Abstract:Tobacco essential oil is a complexity of tobacco secondary metabolites.It is mainly consisted of volatile and semi-volatile compounds.As an important source of tobacco characteristic aroma compounds,tobacco essential oil is mainly used as spices in cigarette blends nowadays.This paper mainly introduced the research progress of concept,chemical composition,extraction technology,analysis method and application of tobacco essential oil.The development prospect in these fields was also explored.

Abstract:Soil salinity is a major abiotic stress in plant agriculture strongly,influencing plant productivity seriously.The alternative strategy is to generate salt tolerant plants through genetic engineering.Tobacco is used as a model crop and also has important economical value.In order to provide reference for studying salt tolerance in tobacco and salinization of land resources development and utilization,the present review summaried the recent research about enhancing the salt tolerance by gene engineering.The existing problems and future prospects were also discussed.

Abstract:Production of transgenic animals is one of the most important fields in modern biotechnology. Up to now, there have been many transgenic animals, such as transgenic mice, rabbits, sheep, goats, swine cattles, chickens and fish and so on. In this paper, the methods transgenic animals, the application of transgenic animals, and the main achievements having been obtained so far are briefly reviewed. At the same time, present problems and prospects in transgenic animals are put forward.

Abstract:Abstract Tobacco, an economic crop and important model plant, has received more progress in salt tolerance with the aid of transgenic technique. Salt stress has become a key research field in abiotic stress. The study of tobacco promotes the understanding about the important adjustment for survival in high salinity environments, including cellular ion transport, osmotic regulation, antioxidation, signal transduction and expression regulation, and protection of cells from stress damage. Genes, which response to salt, have been studied using targeted transgenic technologies in tobacco plants to investigate the molecular mechanisms. The transgenic tobacco plants exhibited higher seed germination and survival rates, better root and shoot growth under salt stress treatments. Transgenic approach could be the promising option for enhancing tobacco production under saline condition. This review highlighted the salt tolerance molecular mechanisms of tobacco.

Abstract:It is a great potential research field that the qualities of tobacco leaves are improved by plant growth regu-lators.At present,the regulating effects of plant growth regulators on the seed germination,the growth of seedlings,root activity,the potassium content of tobacco leaves,nicotine synthesis and the inhibition of axillary buds,and so on,have been studied at home and abroad.In the future,harmonizing the growth and development of tobacco plants and the metabolism balance of inclusion in tobacco by plant growth regulators,improving the quality of tobacco and reducing the residue of exogenous hormones in leaves by chemical regulation would be the further research directions.

Abstract:Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) is an important model plant that has been widely used in plant biological research. Tobacco is also an economic crop in which mature yellow leaves are harvested. Leaf maturity and the yellowing process have a decisive influence on the quality of tobacco products. The mechanism, influencing factors and regulating genes of plant leaf senescence was briefly summarized in this review.The research progress in genes related to tobacco leaf senescence and the effects of exogenous genes on the senescence of tobacco was also summarized. It is of great importance to study tobacco leaf senescence process and related genes in order to improve the quality of tobacco.

Abstract:Metabolomics has been considered one of the most effective means of investigating physiological and biochemical processes and gene function of plants. Here we review the main process of metabolomics and its application status in tobacco research, the regulation mechanisms of physiological and biochemical reactions when tobacco responds to different environmental, biotic and abiotic stresses, chemically induced processes and genetic modifications. Finally, issues of critical significance to current tobacco metabolomics research are discussed and it is noted that integration with other omics is the trend of metabolomics research in tobacco.
