The Economic Development and Social Progress under the Guidance of "harmony" Thinking in the South of Yangtze River in Han Dynasty

Abstract:Harmony advocated by Confucianism held a dominant position in the orthodox thinking in the Han Dynasty.The upright officials followed harmony,playing an important role in maintaining social stability and promoting civilized progress.The development of the south of Yangtze River made a leap owing to the acception of large numbers of migrants from the north.It is harmony that helped to rationally adjust the relationship between the migrants from the north and local inhabitants,between central government and local government,and between the mainstream of Confucianism and local culture.Furthermore,the upright officials' achievements in politics and culture are the main focus of attention in the Eastern Han history.
