The Clinical Value of Two-Slice CT Virtual Endoscopy in Preoperative Diagnosis of Colon Tumer

Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the clinical value of two-slice CT virtual endoscopy in preoperative diagnosis of colon tumer.Methods:The volume scan of two-slice CT was performed in whole colon of 30 cases who were suspected of colon tumor,then data was transmitted to the work station and to obtain virtual endoscopy(VE) image using software.To the form,the situation and the depth of invasion were examed by using of MPR,3D surface shaded display(SSD) and raysum.The results of VE were correlated with those of electronic colonoscopy and pathology. Results:MSCTVE could be more accurate than electronic colonoscopy in detecting polypoid type colon tumor and the detecting rates were 100% and 89.4% respectively.On the other hand,the electronic colonoscopy was superior to MSCTVE in detecting infiltrating type and ulcerative type colon tumor.The detecting rate were 83.4% and 100% respectively.MSCTVE was more helpful than electronic colonoscopy in displaying the length and range of tumor.Conclusion:Two-slice CT virtual endoscopy imaging in the preoperative diagnosis of colon tumer have a greater value,which is an important complement to electronic colonoscopy screening technique.
