Clinical analysis of 45 cases of youth with gastric cancer

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the clinical manifestation and pathological characteristics of gastric carcinoma in young adults≤40 years old.Methods:A retrospective analysis for clinical manifestation and pathological characteristics in 45 cases of young with gastric carcinoma confirmed by endoscopy,operation and pathology was performed in our hospital from January 2000 to December 2012.Results:The ratio of disease development was higher in female than in male.Clinical symptoms were concealed and atypical with common upper abdominal dull pain.Tumor positions were generally found in gastric antrum and stomach angle.The conventional diagnostic methods available now are insensitive to the diagnosis of young patients with gastric cancer,of which the most are poorly differentiated and signet ring cell carcinoma with high malignancy.Conclusion:Great attention should be paid to the early gastric carcinoma in young adults,to whom a gastroscopy examination should be performed as soon as possible.A repeat endoscopic evaluation and biopsy may be appropriate in order to obtain early diagnosis and low rate of misdiagnosis.
