Abstract:The paper expounds Chinese characters teaching should lay stress on their rich cultural connotation and explain the interest of Chinese characters by using the characteristics of Chinese characters and various flexible teaching methods. At the same time riddles about characters and couplets of Chinese character separated structure can be introduced so that students can learn Chinese characters happily both as a tool of language and as an inheritance of ethnic culture. Abstract:As global interest in Chinese culture and language continues to grow, the importance of international Chinese language education is also constantly increasing. Against this background, the teaching of Chinese characters, as a key component of Chinese language learning, has received more attention. Abstract:With the quick development of China, the number of foreign students in China has soared. Abstract:Teaching Chinese characters to foreigners has always been the focus and difficulty of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. The article focuses on analyzing the two major issues of “keeping” and “changing” in teaching Chinese characters to foreigners. “Keeping” means the goal and mission of teaching Chinese characters to foreigners, and it is believed that we should clarify the essential features of Chinese characters that are different from other characters; have a general understanding and grasp of the whole Chinese character symbol system; identify the relationship between Chinese characters and Chinese words. It is believed that one should clarify the essential features of Chinese characters that make them different from other characters, have a general understanding and grasp of the entire Chinese character symbolic system, and identify the relationship between Chinese characters (words) and Chinese language (words). “Changes” means the development path of teaching Chinese characters to foreigners. Taking the character “犬” as an example, we analyze its connotation and the comparison between ancient and modern times around the ShuoWenJieZi. Subsequently, the development path is proposed to emphasize the spatial distribution of radicals while taking into account the concept of stroke order, and to emphasize the explanation of the rationale for the construction of Chinese characters. In terms of teaching, the combination of science and technology will promote innovative changes in teaching methods and transform the teaching body.

Abstract:Using qualitative research methods,this article describes the process of retrieving and writing Chinese characters by students whose native languages use Alphabetic writing as their spelling systems.The findings are:1)the major part of their vocabulary consists of nouns,2)the difficult characters will be those which structures are the complete/half surrounded and which strokes are more than ten;3)there are some similarities in making mistakes by foreign students.The re- search suggests that teachers should have the ability to write proper textbooks or design supplement based on Chinese lexicon;teaching emphasize should not focus on those very difficult learning points such as adverb,preposition and so on,and if the completed characters are correct,the problems of sequencing of strokes can be neglected.
