Abstract:Given an algebra in a monoidal 2-category, one can construct a 2-category of right modules. Given a braided algebra in a braided monoidal 2-category, it is possible to refine the notion of right module to that of a local module. Under mild assumptions, we prove that the 2-category of local modules admits a braided monoidal structure. In addition, if the braided monoidal 2-category has duals, we go on to show that the 2-category of local modules also has duals. Furthermore, if it is a braided fusion 2-category, we establish that the 2-category of local modules is a braided multifusion 2-category. We examine various examples. For instance, working within the 2-category of 2-vector spaces, we find that the notion of local module recovers that of braided module 1-category. Finally, we examine the concept of a Lagrangian algebra, that is a braided algebra with trivial 2-category of local modules. In particular, we completely describe Lagrangian algebras in the Drinfeld centers of fusion 2-categories, and we discuss how this result is related to the classifications of topological boundaries of (3+1)d topological phases of matter.

Global 2-rings and genuine refinements

Abstract:We introduce the notion of a naive global 2-ring: a functor from the opposite of the $\infty$-category of global spaces to presentably symmetric monoidal stable $\infty$-categories. By passing to global sections, every naive global 2-ring decategorifies to a multiplicative cohomology theory on global spaces, i.e. a naive global ring. We suggest when a naive global 2-ring deserves to be called \emph{genuine}. As evidence, we associate to such a global 2-ring a family of equivariant cohomology theories which satisfy a version of the change of group axioms introduced by Ginzburg, Kapranov and Vasserot. We further show that the decategorified multiplicative global cohomology theory associated to a genuine global $2$-ring canonically refines to an $\mathbb{E}_\infty$-ring object in global spectra. As we show, two interesting examples of genuine global 2-rings are given by quasi-coherent sheaves on the torsion points of an oriented spectral elliptic curve and Lurie's theory of tempered local systems. In particular, we obtain global spectra representing equivariant elliptic cohomology and tempered cohomology.

Monoidal categorification on some open Richardson varieties

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the cluster morphisms between cluster algebras and the functor of monoidal categories. Our findings demonstrate that there exists a monoidal categorification of the coordinate ring of the open Richardson variety $\mathcal{R}_{w,v}$, where $w=vu$ and $\ell(w)=\ell(u)+\ell(v)$. This result confirms a conjecture proposed by Kashiwara, Kim, Oh, and Park.

On uniqueness of tensor products of irreducible categorifications

Abstract:In this paper, we propose an axiomatic definition for a tensor product categorification. A tensor product categorification is an abelian category with a categorical action of a Kac-Moody algebra g in the sense of Rouquier or Khovanov-Lauda whose Grothendieck group is isomorphic to a tensor product of simple modules. However, we require a much stronger structure than a mere isomorphism of representations; most importantly, each such categorical representation must have standardly stratified structure compatible with the categorification functors, and with combinatorics matching those of the tensor product. With these stronger conditions, we recover a uniqueness theorem similar in flavor to that of Rouquier for categorifications of simple modules. Furthermore, we already know of an example of such a categorification: the representations of algebras T^\lambda previously defined by the second author using generators and relations. Next, we show that tensor product categorifications give a categorical realization of tensor product crystals analogous to that for simple crystals given by cyclotomic quotients of KLR algebras. Examples of such categories are also readily found in more classical representation theory; for finite and affine type A, tensor product categorifications can be realized as quotients of the representation categories of cyclotomic q-Schur algebras.

Abstract:This is the second companion paper of <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1601.03586" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1601.03586">arXiv:1601.03586</a>. We consider the morphism from the variety of triples introduced in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1601.03586" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1601.03586">arXiv:1601.03586</a> to the affine Grassmannian. The direct image of the dualizing complex is a ring object in the equivariant derived category on the affine Grassmannian (equivariant derived Satake category). We show that various constructions in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1601.03586" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1601.03586">arXiv:1601.03586</a> work for an arbitrary commutative ring object. The second purpose of this paper is to study Coulomb branches associated with star shaped quivers, which are expected to be conjectural Higgs branches of $3d$ Sicilian theories in type $A$ by <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1007.0992" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1007.0992">arXiv:1007.0992</a>.

A coherent categorification of the based ring of the lowest two-sided cell

Abstract:We give a partial coherent categorification of $J_0$, the based ring of the lowest two sided cell of an affine Weyl group, equipped with a monoidal functor from the category of coherent sheaves on the derived Steinberg variety. We show that our categorification acts on natural coherent categorifications of the Iwahori invariants of the Schwartz space of the basic affine space. In low rank cases, we construct complexes that lift the basis elements $t_w$ of $J_0$ and their structure constants.

Abstract:The Hecke algebras for all symmetric groups taken together form a braided monoidal category that controls all quantum link invariants of type A and, by extension, the standard canon of topological quantum field theories in dimension 3 and 4. Here we provide the first categorification of this Hecke braided monoidal category, which takes the form of an $\mathbb{E}_2$-monoidal $(\infty,2)$-category whose hom-$(\infty,1)$-categories are $k$-linear, stable, idempotent-complete, and equipped with $\mathbb{Z}$-actions. This categorification is designed to control homotopy-coherent link homology theories and to-be-constructed topological quantum field theories in dimension 4 and 5.

Abstract:As a generalization of acyclic 2-Calabi-Yau categories, we consider 2-Calabi-Yau categories with a directed cluster-tilting subcategory; we study their cluster-tilting subcategories and the cluster combinatorics that they encode. We show that such categories have a cluster structure. Triangulated 2-Calabi-Yau categories with a directed cluster-tilting subcategory are closely related to representations of certain semi-hereditary categories, more specifically to representations of thread quivers. Thread quivers are a tool to classify and study certain semi-hereditary categories using both quivers and linearly ordered sets (threads). We study the case where the thread quiver consists of a single thread (so that representations of this thread quiver correspond to representations of some linearly ordered set), and show that, similar to the case of a Dynkin quiver of type $A$, the cluster-tilting subcategories can be understood via triangulations of an associated cyclically ordered set. In this way, we gain insight into the structure of the cluster-tilting subcategories of 2-Calabi-Yau categories with a directed cluster-tilting subcategory. As an application, we show that every 2-Calabi-Yau category which admits a directed cluster-tilting subcategory with countably many isomorphism classes of indecomposable objects has a cluster-tilting subcategory $\mathcal{V}$ with the following property: any rigid object in the cluster category can be reached from $\mathcal{V}$ by finitely many mutations. This implies that there is a cluster map which is defined on all rigid objects, and thus that there is a cluster algebra whose cluster variables are exactly given by the rigid indecomposable objects.

Categorified Open Topological Field Theories

Abstract:In this short note, we classify linear categorified open topological field theories in dimension two by pivotal Grothendieck-Verdier categories. In combination with recently developed string-net techniques, this leads to a new description of the spaces of conformal blocks of Drinfeld centers $Z(\mathcal{C})$ of pivotal finite tensor categories $\mathcal{C}$ in terms of the modular envelope of the cyclic associative operad. If $\mathcal{C}$ is unimodular, we prove that the space of conformal blocks inherits the structure of a module over the algebra of class functions of $\mathcal{C}$ for every free boundary component. As a further application, we prove that the sewing along a boundary circle for the modular functor for $Z(\mathcal{C})$ can be decomposed into a sewing procedure along an interval and the application of the partial trace. Finally, we construct mapping class group representations from Grothendieck-Verdier categories that are not necessarily rigid and make precise how these generalize existing constructions.

This automatically provides additional structure in the category, such as a composition and an external tensor product, for which we give concrete constructions in order to be used in applications. Abstract:We show that, over an arbitrary commutative ring, the localizations of the categories of dg categories, of cohomologically unital, of unital and of strictly unital $A_\infty$ categories with respect to the corresponding classes of quasi-equivalences are all equivalent. The result is proven at the $\infty$-categorical level by considering the natural $\infty$-categorical models of the categories above. As an application of the techniques we develop to compare the localizations mentioned above, we provide a new proof of the existence of internal Homs for the homotopy category of dg categories in terms of the category of (strictly) unital $A_\infty$ functors. This yields a complete proof of a claim by Kontsevich and Keller.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to develop a framework for localization theory of triangulated categories $\mathcal{C}$, that is, from a given extension-closed subcategory $\mathcal{N}$ of $\mathcal{C}$, we construct a natural extriangulated structure on $\mathcal{C}$ together with an exact functor $Q:\mathcal{C}\to\widetilde{\mathcal{C}}_\mathcal{N}$ satisfying a suitable universality, which unifies several phenomena. Precisely, a given subcategory $\mathcal{N}$ is thick if and only if the localization $\widetilde{\mathcal{C}}_\mathcal{N}$ corresponds to a triangulated category. In this case, $Q$ is nothing other than the usual Verdier quotient. Furthermore, it is revealed that $\widetilde{\mathcal{C}}_\mathcal{N}$ is an exact category if and only if $\mathcal{N}$ satisfies a generating condition $\mathsf{cone}(\mathcal{N},\mathcal{N})=\mathcal{C}$. Such an (abelian) exact localization $\widetilde{\mathcal{C}}_\mathcal{N}$ provides a good understanding of some cohomological functors $\mathcal{C}\to\mathsf{Ab}$, e.g., the heart of $t$-structures on $\mathcal{C}$ and the abelian quotient of $\mathcal{C}$ by a cluster-tilting subcategory $\mathcal{N}$.

On two modular geometric realizations of an affine Hecke algebra

Abstract:In this paper we construct equivalences of monoidal categories relating three geometric or representation-theoretic categorical incarnations of the affine Hecke algebra of a connected reductive algebraic group $G$ over a field of positive characteristic: a category of Harish-Chandra bimodules for the Lie algebra of $G$; the derived category of equivariant coherent sheaves on (a completed version of) the Steinberg variety of the Frobenius twist $G^{(1)}$ of $G$; a derived category of constructible sheaves on the affine flag variety of reductive group which is Langlands dual to $G^{(1)}$. These constructions build on the localization theory developed by the first author with Mirković and Rumynin and previous work of ours (partly joint with L. Rider), and provide an analogue for positive-characteristic coefficients of a construction of the first author. As an application, we prove a conjecture by Finkelberg-Mirković giving a geometric realization of the principal block of algebraic representations of $G$.

Abstract:We construct a non-affine analogue of the singularity category of a Gorenstein local ring. With this, Buchweitz's classic equivalence of three triangulated categories over a Gorenstein local ring has been generalized to schemes, a project started by Murfet and Salarian more than ten years ago. Our construction originates in a framework we develop for singularity categories of exact categories. As an application of this framework in the non-commutative setting, we characterize rings of finite finitistic dimension.
