Abstract:Dura mater is an important barrier to protect the brain tissue. Trauma, cancer and surgery can lead to dural defect. Currently, they are many materials to repair dural defect, but all have shortcomings. Therefore, more desirable alternative materials need to be studied. Dural repair materials include autologous fascia, allograft materials, natural and synthetic materials, and dissimilar materials. The former two types of alternative materials show good results after transplantation, but their source is few, thus limiting a widely use in clinical practice. Dissimilar materials can be taken simply to facilitate the shortage of other transplant materials, such as pigs. Their convenient source, easy breeding, and a high similarity as human anatomy and physiology, all contribute to a good donor transplant; Due to less infection and transplant rejection after transplantation, pig peritonium can be used as a better donor of dura mater transplantation.
