Abstract:For a good understanding of EHV GIS external induced currents in multipoint grounding systems, generation mechanism, distribution characteristics and influence factors analysis of the induced currents have been proposed in this paper. According to the structural characteristics of the multipoint grounding system, self and mutual inductances in GIS were calculated by using Biot-Savart Law. Based on Lenz's law, external flux balance equation of GIS was proposed, which can be used to calculate the induced circuiting currents. And the composition of induced currents in different locations of EHV GIS has been analyzed. Furthermore, 3-D analytical models of GIS were established. And the finite element method (FEM) was used to analyze the influence factors and the distribution characteristics of induced currents. Not only the amplitude but also the phase angles of the induced currents were analyzed in this paper.

Abstract:Uniform charged spherical sphere generated by the electric field in the sphere inside and outside electric field strength distribution is very simple, but it is difficult to obtain the spherical surface of the electric field strength with Gauss’s law . This article introduced the integral calculation and deductive analytic two methods, using field strength’s principle of superposition to calculate the electric field strength value of the charged spherical surface, to obtain a complete electric field strength distribution of the uniformly charged spherical generated electric field . According to the investigation, the present study is the first example.

Abstract:This is an investigation into the exact forms of images of point charges in 2D conducting ellipses and 3D prolate spheroids. For an ellipse with exterior point source, we compare two previous expressions for the analytic continuation inside the ellipse down to the focal line, the location of the image charge. For an interior source, we discover a sequence of image charges lying outside. For a point source close the surface of a spheroid, series solutions for the potential diverge in a region that encompasses the singularities of the continuation of the reflected potential inside the spheroid. We uncover an image system for a point charge on the axis of a prolate spheroid that extends from the focal segment somewhat further up the axis. For an off axis charge we find a new approximate image charge. For a point charge at the center of the spheroid, the image singularity is found to lie on an infinitely wide, flat sheet with a hole around the spheroid. For a point charge located anywhere inside the spheroid, we find two new approximate image charge solutions, a point charge in real space which applies when source lies near the surface, or a point charge in complex space which projects as a ring in the real space which applies when the source lies near the rotation axis. When the point charge lies exactly on a focal point, a multipole of order 1/2 is an ideal image approximation.

Abstract:Analytic expressions of the dyadic Green's function of an arbitrary electric current source embedded in a general biisotropic sphere are presented at first, and the radiation characteristics of an electric dipole antenna placed on the surface of a biisotropic sphere lens are examined. The effects of the electric-and the magnetic-coefficients (ξ e and ξ m ) of biisotropic medium on the radiation patterns of electric dipole antenna are investigated in detail.

Abstract:Often it is difficult to calculate the dipole moments of clusters of conducting particles imposed to uniform electric fields, because of the difficulty in handling the mutual coupling between the particles. Such mutual coupling generally causes the polarization of the particles to be dependent upon the structures and the sizes of the clusters. In this paper, an image dipole method is employed for the analysis of this effect. First, a pair of two identical conducting spheres with arbitrary separation immersed in a longitudinal or transverse field is considered, and the image dipoles and image charges, and their distribution induced in each sphere are determined. Then, the dipole moments for the clusters with 4 and 8 spheres arranged on the vertexes of a square or a cube are estimated, and closed-form expressions are given. Comparison with previous calculations is made, and good agreement has been obtained.

Abstract:A new method to calculate the magnetic field due to a uniformly magnetized sphere or spherical shell with surface current density ̂ = ̂̂ sin ̂ using solid angle concept is presented. The field can be shown easily to be constant inside the shell and dipole-like outside with a direct integral of the Biot-Savart's law without invoking magnetic vector potential or special scalar functions typically used for this classical problem.

Abstract:The potential energy interaction between a system of N -charged particles and a spherical conducting surface is obtained by means of direct integration of the electrostatic energy density. Making use of the image charge method, we show that the full potential can be split into a sum of one-body central potentials and two-body contributions related to particle–particle and particle–sphere interactions. Analytical expressions are provided for all contributions. The spherical surface of radius R can be considered to correspond to a cavity inside a conductor or a metallic ball, with two different electric conditions, namely the grounded and isolated charged cases. By taking the limit R → ∞ of the spherical case, one recovers the image potential for an N -charged particle system interacting with a planar conductor. While the final results for the potential do not appear as unexpected, the provided analytical expressions should help in diverse physical applications modelled by a number of charged particles interacting close to a spherical surface.

Abstract:Inductance coupling, caused by the mutual inductance between two circuits, is a very important factor in electromagnetic interference(EMI). While calculating the interference of a certain interference source to different locations, the traditional method is to simulate each location separately, which takes too long time and takes up more computer resources. This method is not conducive to the calculation of complex models, especially when it is necessary to calculate the mutual inductance of multiple locations in space. This paper proposes a new calculation method, which can quickly calculate the mutual inductance of the loop in any position on the space based on the simulation results, and save a lot of time while ensuring accuracy of results.

Abstract:The simple analytical formula for the electromagnetic field radiated by a horizontal infinitely long wire over the planar surface of the earth coated with a dielectric layer is derived. It is concluded that the total field includes four modes: the direct wave, the ideal reflected wave or image wave, the lateral wave, and the trapped surface wave. In particular, both the trapped surface wave and the lateral wave are examined in detail. From analysis and computations, it is demonstrated the trapped surface wave, which is determined by the sum of residues of the poles, can be excited efficiently. When both the infinitely long wire and the observation point are on or near the planar surface, the trapped surface wave is dominant.

Abstract:Taking several one-dimensional charge distribution systems as an example , the electric field lines and potential lin-ear equations are firstly deduced.Then, the data matrix of the distribution about these curves is established by using matrix func-tion of Origin software.Finally, the graphics of these curves are drawn by using Origin.Our results show that it does not need to program for simulation by Origin, this method is simple and easy to use, and the simulation figures are accurate and beautiful.The simulation can provide an intuitive and convenient understanding to the classroom teaching of the static electricity field , thus this can be used for overcoming the shortcomings of the traditional teaching method .Furthermore, it can deepen the understanding of the distribution of the electrostatic field .

Abstract:Scattering characteristics of electromagnetic waves are analyzed by a uniformly charged coated sphere using the Lorenz -Mie theory. Numerical calculations are presented for charges on the surfaces of the interior core and exterior shell, respectively. When the surfaces are charged, the extinction efficiencies are affected by the radius ratio of the two layers and the surface potential. The scattering characteristics are further simplified to Rayleigh scattering using the Taylor expansion in a regime where scattering is significantly influenced by charges. The Rayleigh scattering in this regime can replace the analytical solution derived from the Lorenz-Mie theory. (c) 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Abstract:A new method to calculate the electric field inside a spherical shell with surface charge in terms of solid angle is presented. The integral can be readily carried out without invoking special functions typically used for this classical problem. For a flat surface of uniform charge density, the electric field normal to the surface is shown to be proportional to the solid angle subtended by the surface only.

Abstract:In this paper, the electromagnetic field of a horizontal infinitely long magnetic line source over the dielectric-coated earth is treated analytically, and the complete approximate solution for the radiated field under the far-field conditions is outlined. The total field is composed of four modes: the direct wave, the ideal reflected wave or image wave, the trapped surface wave, and the lateral wave. In particular, the complete analytical formulas are obtained for both the trapped surface wave and the lateral wave. The trapped surface wave is determined by the sum of residues of the poles. When the infinitely long magnetic line source or the observation point is away from the planar surface of the dielectric-coated earth, the trapped surface wave decreases exponentially with height, and the total field is determined primarily by the lateral wave. When the conductivity of the earth is large, and both the infinitely long magnetic line source and the observation point are on or close to the air-dielectric boundary, the total field is determined primarily by the trapped surface wave.

Abstract:Using Monte Carlo simulation,this paper studied the potential distribution around a uniform charged rotation ellipsoid,and presented a comparison between our calculation results and those by electric multipolar moments.The results indicate that the difference of two methods is less than 0.03% when the distance between source and field point is much greater than the length of the charged system.

Abstract:The field distribution on the hemispherical apex of a single carbon nanotube field emitter was calculated. The pseudo-charges and image-charges were assumed in the calculation. And the approximated linear dependence of the field enhancement factor on the aspect ratio of the carbon nanotube field emitter was derived. The results show that the aspect ratio of the carbon naotube has little impact on the field distribution on the hollow hemispherical apex, and that the current emitted from the apex surface is much stronger than that from the side walls of the carbon nanotube.

Abstract:This work aims to build a bridge between probability methods and finite element methods. It starts with considering probability distributions supported in an interval [a,b], which incorporate the traditional probability distributions defined on the whole real space as limit cases on the one hand, lead to a type of spherical probability models with wide potential applications on the other hand. This type of probability has scaling and symmetry feature, and sufficient conditions under which a density function can be generated through discrete polynomial spectrum are given in this work followed by concrete examples. The density function ρ obtained in this way has the advantage of being positive definite. Computer based numerical simulation shows that the theoretically verified criteria for probability distribution are almost optimal with respect to our testing examples. After the establishment of an approximation theorem in L1 space, we propose a probabilistic Galerkin scheme that can be either continuous or discontinuous, which is potentially useful to asymptotically solve some PDEs on the sphere locally and globally.
Interpreting Sphere Images Using the Double-Contact Theorem

Abstract:An occluding contour of a sphere is projected to a conic in the perspective image, and such a conic is called a sphere image. Recently, it has been discovered that each sphere image is tangent to the image of the absolute conic at two double-contact image points. The double-contact theorem describes the properties of three conics which all have double contact with another conic. This theorem provides a linear algorithm to find the another conic if these three conics are given. In this paper, the double-contact theorem is employed to interpret the properties among three sphere images and the image of the absolute conic. The image of the absolute conic can be determined from three sphere images using the double-contact theorem. Therefore, a linear calibration method using three sphere images is obtained. Only three sphere images are required, and all five intrinsic parameters are recovered linearly without making assumptions, such as, zero-skew or unitary aspect ratio. Extensive experiments on simulated and real data were performed and shown that our calibration method is an order of magnitude faster than previous optimized methods and a little faster than former linear methods while maintaining comparable accuracy.

Abstract:When an uncharged conductor is moved to the electric field produced by a point charge,there will be induced charge distribuion on the surface of the conductor.It is proved that for conductor with arbitrary shape,the interaction energy between the point charge and the conductor is half of the coulomb interaction energy between the point charge and image charges.Furthermore a very simple understanding to this result is provided.

Abstract:It was established that a field theory of counter-ion density distributions in a sphere kernel-shell model. Two different approximation methods, the Poisson-Boltzmann method and strong coupling method, corresponding to the weak and strong coupling limits respectively, were obtained. The PB approach gives asymptotically exact counter-ion density profiles, which compare well with the simulation results, around macroscopic charged objects and forces between macroscopic charged objects in the weak-couplinhg limit of low counter-ion valency, low surface-charge density, and high temperature. In the strong coupling limits, by analyzing the results of the strong coupling methods and comparing with Monte Carlo simulations, the validity domain of the methods was given.
