On the making of qualified teachers for teaching translation majors in the new context in China——A summary of "The First National Round-table Conference on the Development of Translation Specialty"

Abstract:"The First National Round-table Conference on the Development of Translation Specialty",sponsored by the Department of Translation and Interpretation of the College of Foreign Languages and Literature of Fudan University,was held in Fudan University on April 21,with a view to facilitating the development of translation specialty in mainland China.On the conference,many translation scholars and teachers had heated and fruitful discussions about the making of qualified teachers from different perspectives,the topics ranging from the qualifications of teachers,the training methods,cooperation and exchanges of teaching resources between universities,the evaluation system to the short-term and long-term plans for developing translation teachers.All the resulted suggestions proved to be very constructive and will be very useful in guiding the future development of translation as an independent discipline.
