Abstract:Objective To compare the effect of two pulmonary rehabilitation programs for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) on BODE index,depression/anxiety,life quality, and dropping rate. Methods One hundred and fifty-five stable stage COPD patients were divided randomly into three groups.Patients in rehabilitation intervention Ⅰ group were subjected to education, aerobic exercise and body training for 20 weeks.Rehabilitation intervention Ⅱ group patients were subjected to education, aerobic exercise but no body training for 20 weeks.Patients in control group did not received rehabilitation intervention.BODE index,Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA),Hamilton depression rating scale for depression(HRSD),and Activities of daily living(ADL) were evaluated before and after rehabilitation intervention, and the dropping rates were compared. Results After 20-weeks of pulmonary rehabilitation program,depression/anxiety score,6-minute walking distance and degree of dyspnea improved significantly in group Ⅰ and Ⅱ when compared with control group(P0.05).6-minute walking distance and daily living activities were significantly higher in group Ⅰ than in group Ⅱ(P0.01),but the dropping rate was also higher. No significant changes of BODE index, pulmonary function and body mass index(BMI) were observed. Conclusions The two pulmonary rehabilitation strategy tested could improve degree of dyspnea,depression/anxiety score, and exercise ability in stable stage COPD patients.Six-minute walking distance and daily living activities improved more markedly in rehabilitation intervention Ⅰ group.
