Abstract:Solar energy as a kind of clean energy source has widely been applied to water treatment fields.The application and research progress of solar energy techniques to the heat preservation of effluent and sludge,photocatalytic oxidation of effluent,concentration and drying of sludge,surface water remediation,etc.are expounded. The advantages and disadvantages of applying solar energy techniques to water treatment fields are analyzed briefly.The research emphasis in the future and development direction are clarified.It is strongly believed that with the development of solar energy techniques,it's application to water treatment fields will have further promising development.

Abstract:The integration of solar PV(photovoltaic) steel structure system means that the solar PV technology is applied in the steel structure building in order to build the green energy-efficient building structures.This paper first presents the definition of a PV steel structure integration system and the classification of applying the integration system,thus summarizing all kinds of applying forms' characteristics and advantages.Afterward the paper summarizes the connection integrating technology,the design technology and construction technology of the PV steel structure integration system.At last the paper gives a brief introduction to a grid structure model's installation and connection,on which the new solar PV modules are installed.

Abstract:In this paper,through the investigation into the conditions of heating,air-conditioning,hot water and building envelope of Shanghai high-rise residences in the last few years,the energy consumption characteristics and energy conservation potential of high-rise residences in Shanghai at present were discussed.Moreover,according to the status of utilization of solar hot water and thermal design of building envelope,the knowledge and satisfaction degree of dwellers towards solar energy utilization were analyzed,and the existing problems were presented.Based on the analysis,the operability of utilizing the solar energy in high-rise residences was put forward.

Abstract:The application of building sun-shading technology need comprehensive analysis of local climate characteristics, the building function, safety as well as economical factors. This study considers the residential building in Shanghai as the investigated object to find out the current situation and existing problems of sun-shading technology application associated with various residential buildings, on the basis of which, the various sun-shading approaches corresponding to all types of residential building are concluded and given. The data of the average annual solar-radiation intensity is adopted and the distribution-map solution is applied to discuss the suitable sun-shading angles together with dimensions in relation to the building facing different directions in Shanghai, aiming to provide scientific evidences to the building sun-shading technology.

Abstract:The assessment of potential and utilization of solar energy for each building has become an essential precondition of urban sustainable development. Currently, there are two challenges, namely high computation cost for an assessment within a large city and missing rooftop information for each building. In this study, by taking the downtown area in Shanghai as sample, a grid scheme with buffer was proposed to alleviate the computational burden and successfully estimate solar radiation with an accuracy of 0.91. Also, a quadrant-based segmentation method was developed to classify rooftop types with an overall accuracy of 83.63%, which helps better calculate solar energy utilization cost. Finally, we assumed PhotoVoltaic conversion (PV) systems or Domestic Solar Water Heater (DSWH) systems are installed on all suitable rooftops and analyzed their utilization cost, as well as economic and ecological benefits. The results show that 165,529 and 52,131 buildings are suitable for PV and DSWH systems, respectively. PV system's average payback time is about five years with reducing standard coal consumption of 1.85 × 1011kg. The DSWH system requires three more years to balance the cost and benefits. The criteria of further solar energy planning are also concluded from three perspectives: building height and density, and rooftop structure.

Abstract:People are trying to find new energy to solve the increasingly serious problem of energy crisis.Many studies have been implemented on wind energy,solar energy,bio-energy and other renewable energy.The solar energy has attracted a large number of attentions.The research and development of solar energy are discussed in the paper,from solar water heater to solar cells,from solar energy air conditioning to solar photovoltaic power generation as well as some completed solar building.Also the solar energy economy and feasibility analyses are introduced as well as encouragement policies and measures adopted by some countries.The future of photovoltaic power generation and aspects of solar energy application are analyzed at end of the paper.

Abstract:Using conventional fossil fuels causes both energy crisis and environmental pollution. Renewable energy with the merits of almost unlimited availability and environmental-friendliness provides a perfect solution to the problem. Solar energy is widely recognized as one of the most important renewable energy resources due to its even distribution, safety and serving as sources for others. In past decades, global solar thermal capacity increases rapidly and now it has been widely used worldwide to provide heating and cooling. To understand the current progress of relevant technologies and the future development, this paper briefly summarizes the current situation of solar heating and cooling, and then some new achievements in related areas and potential future market penetration are discussed. It is found that solar hot water heating system's development is in fast lane in recent years with evacuated tube solar collector dominating the mass market. How to integrate solar collecting system with different types of buildings is the main research and development direction for solar building heating system. Large-scale district water heating system and solar PVT system as the most promising solutions attract extensive attentions. For solar cooling, efforts have been made to improve the efficiency of conventional solar thermal cooling methods in terms of adsorption and absorption technology. In addition to technical development, economic analysis of solar heating and cooling system is also discussed. Return of investment period is widely adopted to evaluate the economic performance. Results reveal that low initial cost and advantageous allowance are the most efficient ways to make solar heating and cooling system economically attractive. This paper is presented and recommended by 5th International Conference on Nuclear and Renewable Energy Resources.

Abstract:Shanghai is characteristic of subtropical monsoonal climate with the mean annual temperature of 17.6°C, and receives annual total radiation above 4470MJ/m2 with approximately 2000h of sunshine. A solar energy system capable of heating, cooling, natural ventilation and hot water supply has been built in Shanghai Research Institute of Building Science. The system mainly contains 150m2 solar collector arrays, two adsorption chillers, floor radiation heating pipes, finned tube heat exchangers and a hot water storage tank of 2.5m3 in volume. It is used for heating in winter, cooling in summer, natural ventilation in spring and autumn, hot water supply in all the year for 460m2 building area. The whole system is controlled by an industrial control computer and operates automatically. Under typical weather condition of Shanghai, it is found that the average heating capacity is up to 25.04kW in winter, the average refrigerating output reaches 15.31kW in summer and the solar-enhanced natural ventilation air flow rate doubles in transitional seasons. The experimental investigation validated the practical effective operation of the adsorption cooling-based air-conditioning system. After 1-year operation, it is confirmed that the solar system contributes 70% total energy of the involved space for the weather conditions of Shanghai.

Abstract:The green buildings of Shanghai Research Institute of Building Science include an office building for the demonstration of public building and two residential buildings, which are for the demonstration of flat and villa, respectively. Here, a solar-powered integrated energy system including heating, air-conditioning, natural ventilation and hot water supply was designed and constructed for the office building. However, only solar hot-water systems were installed for the flat and villa. All the three solar thermal systems have continuously run for 2 years. Two different integrated approaches have been put into practice in the two green residential buildings. It is shown that, for new buildings, solar collectors can be mounted on balconies and awnings besides roofs, on condition that solar systems become part of the general building design. The solar-powered integrated energy system has the advantage of high utilization ratio with different functions according to different seasons. It is testified to be capable of taking on about 70% of the yearly building load regarding the involved space under the weather condition of Shanghai.

Abstract:China is the second largest country in energy consumption. More and more energy demand pressures cause the Chinese government to review its economy and energy policies in order to support the sustainable development. In China, the building sector amounts to 27.8% total energy consumption, which is only behind the industry sector. China has abundant solar energy resource, which is extensively applied to buildings. Therefore, solar energy utilization in buildings has become one of the most important issues to help China optimize the energy proportion, increasing energy efficiency and protecting the environment. Solar energy resource and its district distribution in China are introduced in detail in this paper, and the representative solar energy application to the building sector is highlighted as well. The solar energy utilization obstacles, especially policy disadvantages in building sector in China, are reviewed. Moreover, the application prospects of solar energy in building sector are presented in combination with the China economic and household industry growth.

Abstract:The increasing cost of fossil fuel and crisis of energy has led the world in a quest for exploiting the free and naturally available energy from the sun to produce electric power. This paper summarizes the development situation of the solar thermal electric technology with description and comparison for three prevalent power generation methods: parabolic trough, parabolic dish-engine, and solar power.
