Mission of the University Curriculum and Pursuit of Value:A Study Based on the Yale Report of 1828

Abstract:The Yale Report of 1828 is Yale's response to the call for the reform of the curriculum in the twenties of the 19th century.A study of the Report shows that,according to Yale University,the essence of college education was to build a foundation for complete education,the target of the curriculum should be based on mental training and mental facilities,the course content should include studies of classics and the curriculum should be carried out and managed in the form of lectures and tutorial system.The Yale Report clarifies the mission of the curriculum and the pursuit of value and accurately expresses America's idea of free education in the first half of the 19th century.
