Abstract:Taking network layer testing function of IPTV analyzer as a research background, the overall design framework of the IPTV and the algorithm of network layer testing index in the IPTV are introduced. On the basis of the introduction, the solution of testing these indexs by IP traffic generator is also described. It analyses advanced masterslave mode ,efficient traffic generated algorithm and scheduling algorithm, and then gives the test results of the simulation. The test results show that the solution is clearly thought-out, stable and reliable. The solution has been implemented in IPTV analyzer and got good results.

Abstract:This paper introduces a Video on Demand system based on both CATV broadcasting channels and IP interactive network. CATV broadcasting channels are used for content transmission and IP network is used for control information transmission between Set Top Box and Headend Server. The control mechanism of whole system is designed and implemented according to DSM-CC protocol stacks. The paper narrates the end-to-end system diagram and VoD application software of Set Top Box. The system can be used in CATV network and provide VoD services for CATV subscribers.

Abstract:Digital multimedia broadcasting is available in more and more countries with various forms. One of the most successful forms is Digital Video Broadcasting for Terrestrial (DVB-T), which has been deployed in most countries of the world for years. In order to bring the digital multimedia broadcasting services to battery-powered handheld receivers in a mobile environment, Digital Video Broadcasting for Handheld (DVB-H) has been formally adopted by ETSI. More advanced and complex digital multimedia broadcasting systems are under development, for example, the next generation of DVB-T, a.k.a. DVB-T2. Current commercial DVB-T/H receivers are usually built upon dedicated application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs). However, ASICs are not flexible for incoming evolved standards and less overall-area efficient since they cannot be efficiently reused and shared among different radio standards, when we integrate a DVB-T/H receiver into a mobile phone. This paper presents an example implementation of a DVB-T/H receiver on the prototype of Infineon Technologies' Software-Defined Radio (SDR) platform called MuSIC (Multiple SIMD Cores), which is a DSP-centered and accelerator-assisted architecture and aims at battery-powered mass-market handheld terminals.

Abstract:IPTV live streaming systems with client-sever based content delivery infrastructures cannot provide service to mass clients due to their high requirement of server hardware configuration and network bandwidth.This paper presents a P2P(point-to-poinu) based live streaming system-Clear Live,which tries to achieve better scalability than client-server based system.While current popular P2P IPTV systems support only PC client,our system mainly supports STB client and is compatible with PC client.Clear Live is properly designed according to the characteristic of STB client and application environment of IPTV.The test result of system shows that Clear Live can provide high quality live streaming service to vast number of clients with low cost.

Abstract:Aiming at various high-quality internet multimedia applications,rare computing resources,long update cycle and diverse hardware platforms of smart TVs,this paper proposes a multimedia software platform (STVMP)for smart TV high-quality internet multimedia applications.STVMP can be integrated with embedded Linux kernel to generate an operating system for smart TVs,and makes use of hardware ASIC platform to support the diverse internet multimedia applications while ensures the quality of services.Experiments prove that the STVMP supports current mainstream applications such as IPTV,VOD and datacasting,and has strong cross-platform ability with less computing resource usage.

Abstract:Currently, the demand for multimedia information publication system supporting for multiple terminals is getting more and more emergent. But the capacity of set-top box terminal is limited. In order to improve scalability and reliability, we separated its control logic from physical data transmission. Data transmission is optimized to support a large number of terminals with special algorithms. Time-sharing engine is used to improve performance of system when sources exceed the capacity of STB. Evaluation result shows that the system designed in this paper can provide high-quality information display services for terminal users.

Abstract:In view of the monitoring and maintenance on IPTV network,together with the rapid evolution of the network,to cater to the requirement of the service evolution and the providers' reality,the Ethernet controller of IPTV network tester is designed in this paper. And then,the architecture of the tester is described,the algorithm and indicators extraction of the Ethernet controller are analyzed. Meanwhile,the simulation and verification are also given based on FPGA. The simulating results prove that the design has reliability,stability and good applications in the IPTV network tester.

Abstract:In order to make the Quality of Experience(QoE) metrics of Internet Protocol Television(IPTV) services more accurately approach real user experience and considering heterogeneity of different terminals, this paper proposes design architecture of streaming media player embedded probe system, and gives the implementation of real-time data monitoring and related indicators calculation inside the player. This system can be integrated in a variety of platform through plug-in library, and uses event-driven model to eliminate the decoding delay and performance problems caused by QoE computing tasks. Test results show that the final QoE metrics is closer to the ultimate user’s experience in the time of unexpected delay and I frame packet loss while the probe system itself has low resources cost of only 5%increase and can be easily ported and extended.

Abstract:IPTV is an emerging Internet application, and is revolutionizing the entertainment and media industries. In this paper, we examine the current progress in research and development of IPTV systems. We provide an overview of two major IPTV system architectures, namely, the IP multicast architecture and the P2P architecture, and review various challenges, design issues, and interesting research problems in these approaches, more from an ISP's perspective. We also outline a hybrid IP multicast and P2P IPTV architecture, which enhances the system resilience to network errors, while preserving the desirable properties of the IP multicast system.
