Value of coronary angiography intravascular ultrasound in diagnosis of variant angina pectoris

Abstract:Objective To investigate the value of coronary angiography and intravascular ultrasound in the diagnosis of variant angina pectoris.Methods Twenty-three patients with coronary heart disease in our hospital from December 2007 to March 2009 were enrolled,among them 10 patients with variant angina pectoris and 13 patients with stable angina pectoris.Indexes of characteristics,morphology and location of plaque,lumen area stenosis degree and remodeling were detected after coronary angiography and intravascular ultrasound.Results The atheroma eccentricity index,local and lumen area stenosis degree in patients with variant angina pectoris were 0.90±0.06,(53.56±3.88)% and(41.23±23.91)% respectively,while in stable angina pectorisis they were 0.70±0.25,(68.66±14.52)% and(63.10±14.64)% respectively(all P<0.05).A statistic difference of remolding index,positive and negative remolding indexes in two groups could be observed(P<0.05).A statistic difference of coronary angiography and intravascular ultrasound were observed in lumen area stenosis degree and mild and moderate lumen area stenosis,but no statistic difference in severe lumen area stenosis existed.Conclusion The features of intravascular ultrasound in variant angina pectoris were more mild and moderate lumen area stenosis degree,eccentric plaque with positive remodeling.The degree of area stenosis of cornary angiography was easily underestimated.
