Abstract:Aim To prepare and apply a concise biochip for detection of various antigens in stool. Methods Based on the principle of antigen-antibody affinity, we developed a concise biochip for detection of various antigens in stool including hemoglobin, albumin, the whole bacterial antigen of H, pylori, K-12 E. coli, CEA, p53, Ras21, QYC. bellyworm egg, hookworm egg and white cell in pyroxylin membrane. Results The protein biochips were diverse on sensitivity of various antigens, that of hemoglobin, albumin was 50ng/ml. 1000ng/ml, H. pylori and K-12 antigens were 20.0ng/ml, CEA was 12.5ng/ml, P53, Ras21 and QYC were 10.0ng/ml, and genes of bellyworm egg, hookworm egg and white cell were 50.0ng/ml, respectively. Furthermore, the biochip was applied to detection of the clinical stool samples for assessment of clinical value, The results indicated the biochip had excellent work in difference clinical stool samples. We obtained the coincident rate of 95% and 92% in hemoglobin and H. pylori antigen. Conclusions Biochip technique for detection of stool proteins is a new method and should have broad future market.

Abstract:Now with the rapid development of food industry, food safety is concerned all over the world. Many factors affect the food safety, among which pathogenic microbe is one of the most primary factor. In order to effectively and efficiently monitor the food safety, it is more and more important for food quality control and supervision to control the pathogenic microorganism in food processing, and establish the method for rapid detection of food pathogen. Traditional methods for detection of food borne pathogens are quite complex, and cost much time, so more researches focus on the quick, convenient and differential methods. The scope of application of rapid detection method is very extensive, and more sensitive than the traditional detection method. This article introduced several advanced fast detection technology of food pathogenic bacteria, including molecular biology technology, immunity technology, metabolism technology and biosensor technology, and the rapid detection technology of those more advanced analysis and summarize the current mainstream, aiming to provide a reference for the further study.

The nanoparticle is the most interested and useful nanomaterial used in the biomedical field, which have many characteristics. It is urgently needed to construct effective methods for on-site, fast, accurate and popular food safety sensing. Among them, microfluidic chip technology exhibits distinguish advantages in detection, including less sample consumption, fast detection, simple operation, multi-functional integration, small size, multiplex detection and portability. In this review, we introduce the classification, material, processing and application of the microfluidic chip in food safety sensing, in order to provide a good guide for food safety monitoring.

Abstract:Biochip is newly developed miniaturized analytical platform for molecular biology and biochemistry. Advances in biochip technology enable massive parallel mining of biological data. In the present age, pharmaceutical industries have great interests to biochip technology because of its huge impact and rapid development. Recently, biochip technology has been applied to almost all fields of drug discovery and development, such as drug target validation, high throughput drug screening, toxicology, pharmacogenomics and drug analysis. It is trusted that with the sustained rapid development of biochip technology, it will be applied more widely and deeply in drug discovery and development, especially in the study of the traditional Chinese medicine.

Abstract:Pathogenic bacteria pose a global threat to public health and attract considerable attention in terms of food safety. Rapid and highly sensitive strategies for detecting pathogenic bacteria must be urgently developed to ensure food safety and public health. Microchips offer significant advantages for pathogenic bacterial detection in terms of speed and sensitivity compared with those of traditional techniques. Microfluidic devices, in particular, have attracted significant attention for the detection of pathogenic bacteria owing to their ease of operation, high throughput, cost-effectiveness, and high sensitivity. This review summarizes representative articles on the analysis of pathogenic bacteria using microchip-based systems. A detailed and comprehensive overview of microchip-based techniques for the detection of pathogenic bacteria is presented herein, and their advantages and disadvantages are discussed to compare their applications. The accomplishments and shortcomings of these microchips have been highlighted, and the direction of development and prospects of the analysis of pathogenic bacteria have been examined. The content of this review is anticipated to provide constructive suggestions for further development of highly effective and advanced microchip-based strategies for detecting pathogenic bacteria.

Abstract:An advanced microbe chip testing method was put forward, and a new digital imaging scanning system for testing biochips was developed. A novel CCD scanning system with laser induced fluorescence for biochip detection was proposed, with a high numerical aperture NA=0.72 for collecting fluorescence, long working distance 3.22 mm and high sensitivity less than 1 fluorescent molecule /μm2. Microbe chip was designed and tested by the above novel CCD scanning system, which provided a whole solution scheme for efficient food safety inspection. An example of testing escherichia coli and xanthomonas campestris was shown and proved the stability and creditability of the system. The experimental results obtained by the developed digital imaging scanning system indicated the same correct identification of microbe as the commercial confocal scanner.

Abstract:Foodborne diseases caused by pathogenic bacteria pose a serious threat to human health. Early and rapid detection of foodborne pathogens is an urgent task for preventing disease outbreaks. Microfluidic devices are simple, automatic, and portable miniaturized systems. Compared with traditional techniques, microfluidic devices have attracted much attention because of their high efficiency and convenience in the concentration and detection of foodborne pathogens. This article firstly reviews the bio-recognition elements integrated on microfluidic chips in recent years and the progress of microfluidic chip development for pathogen pretreatment. Furthermore, the research progress of microfluidic technology based on optical and electrochemical sensors for the detection of foodborne pathogenic bacteria is summarized and discussed. Finally, the future prospects for the application and challenges of microfluidic chips based on biosensors are presented.Graphical abstract

Abstract:Biological toxin is a kind of important life phenomenon in nature, an important tool and the material basis to explore the secrets of life science and development of new drugs, and is also a key preventive treatment object in the field of food safety. Mycotoxin and marine biotoxins which are two kinds of natural toxic substances associated with food safety, have the characteristics of strong toxicity and pollute widely and a great harm to human health. Among the detection means of mycotoxin and marine biotoxin, the technique of liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (LC-MS) is widely used for its sensitive and efficient characteristics. Based on the LC-MS technique as a breakthrough point, its application in biological toxins related to food safety testing analysis in recent years were reviewed, as well as the related sample processing technology progress.

Abstract:Background Foodborne pathogen contamination is a main source of food safety issues. Rapid screening of pathogens in foods is imperative for preventing the outbreaks of foodborne diseases, which have posed serious threats to human health and economic development. Scope and approach This review aimed at recent progress of the microfluidic separators and biosensors for rapid and sensitive detection of foodborne pathogens. The key technologies for developing lab-on-chip separators and biosensors were illustrated. In particular, we systematically discussed the strategy of lab-on-chip magnetic separation for continuous-flow isolation of pathogenic bacteria. Challenges and future perspectives for practical applications of lab-on-chip technologies in foods were also discussed. Key findings and conclusion Lab-on-chip devices are a promising tool to integrate separation, enrichment and detection in one single chip to facilitate "sample-in-answer-out" testing of pathogens in agri-food.

Abstract:Various diseases caused by food-borne or environmental pathogenic microorganisms have been a persistent threat to public health and global economies. It is necessary to regularly detect microorganisms in food and environment to prevent infection of pathogenic microorganisms. However, most traditional detection methods are expensive, time-consuming, and unfeasible in practice in the absence of sophisticated instruments and trained operators. Point-of-care testing (POCT) can be used to detect microorganisms rapidly on site and greatly improve the efficiency of microbial detection. Lab-on-chip (LOC) is an emerging POCT technology with great potential by integrating most of the experimental steps carried out in the laboratory into a single monolithic device. This review will primarily focus on principles and techniques of LOC for detection of microbial nucleic acid in food and environment, including sample preparation, nucleic acid amplification and sample detection.

Abstract:The protein chip kit,ELISA kit and confirmatory methods were used to detect veterinary drug residues(enrofloxacin clenbuterol,streptomycin and sulfadimidine) in pig and chicken tissues.The results showed that the capabilities of the protein chip kit were equal to those of ELISA kit,The results obtained with protein chip kit were consistent with confirmatory and conventional methods.And the protein chip kit can detect more than one kind of veterinary drugs in a parallel way.The sample preparation method is also simpler and more quickly than others.
