Abstract:Objective To investigate the sources and techniques of dural reconstruction with autologous tissues. Methods Results 999 cases operated during, Of the 165 cases with dural defects,122 cases were reconstructed with autologous subgaleal layer, cranial periosteum, fascia lata of thigh or outer layer of dural mater, respectively. All the dural defects were reconstructed satisfactorily without infection, subscalp hydrop or cerebrospinal fluid leakage. With more than 6 months follow-up, there was no harmful reaction; Compared with the 43 cases of reconstructed with artificial biomaterial, 2 cases were found fever, scalp inflammation and the artificial biomaterial were taken out of by second operation. Conclusion Being easy obtained and practical, autologous tissues should be the first choice for reconstruction of the dural defects when it is needed in clinic.
