The Reconstruction of Human Relations:An Essential Route to the Renaissance of Chinese Culture

Abstract:According to the findings of cultural psychology , the Chinese culture is a culture heavily based on personal relations.This shows that the continued fostering of human relations will be the foundation of China's future social order , even the renaissance of Chinese culture.The following are important aspects in the reconstruction the human relations.First , we must realize again that the core of Chinese culture is the five cardinal virtues , i.e. benevolence , righteousness , propriety , wisdom and fidelity , as well as loyalty and filial piety , and not the Western values such as freedom , equality and human rights.Second , the highest ideal of Chinese culture is that everyone fulfills his/her nature.Third , social education is more important than the academic education , and the alternation of social atmosphere is the prerequisite for the progress of social morality.Fourth , the moral education must not degenerate into either of the opposite extremes of nationalism or liberalism.Rather , moral education should strive to foster independence and a healthy personality.
