The making of translation textbooks for translation majors in China: An eco-translatological perspective

Abstract:Revisiting the development of translation textbooks in China,this paper interprets how translation textbooks are compiled,developed and studied in the context of Chinese translation ecology from an eco-translatological perspective,with a view to proposing that translation textbooks for translation majors should be ecologically designed in the new century.This proposal highlights that a good ecological relationship among knowledge domains should be established in the textbooks,such as linking translation knowledge with life,with learners' personal experiences and with other disciplines.In order to keep new textbooks in a harmonious ecological environment,all the relevant participants including publishers,compilers and readers are encouraged to work interactively.The translation textbooks should be compiled in a descriptive way so that they would be dynamically interpretive.
