Clinical Study of Two Surgical Approaches in Deviated Nose

Abstract:Objective To compare two surgical approaches applied in the plastic surgery of deviated nose and to discuss the indications of the two surgical approaches and the application of external approach.Methods Fifty-eight patients suffering from nasal septal deviation (NSD) with cartilaginous vault deformity were chosen.Plastic surgery was performed via external approach in thirty-seven cases and via endonasal approach in twenty-one.Results Twenty-two cases were cured and thirty-one were effective with external approach;four cases were cured and nine were effective with endonasal approach.The difference of curative effect between the two approaches was statistically significant(P0.01).Conclusion It is important to choose the surgical approach based on deviation area of the nasal septum.The surgical via external approach is indicated in the framework deformity of nasal seputm.
