Abstract:We prove that triangulated categories with bounded t-structures are Karoubian. Consequently, for an Ext-finite abelian category over a commutative noetherian complete local ring, its bounded derived category is Krull–Schmidt.

Abstract:Recently, Amnon Neeman settled a bold conjecture by Antieau, Gepner, and Heller regarding the relationship between the regularity of finite-dimensional noetherian schemes and the existence of bounded $t$-structures on their derived categories of perfect complexes. In this paper, using different methods, we prove some very general results about the existence of bounded $t$-structures on (not necessarily algebraic or topological) triangulated categories and their invariance under completion. We show that if the opposite category of an essentially small triangulated category has finite finitistic dimension in our sense, then the existence of a bounded t-structure on it forces it to be equal to its completion. We also prove a parallel result regarding the equivalence of all bounded t-structures on any intermediate triangulated category between the starting category and its completion. Our general treatment, when specialized to the case of schemes, immediately gives us Neeman's theorem as an application and significantly generalizes another remarkable theorem by Neeman about the equivalence of bounded $t$-structures on the bounded derived categories of coherent sheaves. When specialized to other cases like associative rings, nonpositive DG-rings, connective $\mathbb{E}_1$-rings, triangulated categories without models, etc., we get many other applications. Under mild finiteness assumptions, these results not only give a categorical obstruction (the singularity category in our sense) to the existence of bounded $t$-structures on a triangulated category, but also provide plenty of triangulated categories on which all bounded $t$-structures are equivalent. The strategy used in our treatment is introducing a new concept of finitistic dimension for triangulated categories and lifting $t$-structures along completions of triangulated categories.

Abstract:Let $R$ be a commutative ring If $\mathcal{C}_1$ and $\mathcal{C}_2$ are $R$-linear triangulated categories then we can give an obvious triangulated structure on $\mathcal{C} = \mathcal{C}_1 \oplus \mathcal{C}_2$ where $Hom_\mathcal{C}(U, V) = 0$ if $U \in \mathcal{C}_i$ and $V \in \mathcal{C}_j$ with $i \neq j$. We say a $R$-linear triangulated category $\mathcal{C}$ is disconnected if $\mathcal{C} = \mathcal{C}_1 \oplus \mathcal{C}_2$ where $\mathcal{C}_i$ are non-zero triangulated subcategories of $\mathcal{C}$. Let $\mathcal{C}_i$ and $\mathcal{D}_j$ be connected triangulated $R$ categories with $i \in \Gamma$ and $j \in \Lambda$. Suppose there is an equivalence of triangulated $R$-categories \[ \Phi \colon \bigoplus_{i \in \Gamma}\mathcal{C}_i \xrightarrow{\cong} \bigoplus_{j \in \Lambda}\mathcal{D}_j \] Then we show that there is a bijective function $\pi \colon \Gamma \rightarrow \Lambda$ such that we have an equivalence $\mathcal{C}_i \cong \mathcal{D}_{\pi(i)} $ for all $i \in \Gamma$. We give several examples of connected triangulated categories and also of triangulated subcategories which decompose into utmost finitely many components.

Abstract:In this article we study a relative monoidal version of the Bondal-Orlov reconstruction theorem. We establish an uniqueness result for tensor triangulated category structures $(\boxtimes,\mathbb{1})$ on the derived category $D^{b}(X)$ of a variety $X$ which is smooth projective and faithfully flat over a quasi-compact quasi-separated base scheme $S$ in the case where the fibers $X_{s}$ over any point $s\in S$ all have ample (anti-)canonical bundles. To do so we construct a stack $\Gamma$ of dg-bifunctors which parametrize the local homotopical behaviour of $\boxtimes$, and we study some of its properties around the derived categories of the fibers $X_{s}$.

Abstract:Buchweitz related the singularity category of a (strongly) Gorenstein ring and the stable category of maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules by a triangle equivalence. We phrase his result in a relative categorical setting based on N-complexes instead of classical 2-complexes. The role of Cohen-Macaulay modules is played by chains of monics in a Frobenius subcategory of an exact category. As a byproduct, we provide foundational results on derived categories of N-complexes over exact categories known from the Abelian case or for 2-complexes.

On uniqueness of tensor products of irreducible categorifications

Abstract:In this paper, we propose an axiomatic definition for a tensor product categorification. A tensor product categorification is an abelian category with a categorical action of a Kac-Moody algebra g in the sense of Rouquier or Khovanov-Lauda whose Grothendieck group is isomorphic to a tensor product of simple modules. However, we require a much stronger structure than a mere isomorphism of representations; most importantly, each such categorical representation must have standardly stratified structure compatible with the categorification functors, and with combinatorics matching those of the tensor product. With these stronger conditions, we recover a uniqueness theorem similar in flavor to that of Rouquier for categorifications of simple modules. Furthermore, we already know of an example of such a categorification: the representations of algebras T^\lambda previously defined by the second author using generators and relations. Next, we show that tensor product categorifications give a categorical realization of tensor product crystals analogous to that for simple crystals given by cyclotomic quotients of KLR algebras. Examples of such categories are also readily found in more classical representation theory; for finite and affine type A, tensor product categorifications can be realized as quotients of the representation categories of cyclotomic q-Schur algebras.

Stratification of Derived Categories of Tate Motives

Abstract:We classify the localizing tensor ideals of the derived categories of mixed Tate motives over certain algebraically closed fields. More precisely, we prove that these categories are stratified in the sense of Barthel, Heard and Sanders. A key ingredient in the proof is the development of a new technique for transporting stratification between categories by means of Brown--Adams representability, which may be of independent interest.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove that the lower triangular matrix category , where and are -finite, Krull–Schmidt -quasi-hereditary categories and is an -module that satisfies suitable conditions, is quasi-hereditary. This result generalizes the work of B. Zhu in his study on triangular matrix algebras over quasi-hereditary algebras. Moreover, we obtain a characterization of the category of the -filtered -modules.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to develop a framework for localization theory of triangulated categories , that is, from a given extension-closed subcategory of , we construct a natural extriangulated structure on together with an exact functor satisfying a suitable universality, which unifies several phenomena. Precisely, a given subcategory is thick if and only if the localization corresponds to a triangulated category. In this case, Q is nothing other than the usual Verdier quotient. Furthermore, it is revealed that is an exact category if and only if satisfies a generating condition . Such an (abelian) exact localization provides a good understanding of some cohomological functors , e.g., the heart of t -structures on and the abelian quotient of by a cluster-tilting subcategory .

Abstract:For a d-Calabi-Yau triangulated category C with a d-cluster tilting subcategory T, the decomposition of C is determined by the decomposition of T satisfying 'vanishing condition' of negative extension groups, namely, C=circle plus C-i is an element of I(i), where C-i, i is an element of I, are triangulated subcategories, if and only if T=circle plus T-i is an element of I(i), where T-i, i is an element of I, are subcategories with Hom(C)(T-i[t], T-j)=0, for all 0 < t < d-2 and i not equal j. This induces that for any two cluster tilting objects T and T' in a 2-Calabi-Yau triangulated category C, the Gabriel quiver of the endomorphism algebra End(C)T is connected if and only if so is that of End(C)T'. As an application, we prove that the indecomposable 2-Calabi-Yau triangulated categories with cluster tilting objects have no non-trivial t-structures and no non-trivial co-t-structures. This allows us to give a classification of torsion pairs in those triangulated categories, and to determine further the hearts of torsion pairs in the sense of Nakaoka, which are equivalent to the module categories over the endomorphism algebras of the cores of the torsion pairs. We also discuss the relationship between mutations of torsion pairs and mutations of cluster tilting objects.

Abstract:Suppose $C$ is a smooth projective curve of genus 1 over a perfect field $F$, and $E$ is its Jacobian. In the case that $C$ has no $F$-rational points, so that $C$ and $E$ are not isomorphic, $C$ is an $E$-torsor with a class $\delta(C)\in H^1(\text{Gal}(\bar F/F), E(\bar F))$. Then $\delta(C)$ determines a class $\beta \in \text{Br}(E)/\text{Br}(F)$ and there is a Fourier-Mukai equivalence of derived categories of (twisted) coherent sheaves $\mathcal D(C) \xrightarrow{\cong} \mathcal D(E, \beta^{-1})$. We generalize this result to higher dimensions; namely, we prove it also for torsors over abelian varieties.

Abstract:Let C be a finite braided multitensor category. Then the end B = fX is an element of C X circle times X* is natural a Hopf algebra in C. We show that the Drinfeld center of C is isomorphic to the category of left B- comodules in C, and the decomposition of B into a direct sum of indecomposable C-subcoalgebras leads to a decomposition of B-Comod C into a direct sum of indecomposable C-module subcategories.As an application, we present an explicit characterization of the structure of irreducible Yetter-Drinfeld modules over semisimple and cosemisimple quasi-triangular weak Hopf algebras. Abstract:We give a characterization of the extriangulated categories which admit the structure of a triangulated category. We show that these are the extriangulated categories where for every object X in the extriangulated category, the morphism 0→X is a deflation and the morphism X→0 is an inflation. We thereby give an explicit proof to the statement that for a Frobenius extriangulated category ∐ where proj (∐)=0 , its stable category is triangulated.

Compactly generated tensor t-structures on the derived category of a Noetherian scheme

Abstract:We introduce a tensor compatibility condition for t-structures. For any Noetherian scheme $X$, we prove that there is a one-to-one correspondence between the set of filtrations of Thomason subsets and the set of aisles of compactly generated tensor compatible t-structures on the derived category of $X$. This generalizes the earlier classification of compactly generated t-structures for commutative rings to schemes. Hrbek and Nakamura have reformulated the famous telescope conjecture for t-structures. As an application of our main theorem, we prove that a tensor version of the conjecture is true for separated Noetherian schemes.

Abstract:A k-linear triangulated category A is called locally finite provided Sigma(X is an element of indA) dim(k) Hom(A)(X, Y) < infinity for any indecomposable object Y in A. It has Auslander-Reiten triangles. In this paper, we show that if a (connected) triangulated category has Auslander-Reiten triangles and contains loops, then its Auslander-Reiten quiver is of the form L-n:[GRAPHICS]By using this, we prove that the Auslander-Reiten quiver of any locally finite triangulated category A is of the form Z Delta/G, where Delta is a Dynkin diagram and G is an automorphism group of Z Delta. For most automorphism groups G, the triangulated categories with Z Delta/G as their Auslander-Reiten quivers are constructed. Abstract:Let $\mathcal{T}$ be an algebraic triangulated category and $\mathcal{C}$ an extension-closed subcategory with $\operatorname{Hom}(\mathcal{C}, \Sigma^{<0} \mathcal{C})=0$. Then $\mathcal{C}$ has an exact structure induced from exact triangles in $\mathcal{T}$. Keller and Vossieck say that there exists a triangle functor $\operatorname{D}^b(\mathcal{C}) \to \mathcal{T}$ extending the inclusion $\mathcal{C} \subseteq \mathcal{T}$. We provide the missing details for a complete proof.

Abstract:Let be any closed symmetric monoidal Grothendieck category. We show that K-flat covers exist universally in the category of chain complexes and that the Verdier quotient of by the K-flat complexes is always a well generated triangulated category. Under the further assumption that has a set of -flat generators we can show more: (i) The category is in recollement with the -pure derived category and the usual derived category, and (ii) The usual derived category is the homotopy category of a cofibrantly generated and monoidal model structure whose cofibrant objects are precisely the K-flat complexes. We also give a condition guaranteeing that the right orthogonal to K-flat is precisely the acyclic complexes of -pure injectives. We show this condition holds for quasi-coherent sheaves over a quasi-compact and semiseparated scheme.
