Abstract:In this paper, we study the regularity of convex solutions to the Dirichlet problem of the homogeneous Monge-Ampere equation det D(2)u = 0. We prove that if the domain is a strip region and the boundary functions are locally uniformly convex and C-k+2,C-alpha smooth, then the solution is C-k+2,C-alpha smooth up to boundary. By an example, we show the solution may fail to be C-2 smooth if boundary functions are not locally uniformly convex. Similar results have also been obtained for the Dirichlet problem on bounded convex domains.

Abstract:Abstract We show that Artin–Schelter regularity of a $\mathbb{Z}$-graded algebra can be examined by its associated $\mathbb{Z}$r-graded algebra. We prove that there is exactly one class of four-dimensional Artin–Schelter regular algebras with two generators of degree one in the Jordan type. This class is strongly noetherian, Auslander regular, and Cohen–Macaulay. Their automorphisms and point modules are described.

Abstract:We study second order linear homogeneous differential equations a(x)y'' + b(x)y' + c(x)y = 0 with analytic coefficients in a neighborhood of a regular singularity in the sense of Frobenius. These equations are model for a number of natural phenomena in sciences and applications in engineering. We address questions which can be divided in the following groups: (i) Regularity of solutions. (ii) Analytic classification of the differential equation. (iii) Formal and differentiable rigidity. (iv) Synthesis and uniqueness of ODEs with a prescribed solution. Our approach is inspired by elements from analytic theory of singularities and complex foliations, adapted to this framework. Our results also reinforce the connection between classical methods in second order analytic ODEs and (geometric) theory of singularities. Our results, though of a clear theoretical content, are important in justifying many procedures in the solution of such equations.

Abstract:In this paper, we will show the existence of partially regular solutions to the initial–boundary value problem for Landau–Lifshitz equations with nonpositive anisotropy constants in three or four space dimensions. The partial regularity is proved up to the boundary both for the Dirichlet problem and for the Neumann problem. In addition, for the Neumann case, a generalized stability condition which ensures the partial regularity is given. For equations with positive or negative anisotropy coefficients, we will give two results of existence and uniqueness for the solutions corresponding to ground states.

Abstract:The regularity for the 3-D nematic liquid crystal equations is considered in this paper, it is proved that the Leray–Hopf weak solutions (u, d) is in fact smooth, if the velocity field $$u\in L^\infty (0,T;L^{3,\infty }_x(\mathbb {R}^3))$$ satisfies some addition local small condition $$\begin{aligned} r^{-3}\left| \left\{ x\in B_r(x_0): |u(x,t_0)|>\varepsilon r^{-1}\right\} \right| \le \varepsilon , \end{aligned}$$ which is inspired by the papers [2, 35].

Abstract:In this paper, we prove propagation of $\frac{1}{s}$-Gevrey regularity $(s \in (0, 1))$ and analyticity $(s=1)$ for the Vlasov-Navier-Stokes system on $\mathbb{T}^d \times \mathbb{R}^d$ (and $\mathbb{R}^d\times\mathbb{R}^d$) using a Fourier space method in analogy to the results proved for the Euler system in [Kukavica and Vicol, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc., 2009] and [Levermore and Oliver, JDE, 1997] and for Vlasov-Poisson system in [Velozo Ruiz, Ann. Inst. H. Poincaré C Anal. Non Linéaire, 2021]. More precisely, we give quantitative estimates for the growth of the $\frac{1}{s}$-Gevrey norm and decay of the regularity radius for the solution of the system in terms of $\nabla_x u$, the spatial density $\rho_f$ and the diameter of the support in the velocity variable of the distribution of particles $f$. In particular, this implies existence of $\frac{1}{s}$-Gevrey $(s \in (0, 1))$ and analytic $(s = 1)$ solutions for the Vlasov-Navier-Stokes system in $\mathbb{T}^d\times\mathbb{R}^d$ (and $\mathbb{R}^d\times\mathbb{R}^d$), and global Gevrey solutions in $\mathbb{T}^3\times\mathbb{R}^3$ for sufficiently small data, and an initial data for the Vlasov equation with compact support in velocity.

Analytic and Gevrey class regularity for parametric elliptic eigenvalue problems and applications

Abstract:We investigate a class of parametric elliptic eigenvalue problems with homogeneous essential boundary conditions where the coefficients (and hence the solution $u$) may depend on a parameter $y$. For the efficient approximate evaluation of parameter sensitivities of the first eigenpairs on the entire parameter space we propose and analyse Gevrey class and analytic regularity of the solution with respect to the parameters. This is made possible by a novel proof technique which we introduce and demonstrate in this paper. Our regularity result has immediate implications for convergence of various numerical schemes for parametric elliptic eigenvalue problems, in particular, for elliptic eigenvalue problems with infinitely many parameters arising from elliptic differential operators with random coefficients.

Abstract:We study the Cauchy problem for a class of third order linear anisotropic evolution equations with complex valued lower order terms depending both on time and space variables. Under suitable decay assumptions for $|x| \to \infty$ on these coefficients, we prove a well posedness result in Gevrey-type spaces.

Abstract:We consider a wide class of fully nonlinear integro-differential equations that degenerate when the gradient of the solution vanishes. By using compactness and perturbation arguments, we give a complete characterization of the regularity of viscosity solutions according to different diffusion orders. More precisely, when the order of the fractional diffusion is sufficiently close to 2, we obtain Hölder continuity for the gradient of any viscosity solutions and further derive an improved gradient regularity estimate at the origin. For the order of the fractional diffusion in the interval $(1, 2)$, we prove that there is at least one solution of class $C^{1, \alpha}_{\rm loc}$. Additionally, if the order of the fractional diffusion is in the interval $(0,1]$, the local Hölder continuity of solutions is inferred.

Abstract:We find an iteration technique and thus prove the optimal global regularity for the boundary value problem of a class of singular differential equations with strongly singular lower terms at the boundary. As applications, we obtain the regularity for the radial solutions of Ginzburg-Landau equations and harmonic maps.

Abstract:We classify regularity for Lagrangian mean curvature type equations, which include the potential equation for prescribed Lagrangian mean curvature and those for Lagrangian mean curvature flow self-shrinkers and expanders, translating solitons, and rotating solitons. Convex solutions of the second boundary value problem for certain such equations were constructed by Brendle-Warren (J Differ Geom 84(2):267-287, 2010), Huang (J Funct Anal 269(4):1095-1114, 2015), and Wang-Huang-Bao (Calc Var Partial Differ Equ 62(3):74 2023). We first show that convex viscosity solutions are regular provided the Lagrangian angle or phase is and convex in the gradient variable. We next show that for merely Hölder continuous phases, convex solutions are regular if they are for sufficiently large . Singular solutions are given to show that each condition is optimal and that the Hölder exponent is sharp. Along the way, we generalize the constant rank theorem of Bian and Guan to include arbitrary dependence on the Legendre transform.

Pointwise Regularity for Fully Nonlinear Elliptic Equations in General Forms

Abstract:In this paper, we develop systematically the pointwise regularity for viscosity solutions of fully nonlinear elliptic equations in general forms. In particular, the equations with quadratic growth (called natural growth) in the gradient are covered. We obtain a series of interior and boundary pointwise $C^{k,\alpha}$ regularity ($k\geq 1$ and $0<\alpha<1$). In addition, we also derive the pointwise $C^k$ regularity ($k\geq 1$) and $C^{k,\mathrm{lnL}}$ regularity ($k\geq 0$), which correspond to the end points $\alpha=0$ and $\alpha=1$ respectively. Some regularity results are new even for the linear equations. Moreover, the minimum requirements are imposed to obtain above regularity and our proofs are simple.

Abstract:This paper aims to study a family of Leray-$\alpha$ models with periodic bounbary conditions. These models are good approximations for the Navier-Stokes equations. We focus our attention on the critical value of regularization "$\theta$" that garantees the global well-posedness for these models. We conjecture that $\theta= 1/4$ is the critical value to obtain such results. When alpha goes to zero, we prove that the Leray-$\alpha$ solution, with critical regularization, gives rise to a suitable solution to the Navier-Stokes equations. We also introduce an interpolating deconvolution operator that depends on "$\theta$". Then we extend our results of existence, uniqueness and convergence to a family of regularized magnetohydrodynamics equations.

Abstract:In this paper, we delve into the $b$-family of equations and explore regularity properties of its global solutions. Our findings reveal that, irrespective of the real choice of the constitutive parameter, when the initial datum is confined to an analytic Gevrey function the resulting global solution is analytic in both temporal and spatial variables.

Abstract:In this article we investigate Gevrey regularity of formal power series solutions for a certain class of nonlinear moment partial differential equations, the inhomogeneity of which is $\sigma$-Gevrey with respect to the time variable $t$ for a fixed $\sigma\ge 0$. The results are achieved by analyzing the geometric structure of the Newton polygon associated with the equation and are a generalization of similar results obtained for standard nonlinear partial differential equations as well as linear moment differential equations.
