Analysis on sanitary conditions of public appliances in public places of Pudong New Area of Shanghai City from 2010-2012

Abstract:[Objective]To understand the sanitary condition of public appliances in public places of Pudong New Area of Shanghai City,to clarify the emphasis of health supervision and monitoring,so as to enhance supervision and monitoring on public places.[Methods]From 2010-2012,a total of 442 public places of 6 categories were randomly selected for public appliances monitoring.Chi-square test was used for statistical analysis.[Results] A total of 1 461 samples of public appliances were monitored,1 385 were qualified,with total qualified rate of 94.8%.The quailed rate of barber shop(99.05%) was the highest,while that of footbath place(81.25%) was the lowest.There was a significant difference between all places(χ2 = 80.421,P < 0.05).The qualified rate of the barber tools and cosmetic tools(99.10%) was the highest,while that of the foot-bath basin(62.86%) was the lowest.There was a significant difference between all kinds of public appliances(χ2 = 104.338,P < 0.05).[Conclusion]The total qualified rate of public appliances is relatively high in public places of Pudong New Area,but the sanitary conditions of some kinds of places and appliances are not optimistic.Health surveillance and supervision should be enhanced to improve the safety of the public appliances.
