Abstract:Objective To compare contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS)and contrast-enhaneed computed tomography(CECT)on the diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma(RCC). Methods CEUS and CECT were performed on 117 patients(87 men and 30 women)with 124 renal lesions(single nodule in 110 and two nodules in 7)from 2004 to 2008.Among them,there were 63 patients with 65 lesions diagnosed as RCC confirmed by pathology.The tumor enhancement pattern,extent,and dynamic change of CEUS and CECT were compared.The diagnostic efficacy of CEUS and the agreement of CECT and CEUS in diagnosing RCC were analyzed. Results The rate of displaying hypervascular performance on cortical phase,and pseudocapsule enhancement of the RCC lesions by CEUS and CECT were 87.7%(57/65)and 63.1%(41/65),89.2%(58/65)and 69.2%(45/65)(P<0.05).The rate of displaying heterogeneous enhancement were 72.3%(47/65)and 56.9%(37/65)(P>0.05)Using the diagnosis of CECT as reference diagnostic criteria,the sensitivity,specificity,positive predietive value,negative predictive value,and accuracy of CEUS in diagnosing RCC were 89.1%(57/64),91.7%(55/60),91.9%(57/62),88.7%(55/62)and 90.3%(112/124).The agreement of CECT and CEUS in diagnosing RCC was high(κ=0.806). Conclusions CEUS and CECT have the coordinate efficacy in diagnosing RCC.

Abstract:Objective:To explore and compare the value of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography and contrast-enhanced computed-tomography in the diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma.Methods:We performed CEUS,CECT examination on 56,53 patients with renal neoplasms respectively. The blood perfusion condition of the masses and surronding normal renal parenchyma in a continuous and dynamic way were observed and the enhancement appearnce and patterns of neoplasms in cortical, parenchymal and delayed phase of CEUS were compared with that of CECT.Results:The majority of RCC showed moderate enhancement in cortical phase, slight enhancement in parenchymal, delayed phase,only a small part showed slight enhancement in three phases. Correct diagnoses were obtained in 42 malignant and 7 benign masses by CEUS, while 38 malignant and 6 benign masses by CECT. There were only 4 malignant and 3 benign cases were misdiagnosed by CEUS while 5 malignant and 6 benign masses by CECT. The diagnostic performance of CEUS and CECT in characterrization of renal tumors were as follows: sensitivity 91.3%/88.4%, positive predictive value 91.3%/88.4%, diagnostic accuracy 87.5%/81.1%.Conclusions:CEUS can display the blood supply feature of renal neoplasms sensitively as CECT and play a complementary role in the diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma.
Comparative Study on Ultrasonic Imaging and Enhanced CT in Differential Diagnosis of Renal Tumor

Abstract:Objective: To study and compare the value of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography(CEUS) and enhanced CT(CECT) in differential diagnosis of renal tumors.Methods: 93 cases of renal tumor were given CEUS and CECT examination,and the diagnosis was compared with pathology results.The sensitivity,specificity and accuracy of the two diagnostic methods were compared.Results: The specificity of the two diagnostic methods had no significant difference,P>0.05;while the sensitivity and accuracy rate of CEUS diagnosis to the renal malignant tumor were significantly better than that of CECT,P<0.05.Conclusion: CEUS has some advantages in sensitivity and accuracy in the differential diagnosis of renal parenchymal tumors than the CECT.Combination of the two methods can achieve complementary advantages,so that can enhance the value of differential diagnosis of renal tumors.

Abstract:Objective To evaluate diagnostic value of helical CT in small renal cell carcinoma(RCC).Methods Helical CT findings(including plain CT and contrast-enhanced CT scan:cortical,parenchymal and renal pelvis phase) of 49 patients with small RCC were analyzed and compared with ultrasound findings.Results 53 lesions in 49 cases were found,of them,47 were solid,35 showed marked enhancement in cortical phase,in another 12 RCCs,the enhancement was slight to medial.Six were cystic RCCs,the cystic wall,nodules and septation inside the cysts were obviously enhanced in cortical phase.The enhancement in the parenchymal phase and pyelographic phase was regression quickly.The detected sensitivity was 100% and diagnostic accuracy was 91% by CT,while were 96.3% and 38.6% by ultrasound,respectively.Conclusion Multi-phase helical CT scan can obviously improve diagnostic accuracy of small RCC,and multi-phase helical CT scan is superior to the ultrasound in the diagnosis of small RCC.

Abstract:Objective To compare and analyze the similarities and differences of the blood perfusion characteristics of the renal pelvic carcinoma displayed by contrast-enhanced ultrasonography(CEUS) and contrast-enhanced computed tomography(CECT).Methods The characteristics of CEUS and CECT were anzlyzed retrospectively in 40 confirmed renal pelvic carcinoma cases by operation and pathology.The modality and phases of enhancement,including wash-in and washout time,as well as the perfusion appearances,were observed by CEUS and CECT.Results CEUS detected the cortical phase enhancement in all renal pelvic tumors,including synchronously enhancement in 14 tumors and delayed enhancement in 26 tumors.At peak times,hypoechogenicity compared to the normal renal cortex was shown in 31 tumors,hyperechogenicity in 4 tumors and isoechogenicity in 5 tumors.Fast wash-out in medulla phase was displayed in 35 tumors,isochronously wash-out in 2 tumors and delayed wash-out in 3 tumors.The minimum diameter in 40 renal pelvic tumors was 1.5 cm.CECT showed the enhancement in 38 tumors,mostly mild to moderate homogeneous enhancement,and enhancement was lower than the surrounding renal parenchyma.The diagnostic accuracy of CEUS was 77.5％ (31/40),and the diagnostic accuracy of CECT was 82.5 ％ (33/40).The difference was not statistically significant between CEUS and CECT ( P ＞0.05).Conclusions CEUS and CECT have higher diagnostic accuracy of the renal pelvic carcinoma,so the joint detection can increase the detection rate of early diagnosis of the renal pelvic carcinoma.
Role of Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound in Evaluating the Efficiency of Ultrasound Guided Percutaneous Microwave Ablation in Patients with Renal Cell Carcinoma

Abstract:Background. The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficiency and feasibility of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) with Sonovue in assessing of renal cell carcinomas (RCCs) following ultrasound (US)-guided percutaneous microwave ablation (MWA).Patinets and methods. Seventy-nine patients (60 males and 19 females) with 83 lesions (mean size 3.2 +/- 1.6 cm) were treated by US-guided percutaneous MWA. The CEUS results of the third day after the ablation were compared with the synchronous contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT)/magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) results and biopsy pathological results. The follow-up was performed by CEUS and CT/MRI after 1, 3, 6 months and every 6 months subsequently. The combination of clinical follow-up results and CT/MRI imaging findings was the reference standard of CEUS results for evaluating the therapeutic effect. The identification of residual or recurrence tumour was assessed by two blinded radiologists.Results. On the third day after MWA, CEUS showed 68 of 83 lesions (68/83, 81.9%) successfully ablated and 15 of 83 (18.1%) with residual tumours. Among residual tumours, 13 (86.7%) were confirmed by contrast-enhanced CT/MRI findings and biopsy results. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive and negative predictive value of CEUS evaluating the short-term MWA effectiveness were 100%, 97.1%, 97.6%, 86.7% and 100%, respectively. During the six years follow-up (median 26 months), the CEUS showed recurrence in 7 patients, and six of them achieved consistent results on CEUS and CT/MRI imaging. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive and negative predictive value for CEUS evaluating long-term MWA effectiveness were 85.7%, 98.7%, 97.6%, 85.7% and 98.7%, respectively.Conclusions. The post-procedural CEUS demonstrated as an effective and feasible method in evaluating a therapeutic effect of RCCs following MWA.
Comparison Of Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasonography And Contrast-Enhanced Computed Tomography In The Diagnosis Of Cystic Renal Cell Carcinoma

Abstract:Objective: To analyze the imaging features of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) on the cystic renal cell carcinoma (CRCC), and to assess the application value and clinical significance of CEUS in evaluating CRCC compared with conventional ultrasonography (US) and contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT). Methods: From April 2013 and July 2016, Thirty-two patients with 32 cystic lesions including 26 cases of CRCC and 6 cases of renal cysts who had undergone CEUS were retrospectively studied. All of the lesions were histopathologically proved. Evaluate diagnostic value of the conventional ultrasonography (US), CEUS and contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) for CRCC. The conventional US was mainly used to observe the position, size, shape, border, echogenicity and blood supply of tumor. The CEUS mainly observes the enhancement performance of wall, septa and solid component of cystic lesions. The parameters include enhancement patterns, enhancement degree and pseudocapsule. The imaging findings and histopathological results were contrasted for statistically comparing capability of diagnosis on CRCC. Results: Among these 32 cystic lesions, 14 multilocular cystic renal cell carcinomas, 12 clear cell carcinomas and 6 renal cysts were confirmed through postoperative histopathologically. The accuracy rate, visualization rate of blood flow and visualization rate of pseudocapsule display rate of CRCC by the conventional US and CEUS are 62.3% (20/32), 31.2% (10/32), 12.5% (4/32) and 90.6% (29/32), 93.7% (30/32), 71.8% (23/32), respectively. CEUS can effectively reflect the blood supply of the lesions compared with the conventional US, so has higher diagnostic accuracy. The differences between them were statistically significant (P<0.01). By Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve analysis, this CECT (Area under the Curve (AUC)=0.776, P=0.038) and CECT (AUC=0.878, P=0.004), but not US (AUC=0.577, P=0.562) signature showed high accuracy in discriminating malignant from benign cystic lesions. The difference in diagnosis on CRCC by CEUS and CECT has no statistic significance (P>0.05). Conclusion: The CEUS can sensitively and effectively show the blood supply situation within CRCC. It is helpful to the diagnosis of CRCC, and has a certain clinical value. The Contrast-enhanced ultrasonography may play a similar role to contrast-enhanced computed tomography in the diagnosis of cystic renel cell carcinoma.

Abstract:Objective:Compared contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS) with contrast-enhanced CT(CECT) in diagnosis of renal lesions,this study was to evaluate the diagnostic value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound in renal lesions.Methods:A total of 54 patients underwent CEUS and CECT respectively.The diagnostic efficiency of two techniques were compared by evaluating features of different phase.Results:Of 54 renal lesions,34 lesions were malignant and 20 were benign.Overall,the diagnostic sensitivity,specificity,diagnostic accuracy,positive predictive value and negative predictive value were 97.05%,85.0%,92.59%,91.67%,94.44% for CEUS and 91.18%,80.00%,87.04%,88.57%,84.21% for CECT respectively.It was no significant statistical difference between two means(P0.05).Conclusion:There is no statistical difference in the diagnostic efficiency and the accuracy between CEUS and CECT in diagnosis of renal lesions.However,CEUS is better than CECT in diagnosis of abnormal renal structure and the microcirculation perfusion.The quantitative evaluation of renal tumor blood vessels by CEUS is still in animal experiments,the clinical stages of specific indexes remain for further research.
Comparative Study of Cystic Renal Cell Carcinoma by Ultrasonography and CT

Abstract:Objective To study the features and values of ultrasound and Helical computed tomography (CT) in diagnosis of cystic renal cell carcinoma. Methods Twenty patients were preoperatively examined by B-mode ultrasound, color Doppler ultrasound and helical CT. Results All the cases were confirmed by operation and pathology,including 12 cases on the left side and 8 cases on the right side. On B-mode ultrasound images, all lesions appeared as unilocular or multilocular cyst in 5 cases, intratumoral septum in 10 cases,intratumoral nodule in 4 cases,solid-like mass in 1 case. Color blood flow was showed within tumors in 18 patients,in which 17 cases showed the arterial spectrum with a mean resistance index of 0.66. On enhanced CT scans, all the lesions appeared as the early uneven enhancement(19 cases), septal enhancement(6 cases) and mural nodular enhancement(4 cases) respectively. The accuracy of conventional ultrasound combined with color Doppler ultrasound was 85%, while the accuracy of the enhanced CT was 80%.Conclusions Conventional ultrasound combined with color Doppler ultrasound and enhanced CT plays an important role in diagnosis of cystic renal cell carcinoma.

Abstract:This study aims to compare the value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) and contrast-enhanced CT (CECT) in the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant renal masses. Included in this retrospective study were 143 renal masses in 141 patients using histopathological findings as the gold standard. A comparison was made of the two modalities in image characteristics for their accuracy in the differential diagnosis of renal masses. CEUS and CECT were both used for 39 masses in 37 patients, with 31 (79.5%) being malignant and 8 (20.5%) benign. The differences between the benign and malignant groups in perfusion intensity, perfusion uniformity and entry and exit of the contrast agent were not statistically significant (P > 0.05). However, CEUS could better display the circular perfusion of renal cell carcinoma than CECT (P < 0.05). CECT alone detected 109 masses in 107 patients, with 93 (85.3%) being malignant and 16 (14.7%) benign. CEUS detected 73 masses in 71 patients, with 56 (76.7%) being malignant and 17 (23.3%) benign. No statistically significant differences were observed between CEUS and CECT in the diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma (92.8% vs. 90.3%), with a specificity of 52.9% vs. 31.2%, an accuracy of 83.5% vs. 81.6%, and a positive predictive value of 86.7% vs. 88.4% or a negative predictive value of 69.2% vs. 35.7% (P > 0.05 for all). These results suggested both CEUS and CECT are highly valuable in the differential diagnosis of renal masses, and CEUS can be used as an important supplement for CECT in diagnosis of renal cancer.
Efficacy of Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound-Guided Percutaneous Microwave Ablation Treatment of Renal Carcinomas

Abstract:ObjectiveTo assess the safety and efficacy of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS)-guided percutaneous microwave ablation (MWA) treatment of renal carcinomas.MethodsFifteen patients with 17 renal tumors were retrospectively analyze. The patients’ ages were in the range of 46-80 years (65.2±9.4 years), the tumor diameters were in the range of 1.1-3.9 cm (2.3±0.7 cm) and biopsy pathological results were renal cell carcinoma. All of the tumors were inconspicuous on conventional ultrasound, while conspicuous on contrast enhanced-computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Seventeen tumors were ablated under the guidance of CEUS.ResultsAll tumors were successfully visualized on CEUS and MWA was performed under CEUS guidance. The durations of energy application for each tumor were in the range of 5-11 min (mean± SD 7.3±2.2 min). The mean session of CEUS-guided MWA for each tumor was 1.1±0.3. All patients were followed up for 3-49 months (median, 17 months) to observe the therapeutic effects and complications. There was no local tumor progress and major complication. ConclusionCEUS-guided PMWA is a safety, efficient and feasible therapy for patients with RCC which is inconspicuous on conventional US.

Abstract:Objective To compare the value of CEUS and contrast-enhanced computed tomography(CECT) in diagnosis of small renal cell carcinoma(SRCC).Methods Totally 132 patients with small renal tumors were examinated using CEUS and CECT respectively.Taking operation and pathology results as golden standards,the diagnostic value of SRCC with the two methods was compared.Results There were 119 patients with SRCC,including 95 clear cell carcinoma,9 chromophobic cell renal carcinoma,13 papillary cell carcinoma and 2 cystic renal cell carcinoma cases.Hamartoma was detected in 13 patients.Most of SRCC had rich blood supply,and pseudocapsule was found in 91 cases(91/119,76.47%) by CEUS.Time-intensity curve showed the arrival time and the time to peak of SRCC were lower than those of the renal cortex(P<0.05),and peak intensity was higher than that of the surrounding renal cortex(P<0.05).Correct diagnosis was obtained in 114 cases with SRCC and 6 cases with hamartoma using CEUS,while 102 SRCC and 6 hamartoma using CECT.CEUS misdiagnosed 5 cases of SRCC and 7 cases of hamartoma,while CECT misdiagnosed 13 cases of SRCC and 7 cases of hamartoma,and missed 4 cases of SRCC.No statistical difference was found between CEUS and CECT in differentiating of SRCC(χ2=2.74,P>0.05).Conclusion CEUS and CECT complement each other in the diagnosis of SRCC.Through analyzing perfusion characteristics of SRCC quantitatively with TIC,CEUS can diagnose SRCC accurately and objectively.
Percutaneous microwave ablation for renal cell carcinoma：evaluation of therapeutic effect with contrast-enhanced ultrasound

Abstract:Objective To evaluate low-mechanical-index contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in assessing the clinical efficacy and feasibility of percutaneous microwave ablation (MWA) for the treatment of renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Methods From March 2006 to July 2013, a total of 105 RCC patients with 109 lesions, mean size being (3.1 ± 1.3) cm, were treated with ultrasound-guided percutaneous MWA. CEUS results obtained on the third day after MWA were compared with the contrast-enhanced CT/MRI and biopsy findings in the corresponding period. Follow-up examinations with CEUS and CT/MRI were carried out 1, 3 and 6 months after the treatment and once every 6 months thereafter to evaluate the short-term and the long-term therapeutic effectiveness. Results Three days after MWA, CEUS showed that 94 of 109 lesions (86.2%) were completely ablated, and residual tumor tissue was seen in 15 of 109 lesions (13.8%). Among the 15 lesions with residual tumor tissue, 13 (86.7%) were proved by contrast-enhanced CT/MRI and/or biopsy performed in the corresponding period. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV) of CEUS for the evaluation of the short-term MWA effectiveness were 100%, 97.9%, 98.2%, 86.7% and 100%, respectively. Patients were followed up for 3 - 90 months with a median period of 24.6 months. During the follow - up period, CEUS detected recurrence in 7 patients, and 6 of them were consistent with CT/MRI results. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive and negative predictive value of CEUS for the evaluation of the long-term MWA effectiveness were 85.7%, 99.0%, 98.2%, 85.7% and 99.0%, respectively. Conclusion For the evaluation of the effectiveness of percutaneous microwave ablation in treating renal cell carcinoma, CEUS is a sensitive, reliable and convenient technique.

Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound in differential diagnosis of renal occupied lesions. Methods: Thirty-one renal occupied lesions underwent conventional and contrast -enhanced ultrasound examinations with a bolus injection of SonoVue. The perfusion characteristic of ultrasound contrast agent was assessed and the results were compared with that of pathology. Results: The renal occupied lesions included 17 malignant lesions and 14 benign lesions. Enhancement patterns of contrast-enhanced ultrasound were showed in 11 malignant renal lesions characterized by fast wash- ing-in and fast washing-out. The perfusion characteristic of benign renal lesions was slow (or simultaneously) washing-out. There were no perfusions of contrast agent during the whole procedure in the 3 cases of renal atypical cyst. Conclusion: The contrast-enhanced ultrasound is valuable in differenting benign and malignant renal occupied lesions.
Diagnostic Performance of Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound in Renal Cancer: A Meta-Analysis

Abstract:Background Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) is an examination mode for detecting blood vessels in tissues, and it has been gradually used in the diagnosis of kidney cancer in recent years. This study explores the value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound in the clinical diagnosis of renal cancer, and provides an accurate and effective method for clinical diagnosis of renal cancer. Methods CEUS and RCC were selected as the keywords. Searching the PubMed and Embase from 2007 to 2020, the original data were abstracted and performed heterogeneity test with the Meta-Disc software. The weighted sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio and negative likelihood ratio were calculated, as well as the summary receiver operating characteristic (SROC) curve. Further estimated the diagnostic value of CEUS in the research of renal cancer by calculating the area under the curve (AUC). The quality of evidence in researches was evaluated by QUADAS items. Meta-disc, Review Manager 5.3, and STATA 13 were used. Results A total of 20 studies were adopted for Meta-analysis. The weighted sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio, negative likelihood ratio, and diagnostic odds ratio were 0.97, 0.86, 6.8, 0.04 and 171, respectively; and AUC was 0.97. The results showed that there was high heterogeneity. Conclusion CEUS technology has a good diagnostic value for RCC.
The application of dynamic enhanced spiral CT in the diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the signs of renal cell carcinoma(RCC), and improve the imaging diagnosis of renal malignant neoplasm with multi-phase dynamic enhancement CT scanning.Materials and Methods:The multi-phase contrast enhanced helical CT scan data of 72 patients with surgical-pathologically proved renal malignant neoplasm were analyzed retrospectively.Fifty-seven cases of RCC, confirmed by pathological techniques, according to WHO classification, these included 38 clear cell carcinomas, 10 papillary, 8 chromophobe and 1 spindle cell RCC, were analyzed.Enhancement degrees and pat-terns in unenhanced, corticomedullary, nephrographic phase and excretory phase were compared.Results:CT attenuation on unenhanced scan was not statistically different.CT attenuation of clear cell carcinoma was higher than that of papillary and chromophobe RCC in corticomedullary, nephrographic and excretory phase(P value is 0.01, 0.01 and 0.03 respectively), while that of papillary and chromophobe RCC was not statistically different in all three phases.Homogeneous and heterogeneous enhancement was most commonly seen in chromophobe RCC and clear cell carcinoma.Conclusion:Dynamic enhanced CT scan was effective for differentiating clear cell carcinoma from non-clear cell carcinoma, and was useful in differentiating RCC.It could be used in formulating therapeutic plan preoperatively.
The Value of Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound and Contrast-Enhanced Computed-Tomography in Diagnosis of Renal Cell Carcinoma Subtyping

Abstract:Objective To explore the value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS) and contrast-enhanced computed-tomography(CECT) in diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma. Methods Sixty hundred and seventy-two patients with renal cell carcinoma were confirmed by pathology and surgery, including 562 cases of clear cell carcinoma,68 cases of papillary cell carcinoma and 42 cases of chromophobe cell carcinoma. CEUS was performed and the time - intensity curve of CEUS was analyzed, then CECT was performed on the patients.Results By CEUS, 537 cases of clear cell carcinoma showed hypervascular imaging performance,time - intensity curve showed the arrival time and the time to peak were lower than those of renal cortex (P0.05), slop of the risig curve, difference of peak intensity and area under the curve were higher than those of surrounding renal cortex (P0.05), 25 cases showed a lack of blood supply performance.While chromophobe cell carcinoma showed poor blood supply compared with the renal cortex,the difference of peak intensity and area under the curve were lower than those of renal cortex (P0.05), papillary renal cell carcinoma showed poor blood supply compared with the renal cortex,time to peak was higher than that of surrounding renal cortex (P0.05),difference of peak intensity was lower than that of renal cortex (P0.05). By CECT, 512 cases of clear cell carcinoma tumor showed obvious heterogeneous enhancement during cortical phase.The enhancement was higher than the renal cortex; Chromophobic cell renal carcinoma showed enhancement in the whole scanning process,but the enhancement was lower than the cortex; papillary cell carcinoma showed mild-moderate homogeneous enhancement in the solid part of the tumors, in 54 cases, the degree of enhancement was equivalent to or slightly stronger than the renal cortex during in the corticomedullary phase. Conclusion CEUS and CECT all play important roles in diagnosis and typing of renal cell carcinoma.

Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) and contrast-enhanced CT (CECT) in diagnosis of benign and malignant renal parenchyma lesions. Methods: A total of 60 patients underwent CEUS and CECT respectively. The diagnostic efficiency of two techniques were compared by evaluating the perfusion features of different phase. Results: Among 61 renal lesions in 60 patients, 39 lesions were malignant and 22 were benign. Overall diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, diagnostic accuracy was 97.44%, 90.91%, 95.08% for CEUS and 89.74%, 81.82%, 86.89% for CECT, respectively. Positive predictive value and negative predictive value of CEUS and CECT in diagnosis of renal malignant tumor was 95.00%, 95.24% and 89.74%, 81.82%, respectively. Conclusion: There is no statistical difference in the sensitivity and the accuracy between CEUS and CECT in diagnosis of benign and malignant renal parenchyma lesions. However, CEUS is better than CECT in diagnosis of abnormal renal parenchyma structure and the microcirculation perfusion.

Abstract:Background Renal clear cell carcinoma (RCCC) is the most common malignant renal tumor. It is highly malignant,does not cause clinical symptoms in its eady stages, and cannot be diagnosed using conventional ultrasound. This study was aimed to investigate the contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) mode and characteristics of the time-intensity curve for RCCC and its pathological basis.Methods Forty-two patients with pathologically diagnosed RCCC underwent CEUS examination before surgery. The patients' kidneys were visualized after injection of contrast agents using the Technos MPX DU8. We analyzed the CEUS mode, time-intensity curve, and pathological findings.Results The detection rate of RCCC with conventional ultrasound was about 71%, while the rate using CEUS was 100%.
