Abstract:Objective To understand the environmental pollution caused by the smoke of using the electric knife in surgery and the concentration of respirable material.Methods The surgeries lasting one hour or more were selected.Sterilized 4mm diameter silicone tube was fixed on the high-frequency electric knife,and the silicone tube opening from the electric knife pen was about 3-5cm.The other end of the silicone pipe was connected to CJL-E 301 laser particle counting device from the operating table and the smoke was collected on the use of the knife in surgery.Results The smoke contained large amounts of toxic and hazardous chemicals,and the smoke concentration was up to 3×108/m3,in which 95% of aerosol particle size was less than 2.5 μm.Conclusion The diffuse smoke of the electric knife inhaled by medical staff through noses and mouths in the operating room will cause health hazards.
