Abstract:Based on the radio determination satellite service system,we analyze and discuss the construction of the GEO & MEO satellites passive positioning system.In this paper,we introduce the structure of this passive positioning system,and give the positioning model and make the analysis of the positioning error.Through our simulative program,we give the simulative results of the proposed positioning system.The simulative results prove that it is feasible to construct the region enhanced Global Navigation Satellite System in China.

Abstract:China has begun to consider the plan of establishing its public satellite mobile network (PSMN) due to the national demands. As the result of one earlier research sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, a network architecture of the satellite mobile service system, which is compatible to 3GPP/UMTS R4 and bases on appropriate GEO satellite on-board processor modeling, is proposed in this paper, with several new defined functional entities, interfaces, and protocols. The proposed network architecture could act as a basis of further design of the China's PSMN system.

Abstract:The recent development of the low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation construction has accelerated the research on applications associated with LEO satellites. One such typical application is to transmit high-resolution remote-sensing images from LEO satellites to ground stations (GS). However, the stringent visible time and the complicated antenna manipulation between LEO satellites and GS makes it challenging for a LEO satellite to complete its full transmission mission within a specified stringent deadline. As such, this paper introduces a geosynchronous equatorial orbit (GEO) satellite as a relay and explores the distributed coding-decoding schemes to assist reliable and high-speed transmission. Specifically, four types of GEO-satellite-relay coded schemes are proposed and analyzed, including three PHY-only coding systems with GEO-full-decoding on board, decoding on ground only, and GEO-partial-decoding on board and one layered coding system. Through simulations, the comparative insights among the four schemes are provided from three dimensions: effectiveness, reliability, and relay complexity. The trade-offs concerning the four schemes in terms of the three indexes are also revealed.

Abstract:In recent years,research of LEO mobile satellite communication systems is a hot point and its mobile management strategy plays an important role system's performance.This paper introduced some forerunner strategies domestic and abroad in both location management and handover management,emphasized two advance strategies improve performance of the system.One solves the problem of MT(Mobile Terminal) covered by more than one satellite simultaneously in LEO satellite network much better than other ways currently that considers both the elevation angle factor and the time during which the MT remains covered by the same satellite.The other is named minimal-hops handover strategy that combines the handover procedure with routing and solves the inter-satellite handover issue efficiently.

Abstract:The integration of space, aerial and terrestrial access is an important feature of the future 6G network, and it is also one of the development trends of the current mobile network. In particular, Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite has the advantages of high bandwidth, low delay and wide coverage, which can be a powerful supplement to the current mobile access method. However, the ultra-high mobility of LEO satellite brings severe challenges to the mobility management of legacy mobile networks. This paper first introduces the mobile network architecture supporting satellite access, then presents the main mobility management methods in the current IP network, and analyzes the pros and cons of various methods respectively. Then, we makes a comprehensive analysis on the mobility management methods of 5G mobile network, and puts forward the optimization idea of mobility management of satellite access, After that, we analyzes the two mobility schemes of satellite access proposed by 3GPP in SAT_ARCH project. Finally, the future research direction of mobility management of subsequent satellite access mobile network are discussed.

Abstract:With the rapid development of satellite mobile communication, building a satellite/terrestrial integrated network is the inevitable trend of satellite communication. Based on the network of backbone and access, a global coverage of GEO/LEO hybrid satellite constellations are designed. As the backbone network, GEO constellation realize relay and management. As the access network, LEO constellation realize the communication with the terrestrial users. A new static routing strategy based on virtual topology is proposed, which provides significant advantages of low complexity, high efficiency and low routing overhead. The satellite networks can provide the features of flexible structure, easy management, efficient transferring, and potential in scalability.

Abstract:Regional mobile satellite communication systems are very important for developing countries, especially for China which lacks basic communication methods in her large rural areas. Adopting Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) constellation is an effective way to remedy this situation. A time-dependent constellation for the regional mobile satellite communication systems is proposed in this paper. The constellation can provide excellent coverage performance for a specific territory, and the system service provided by the constellation can be either time-limited or non-time-limited. The constellation schemes (time-limited and non-time-limited) of the economical mobile satellite communication system designed for China with this method are proposed and they would also provide an excellent service for the rest of the world. © 1999 Lister Science.

Abstract:A novel on-board switching and processing scheme by using the characteristics of GEO satellite mobile communication system is introduced.The performance analysis and the numerical calculation results of different configuration modes for this scheme are presented.The results show that only a small scale of on-board processing(OBP) resource is needed to meet one-hop voice communication requirement with high probability.Compared with the full on-board processing scheme,complexity is greatly reduced in this scheme.Moreover this scheme can be applied in different communication systems and achieve much better performance than bent-pipe mode.

Abstract:With the development of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), the amount of related research is growing rapidly in China. A lot of accomplishments have been achieved in all branches of the satellite navigation field, especially motivated by the BeiDou Program. In this paper, the current status, technologies and developments in satellite positioning and navigation in China are introduced. Firstly, an overview and update of the BeiDou Program is presented, known as the three-step development strategy for different services. Then signal design for the BeiDou system is discussed, including the generation of pseudo-random noise (PRN) codes for currently available signal B1, and the investigation of a new signal modulation scheme for interoperability at open frequency B1C. The B1C signal should comply to Multiplexed Binary Offset Carrier (MBOC) constrains, and a modulation called Quadrature Multiplexed BOC (QMBOC) is presented, which is equivalent to time-multiplexed BOC (TMBOC) for GPS and composite BOC (CBOC) for Galileo, while overcomes the drawback of CBOC. Besides, the inter and intra system compatibility is discussed, based on the effective C/N-0 proposed by International Telecommunication Union (ITU). After that, receiver technologies in challenging environments are introduced, such as weak signal acquisition and assisted GNSS (A-GNSS). Moreover, a method of ambiguity mitigation for adaptive digital beam forming (ADBF) in large spacing antenna arrays is proposed, by which interference suppression is available. Furthermore, cutting edge technologies are brought in, including seamless navigation for indoor and outdoor, and collaborative navigation. After all, GNSS applications in China for industry and daily life are shown, as well as the market prospection.

Abstract:Analsisand outlook for satellite communication access and mobility management technology in 6G network was presented.Firstly, the access technology of current global representative satellite mobile communications system was introduced, as well as the international standardization organization research status of 5G NR satellite access technology.According to the challenges for 6G satellite communications network access, some solutions regarding to 6G satellite communications access were proposed respectively from the aspects of extremely simple access, extremely intelligent access.Furthermore, according to the demand of massive terminals handoff in the high dynamic scenario of 6G satellite communications, the flexible handoff scheme based on cloud channel technology, which supported batch massive terminals mobility management for across satellites and beams, was proposed.

Abstract:The Group on Earth Observations(GEO)is the largest and most influential intergovernmental organization in the field of Earth observation.China is one of the founding members of GEO and has served as a co-chair for representing developing countries and the Asia-Pacific region since GEO's establishment in 2005.This paper offers an in-depth analysis of GEO's evolution and practices of the GEO over the past eighteen years.It discusses China's related achievements at three levels:domestic,Asia-Pacific,and international.Furthermore,with a focus on governance mechanisms,project cooperation,public goods,and talent cultivation,the paper outlines China's future engagement in global governance within GEO,aiming to accelerate integration into the global innovation network and collaborate in building a global community of science and technology.

Abstract:Channel prediction is the premise for the application of adaptive transmission in mobile satellite communications with long propagation delay. Particularly, in GEO mobile satellite communication systems, the satellite channel correlation characteristics are analyzed for the mobile terminals at different positions and along different directions, and the predictability of the satellite channel is discussed associated with the channel correlation results. The foundation for the application of adaptive transmission in GEO mobile satellite communications is established accordingly.

Abstract:Mobile communication standards have been developed into a new era of B5G and 6G. In recent years, low earth orbit (LEO) satellites and space Internet have become hot topics. The integrated satellite and terrestrial systems have been widely discussed by industries and academics, and even are expected to be applied in those huge constellations in construction. This paper points out the trends of two stages towards system integration of the terrestrial mobile communication and the satellite communications: to be compatible with 5G, and to be integrated within 6G. Based on analysis of the challenges of both stages, key technologies are thereafter analyzed in detail, covering both air interface currently discussed in 3GPP for B5G and also novel network architecture and related transmission technologies toward future 6G.

Abstract:The geostationary orbit (GEO) belt hosts a substantial number of high-value satellites, making the study of autonomous navigation within this area significant. Features of autonomous operations such as patrolling the GEO belt and frequent manoeuvres at a certain location make real-time positioning using the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) valuable. This paper studies the performance of positioning with GNSS considering main lobe and side lobe signals at different longitudes in the GEO belt. The research delves into the visibility and Position Dilution of Precision (PDOP) across the GEO belt, analysing the performance of the Global Positioning System (GPS), GLObalnaya NAvigatsionnaya Sputnikovaya Sistema (GLONASS) in Russian, BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS), Galileo Navigation Satellite System (Galileo) and multi-systems. In particular, this paper investigates the impact of asymmetric constellations of mixed GEO, Inclined Geosynchronous Orbit (IGSO) and Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) satellites. The study reveals that BDS hybrid constellation provides long-term stable signal coverage over the GEO space above North America and Atlantic Ocean, where GEO signals are more sustainable while IGSO signals have wider coverage. This advantage positions BDS favourably in terms of performance in these regions.
