Abstract:Deploying real WSN testbed provides a realistic testing environment, and allows users to get more accurate test results. However, deploying real testbed is highly constrained by the available budget when the test needs a large scale WSN environment. By leveraging the advantages of both simulators and real testbed, an approach that integrates simulation environment and testbed can effectively solve both scalability and accuracy issues. In this paper, we present NetTopo for providing both simulation and visualization functions to assist the investigation of algorithms in WSNs. One case study is described to prove the effectiveness of NetTopo.

Abstract:With the rapid development of Internet and the expanding application fields of network applications, it is not enough to maintain the network security only depend on those professional network technical administrators. In this paper a novel visualization tool based on treemap, which is called NetVis, is introduced to bind the network security technique and general network management together in an integrated visualization. NetVis is designed in 2D view. The experiments show that NetVis can not only detect the abnormal activities in the network, but also make the network management more intuitive and efficient.

Abstract:In order to speed up network modeling in distribution network automation,overall network was divided into five layers with different date structures on the basis of distribution network characteristics.The space for the data was saved.And the object-oriented technology was used in the network modeling.Both static global topology and dynamic local topology were used to reduce searching range and speed up network modeling.The experimental results show that the method improves the speed of network topology,and it illustrates a good prospect of application and extention.

Abstract:This paper proposes a visualization tool called Nebav (Network Behavior Visualization) to display behaviors of large-scale network.. Nebav draws a figure similar to Google Map to show the real-time behaviors of observed subnets. The historical time-diagrams of corresponding parameters drawn by RRDTool are produced at the same time. This paper presents a 2-D matrix which represents NetFlow numbers of ports of hot IP addresses. It combines temporal visualization with geographical visualization and logical visualization to help the security administrators to get full-round network situation awareness.

Abstract:The paper propose a hybrid layout visualization algorithm for network topology,which displays the network topology in a hierarchical and multi-granular method.It can dynamically reflect the operation status of the managed object by changing the icon color according to the periodically monitored state.According to all kinds of network management demands at different levels and the network characteristics of different size,the algorithm adapts to the corresponding graphic layout method to the visualization of all kinds of scenes.The algorithm is implemented and applied to a productive network management system,iNetboss.Actual deployment and operation in Tsinghua University campus network shows that,comparing to single-level layout algorithm,the algorithm can better meet the users＇ demands and better network configuration,management,operation,and monitoring.

Abstract:with the rapid development of visualization, network visualization has become an important branch, which is applied in many aspects of life such as business, education and virtual community. But existed network visualization systems are based on small volume and static effect. Along with the incessant expansion of modern internet scale, traditional tools' practicality decrease. Showing huge information of network clearly and effectively will be of great signification. In our paper, large-scale network topology visualization system is finished by using Web 3D technique-Three. JS in process of building and analysis, which can display topology clearly. As middleware, Node. JS can transfer communication data forward or backward instantaneously, which can solve the problem of dynamic and real-time 3D effects. Node-Webkit framework helps realize its cross-platform feature. This solution can run smoothly and clearly under the 103 order of magnitudes network topology. It makes large scale network visualization more direct and convenient.

Abstract:Traditional topology discovering algorithms are based on SNMP, which is restricted by deployment and authorization. This paper discusses the architecture and some key techniques in constructing a topology discovering system based on ICMP. This system is developed targeted at campus network. The results of experimentation are presented on a map. It shows that the methods and discovery principles taken by the topology discovering system are feasible and general.

Abstract:This paper describes a visualization design for network information representation. The aim of the design is to provide graphical presentations of large-scale and complex networks and help network administrators to manage large-scale networks easily and detect failures on networks promptly. Central to the design is the visualization of network topologies with rich information about the device and connections within the network visually displayed. Based on the design, a prototype application has been implemented using the NetBeans platform, and it has been run over a university-scale network to test the performance.

Abstract:Data visualization is an important approach for data analysis, which can reveal the patterns and characteristics of complex datasets through visual processing, and provide aid for data analysts. In recent years, with the expansion of Internet users and the rich diversity of various Internet applications, the importance of network security is increasing. In the field of network security data analysis, it is a developing direction to use data visualization methods and visual analysis tools to assist manual analysis. In this paper, a visualization system for network security data is designed and implemented, which is mainly based on network flow records and security policies. The node centrality measurement and high-dimensional data visualization methods are comprehensively applied, and an interactive visualization approach is proposed. The IP topology is presented in three different view modes: static analysis, temporal analysis and exploration analysis. In addition, the high-dimensional projection map takes flow, security policy and IP address as analysis objects and selects several dimensional features as indicators. After visual presentation, the distribution of the stream set and IP set contained in the record after projection in the selected dimension space can be obtained, so that the analyst can find the points with significant abnormal eigenvalue distribution, and deduce the possible situation based on this. After testing, the system can accept the new original data record file, and quickly generate the corresponding visualization content, which can be used for the visualization analysis of network security optimization tool software, and has been used in the actual system.

Abstract:Network topology discovery is important for the modern network management,analysis of performance and localization of fault.According to the characteristics of actual heterogeneous network,after the analysis of the existing algorithm based on MAC address forwarding table,submits a new algorithm of physical topology discovery in heterogeneous IP network depended on SNMP protocol,the algorithm can discover physical layer topology in a efficient,accurate and complete way,which can be applied to discover not only the managed devices,but also the non-managed dumb devices(e.g.HUBs).

Abstract:The network topology structure of ZigBee plays an important role in network performance analysis, network node deployment, node stress test and safety monitoring. Due to the large scale network , the point coverage, edge crossing and graphic congestion may occur in the visualization model of the network topology, thus the complexity and time consuming of algorithm would be increased, thus the effect of visualization is affected. To solve these problems and meet the real-time online display demand, a ZigBee Tree -Star WSN topologic visualization reproduction algorithm based on coordinate transformation virtual node model is proposed, which can adaptively change the nodes. The hierarchical algorithm models plan the layout of the nodes when the number of nodes is small. The virtual node model extends the layout when the number of nodes is large. This algorithm has also high reference value for ZigBee network management. Experiments show that this algorithm features less time and low spatial complexity, which can solve the problem of chaotic layout due to a large number of intersections, and adapt to the large-scale node online visualization requirements of ZigBee network.

Abstract:Internet consists of many autonomous systems and the interconnection of the ASes reflect the macrostructure of the Internet.Research on the interconnection among ASes can help analyze the characteristics of the network.This paper focuses on the discovery of AS-level Internet topology.It implements an Internet topology discovery system which analyzes BGP tables to get the AS-level topology then display it directly.By analyzing degree distribution properties in the topology,the inherent power-law distribution property of the derived topology can be seen.

Abstract:Network virtualization is recognized as an effective way to overcome the ossification of the Internet. However, the virtual network mapping problem (VNMP) is a critical challenge, focusing on how to map the virtual networks to the substrate network with efficient utilization of infrastructure resources. The problem can be divided into two phases: node mapping phase and link mapping phase. In the node mapping phase, the existing algorithms usually map those virtual nodes with a complete greedy strategy, without considering the topology among these virtual nodes, resulting in too long substrate paths (with multiple hops). Addressing this problem, we propose a topology awareness mapping algorithm, which considers the topology among these virtual nodes. In the link mapping phase, the new algorithm adopts the k-shortest path algorithm. Simulation results show that the new algorithm greatly increases the long-term average revenue, the acceptance ratio, and the long-term revenue-to-cost ratio (R/C).

Abstract:Currently, packet sniffer tools can capture packets and provide information for monitoring, analyzing, and troubleshooting networks, e.g., traffic, bandwidth, protocol, etc. However, these tools lack the capability, or feature, to display a network topology diagram on the screen, particularly for a WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network), which is different from expensive network monitoring software sold commercially in the market. Therefore, it is difficult for a network administrator to visualize which client is connected to which AP (Access point) in the service areas of WLAN, or hotspots, for monitoring. This paper presents the development of the WLAN topology display system to support the network administrator in monitoring and enhancing the network services in the future. The system acquires the packet data captured by the packet sniffer tool, i.e., Wireshark. Then, the packet information is analyzed by using the data from the MAC (Medium Access Control) header following the IEEE802.11 standard to find the types, connection modes, and MAC addresses. Finally, the mapping table associated with the connected devices, i.e., client stations and APs, is constructed and used to create the WLAN topology diagram to display on the screen. The prototype system is implemented and tested in the laboratory environment, and the WLAN topology diagram showing the connections between the clients and the APs can be displayed on screen accurately as required.
