Abstract:The problem of H-infinity control for a class of linear systems with state saturation nonlinearities is considered in this paper. By introducing a row diagonally dominant matrix with negative diagonal elements and a diagonal matrix with positive elements, the H-infinity control problem is reduced to a matrix inequality feasibility problem that can be solved by the proposed iterative linear matrix inequality algorithm. The effectiveness of the presented method is demonstrated by a numerical example.

Abstract:The problem of robust H-infinity control for a class of uncertain singular time-delay systems is studied in this paper. A new approach is proposed to describe the relationship between slow and fast subsystems of singular time-delay systems, based on which, a sufficient condition is presented for a singular time-delay system to be regular, impulse free and stable with an H-infinity performance. The robust H-infinity control problem is solved and an explicit expression of the desired state-feedback control law is also given. The obtained results are formulated in terms of strict linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) involving no decomposition of system matrices. A numerical example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:Necessary and sufficient condition for robust H∞ control of dynamic interval systems is proposed. This robust H∞ controller guarantees not only the quadratic stability of the closed-loop systems but also the disturbance attenuation within a prescribed level in the H∞-norm sense. The results are obtained in terms of linear matrix inequalities. The illustrative example shows that this method is effective to obtain the robust H∞ controller for dynamic interval systems.

Abstract:In this paper, the design problem of alpha-robust H-infinity state feedback controller for a class of linear parameter-varying (LPV) systems with time-delay is addressed. A sufficient condition for the existence of alpha-robust H-infinity state feedback controller is derived in terms of a new method and the corresponding design method of the controller is given. Furthermore, illustrative example is given to demonstrate the superiority of the presented method.

Abstract:This paper deals with the problem of disturbance attenuation via output feedback with internal stability for Lipschitz nonlinear systems. The main result is given in terms of the solutions of a Riccati equation and a Hamilton-Jacobi inequality. Abstract:This article deals with the interval type-2 (IT2) fuzzy model-based H infinity control problem for networked singularly perturbed systems (SPSs) under fading channel. To prevent data colli-sion, a weighted try-once-discard (WTOD) communication scheme is adopted to adjust the communication sequence of sensor nodes. Based on this transmission strategy, only one sensor with more considerable difference is allowed to be transmitted at each time instant. On the other hand, a time-varying stochastic process model is introduced to describe the behavior of the fading channels in unreliable networks. Based on fading state signal and known bounds, the imperfectly matched membership functions (MFs) are reconstructed in the controller. Accordingly, under the effect of fading channels and WTOD protocol, a new IT2 fuzzy controller is constructed for the networked IT2 fuzzy SPSs. Meanwhile, by con-structing a singular perturbation parameter (SPP) dependent Lyapunov function, sufficient conditions are established to guarantee the mean square stability of networked IT2 fuzzy SPSs, and the numerical stiffness issue is avoided. By the Lyapunov stability theory, this paper designs an H∞ controller such that the corresponding closed-loop system is exponentially stable in the mean square and satisfies a prescribed H∞ performance level. Abstract:This paper focuses on the problem of robust H-infinity control for linear uncertain time-delay systems with norm-bounded nonlinear uncertainty in both the state and control. Also, the time delay is time-varying and can exist both in the state and control. Using the fact that the type of nonlinear uncertainty set considered here has an equivalent representation by linear uncertainty set, we propose an approach for designing a memoryless state feedback control law which will stabilize the time-delay systems and, simultaneously, guarantee a prespecified H-infinity disturbance attenuation constraint for all admissible uncertainty.

Abstract:We develop a novel frequency-based H-infinity control method for a large class of infinite-dimensional Linear-Time-Invariant systems in transfer function form. Major benefits of our approach is that reduction or identification techniques are not needed thereby avoiding possible distortions. It can exploit either transfer function models or input/output frequency response data when available. It computes simple practical controllers of any size and structure. We use a non-smooth trust-region method to compute arbitrarily structured locally optimal H-infinity controllers for a frequency sampled approximation of the underlying infinite-dimensional H-infinity problem in such a way that exponential stability in closed-loop is guaranteed, and the optimal value of the approximation captures the value of the infinite-dimensional problem within a prior tolerance level. We demonstrate the versatility and practicality of our method on a variety of infinite-dimensional H-infinity synthesis problems, including distributed and boundary control of PDEs, control of dead time and delay systems, and using a rich testing set.

Abstract:The H-infinity entropy in H-infinity control theory is discussed based on investigating information transmission in continuous-time linear stochastic systems. It is proved that the stabilizing feedback does not change the time-average information transmission between system input and output, and the H-infinity entropies of open- and closed-loop stable transfer functions are bounded by mutual information rate between input and output in the open-loop system. Furthermore, a new H-2 upper bound for H-infinity entropy is introduced with a numerical example. Thus the H. entropy of a stable transfer function is sandwiched between H-2 norms of the original system and a static feedback system.

Abstract:This paper proposes several H-infinity performance preserving controller reduction methods. One of the advantages of the proposed methods is that the weighting functions for controller reduction is easy to compute and is readily available from standard H-infinity control design software. Numerical simulations show that the proposed methods are at least as effective as the best method available in the literature.

Abstract:This paper deals with the problem of delay-dependent robust $H_\infty $ control for uncertain systems with time-varying delays and norm-bounded parameter uncertainties. Firstly, some new delay-dependent stability criteria are proposed by exploiting a new Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional and free-weighting matrices method. Secondly, based on the criteria obtained, a delay-dependent criterion for the existence of a memoryless state feedback $H_\infty $ controller that ensures asymptotic stability and a prescribed $H_\infty $ performance level of the closed-loop system for all admissible uncertainties is proposed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). These developed results enjoy much less conservatism than the existing ones due to the introduction of delay segmentation approach to estimate the upper bound of the derivative of Lyapunov functional without ignoring some useful terms that take into account information of the time-delay. Finally, numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness and benefits of the proposed method.

Abstract:This paper presents some new approaches to mixed performance control problems of linear systems. The design techniques proposed in this paper are based on numerical search of the norm bounded stable transfer matrix Q in the H-infinity and H-2 suboptimal controller parameterizations so that the additional performance specifications are satisfied. The design problems are then converted to some finite dimensional non-linear unconstrained optimization problems by explicitly parameterizing the H-infinity or H-2 norm bounded stable transfer matrix Q for any fixed order. Finally, some two-stage optimization algorithms are applied to find the optimal parameters. Numerical examples have shown significant performance improvements of the proposed algorithms over those in the existing literature.

Abstract:In this paper, the H-infinity control problem for the networked control systems (NCSs) is discussed using the linear matrix inequality approach. The network induced delays of the NCSs are considered as interval variables governed by a Markov chain. Using the upper and lower bounds of the delays, a discrete-time Markovian jump system with norm-bounded uncertainties is presented to model the NCSs. Based on this model, the H,,, state feedback controller can be constructed via a set of linear matrix inequalities. A numerical example is given to show the proposed results.

By employing a Razumikhin-type approach, it can be derived that H-infinity and (H) over bar (infinity) controllers can attenuate the effects of external disturbances and stabilize closed-loop systems according to L-2 and (L) over bar (2) gain, even with uncertain time-varying delays imposed on the states or the control inputs.

Abstract:This paper discusses the robust H ∞ control problem for discrete-time switched interval system. The multiple Lyapunov function method is combined with the Finsler's Lemma to generate several new results which provide extra degree of freedom for stability analysis and control synthesis. A new sufficient condition is obtained for the unforced discrete-time switched interval system, then, based on the above discussion, the robust H ∞ control synthesis via state feedback is studied for the closed-loop switched interval system. Finally, two simulation examples are given to illustrate the validity of the results. © 2011 IEEE.
