Abstract:South-Jiangsu pattern in the 1980s is a market-oriented and industrialized local development pattern as a result of the development of village and township enterprises in the course of rural industrialization and urbanization in South Jiangsu. However, the pattern has made the significant transition to new South-Jiangsu pattern. The new pattern includes the system of ownership made up of foreign capital, non-government capital and shareholding system; the industrial structure with an emphasis on both manufacturing industries and the service trades; priority given to large-scale enterprises; the harmonious development of cities and the countryside; market-oriented economic development and government-managing social development. The transition from South-Jiangsu pattern to new South-Jiangsu pattern reflects the approaches in the development pattern as well as the innovation in the new phase of development.
