Abstract:Warsaw University library comes from the pro- gram themed “City in Woods”, which is the 1st prize win- ning works in contest by Poland architects Marek Budzyski and Zbigniew Badowski. It is a simple but elegant building with graceful surroundings and with one of the most beautiful roof garden in Europe.

Abstract:This article is about to introduce the history of one of the best of the Polish Post-war Modern architecture examples - building of Rotunda PKO BP, a headquarter of Polish Bank located in the center of Warsaw. The authors are going to introduce the history of the place and this particular building, as wel as the history of the Eastern Wal concept, which Rotunda PKO BP is a part of. This paper is also going to explain the difference between the post war modern architecture and socialism realism-Soviet style architecture-present in the first years after the WW I .

Abstract:Zakopane style was the ifrst polish national style in architecture, that went beyond the theoretical frames. The zakopane style was a mix of podhale folk art with elements of art nouveau. It last in polish history only for about ten years but gained some popularity beyond the podhale region and some examples of it can be found even outside of polish borders.

Abstract:This article is explaining the cur ent situation and chal enges in contemporary architecture in Poland. The biggest problem that Polish society is facing in recent years is lack of home, and poor social housing provided by the government. In turn, architecture and architects are gaining the significance among the society. Among the most influential architects in Poland today are Marek Budzyński, Robert Konieczny and Ingarden&Ewy. Analyse of two buildings designed by those architects’ shows that there are many interesting and innovative solutions in Polish architecture nowadays. In conclusion Polish architecture is cur ently under the transition but it has a potential, the biggest chal enge might be to open it.

Abstract:A new, world-class library has been built at China Agricultural University in Beijing, the oldest agricultural higher education institute in China. The new building's attractive natural stone facades reflect both old and new, from bamboo writing slips to barcodes, while the dramatic internal space is user-friendly, energy-efficient and flexible. During construction, an innovative hybrid diaphragm walling solution was adopted due to the high groundwater level and restricted site. Building information modelling technology was also successfully used throughout design and construction, helping to improve construction quality and safety management.

Abstract:Abstract The Library Extension completed in 2012 featured a minimalist, sustainable, preservative and conservative design that cleverly integrates a love of nature with respect of history. It echoed with the University’s Campus Master Plan and demonstrated how development needs were balanced with preservation concerns. The iconic University Mall and Garden dating back to the 1960s were preserved with an innovative design to provide about 4,500 m 2 of study area and car parking at basement level. The new extension thus maintained a similar height to the original library building and aligned to the iconic axis along the University Mall. The Mall Garden and Landscape were well preserved with skillful design of skylights under the existing pool. Garden features were surveyed and restored to their original appearances after the basement construction. The campus’ much loved house swifts, residing previously on the eaves, were also migrated to the south façade with the introduction of artificial nests. While Green Building design and renewable energy innovations were fully adopted to achieve the highest HKBEAM Platinum standard, the project has provided generous Learning and Research Commons with advanced IT infrastructure which promote causal interactions and knowledge transfer.

Abstract:Library is a symbol of urbanization in the present era. The external shape of the library is more elegant and solemn, and the interior also pays more attention to the convenience and comfort. In the design, we need to pay attention to the enjoyment of architectural art beauty, and at the same time, we need to make the layout of the library more scientific and applicable, and meet the needs of the public reading. As a public building with huge flow of people, the library needs to consume a lot of energy when it is open, which is not in line with the characteristics of green building advocated at present. Therefore, in order to implement the concept of environmental protection, it is necessary to integrate the design of library building with the concept of green building. At the same time, the library is also a cultural building, and it needs to reflect the scientific concept of humanistic care and people- oriented. Therefore, this paper mainly analyzes and discusses the library design under the concept of green building.

Abstract:The library is one of the building functions needed in the university's development standards. A library serves as a place to find information and collections as well as an educational recreation place. Not only providing facilities for the academic community, but Library also expected to be useful for all people, especially those in the surrounding area. For this reason, the supporting area of Science Techno Park which is an area for the development of economic and educational activities in USU Kwala Bekala campus and its surroundings chooses Library as one of its facilities. In USU Kwala Bekala master plan, the location of Library is in the entrance zone with 16 Ha area. This zone is the gateway of USU Kwala Bekala area so the concept of "building as a gate" is forming the building mass. The site forms two separate parts due to its area which surrounded by the main road and separated by other collector roads. The goals of this project are how to design a campus environment that cares for the surrounding environment, can provide comfort to its users, and can create sustainable buildings. After analyzing and implementing the concept of green architecture, the final design concept are two building masses connected with sky bridge which can accommodate 723 seats, windows and inner court to allow the airflow and natural light enters the rooms, secondary skin and vines as its facade to buffer over sunshine and noises, water and trash recycling treatment to reduce clean water use, and solar panel as additional electricity energy.

Abstract:Classics of Polish Design. Polish avant-garde Bauhaus style furniture from the interwar period presents a review of the best Polish furniture designs from the 1920s and 1930s. In spite of the inspirations with historicism popular in the interwar period and the references to folk culture (e.g., the "Ład" Artists' Cooperative), Polish designers also drew inspiration from the works of the following artists: Le Corbusier, Marcel Breuer, Mies van der Rohe and Mart Stam, who designed avant-garde furniture made of metal pipes. The paper presents little known works of Polish artists from the groups "Praesens", "Atelier wnętrz i architektury" (The Atelier of Interiors and Architecture), "Studium wnętrz i sprzętu" (Studio of Interiors and Equipment), as well as furniture designs referring to the Bauhaus style for private and public interiors (including designs for transatlantics or the President's Castle in Wisła), among others, manufactured by the Thonet-Mundus company. The paper continues the series devoted to the "Classics of Polish Design", presenting the results of research on Polish furniture, carried out within the framework of dissertations in the Department of Wood Technology in the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW).

Abstract:The utterly new campus landscape of Shenyang Architectural University was designed with rice and native crops and plants. By doing this, the campus became a unique environment for the students to learn not only from the book, but from the nature and agriculture. Materials and trees from the old campus were reused in this new campus. The natural and agricultural processes and the process of history become part of the studying of the students.
