of the equilibrium. This method applies to functions with even weaker regularity conditions, and does not require the eigenvalues to have a negative upper bound (or positive lower bound) over the domain. The third method establishes a connection between nondifferentiable systems and their approximate counterparts, revealing that their stability can be consistent under certain conditions. Additionally, we reaffirm the first two results via the approximation method. Examples are provided to illustrate the applications of our main results, including piecewise differentiable systems, general nondifferentiable systems, and realistic scenarios.
