Abstract:Asymptotic boundary KZB equations describe the consistency conditions of degenerations of correlation functions for boundary Wess-Zumino-Witten-Novikov conformal field theory on a cylinder. In the first part of the paper we define asymptotic boundary KZB operators for connected real semisimple Lie groups G with finite center. We prove their main properties algebraically using coordinate versions of Harish-Chandra’s radial component map. We show that their commutativity is governed by a system of equations involving coupled versions of classical dynamical Yang-Baxter equations and reflection equations. We use the coordinate radial components maps to introduce a new class of quantum superintegrable systems, called quantum Calogero-Moser spin chains. A quantum CalogeroMoser spin chain is a mixture of a quantum spin Calogero-Moser system associated to the restricted root system of G and an one-dimensional spin chain with two-sided reflecting boundaries. The asymptotic boundary KZB operators provide explicit expressions for its first order quantum Hamiltonians. We also explicitly describe the Schrödinger operator.

Abstract:We study the relationship between integrable Landau-Zener (LZ) models and Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov (KZ) equations. The latter are originally equations for the correlation functions of two-dimensional conformal field theories, but can also be interpreted as multi-time Schrödinger equations. The general LZ problem is to find the probabilities of tunneling from eigenstates at $t=t_\text{in}$ to the eigenstates at $t\to+\infty$ for an $N\times N$ time-dependent Hamiltonian $\hat H(t)$. A number of such problems are exactly solvable in the sense that the tunneling probabilities are elementary functions of Hamiltonian parameters and time-dependent wavefunctions are special functions. It has recently been proposed that exactly solvable LZ models map to KZ equations. Here we use this connection to identify and solve various integrable hyperbolic LZ models $\hat H(t)=\hat A+\hat B/t$ for $N=2, 3$, and $4$, where $\hat A$ and $\hat B$ are time-independent matrices. Some of these models have been considered, though not fully solved, before and others are entirely new.

Finding all solutions to the KZ equations in characteristic $p$

Abstract:The KZ equations are differential equations satisfied by the correlation functions (on the Riemann sphere) of two-dimensional conformal field theories associated with an affine Lie algebra at a fixed level. They form a system of complex partial differential equations with regular singular points satisfied by the $n$-point functions of affine primary fields. In [SV1] the KZ equations were identified with equations for flat sections of suitable Gauss-Manin connections, and solutions of the KZ equations were constructed in the form of multidimensional hypergeometric integrals. In [SV2] the KZ equations were considered modulo a prime number $p$, and, for rational levels, polynomial solutions of the KZ equations modulo $p$ were constructed by an elementary procedure as suitable $p$-approximations of the hypergeometric integrals. In this paper we study in detail the first nontrivial example of the KZ equations in characteristic $p$. In particular, if the level is irrational, we prove a version of the steepest descent result that relates the KZ local system to the space of functions on the critical locus of the master function. We use this result to prove the generic irreducibility of the KZ local system at any irrational level. If the level is rational, we describe all solutions of the KZ equations in characteristic $p$ by demonstrating that they all stem from the $p$-hypergeometric solutions. Finally, we prove a Lagrangian property of the subbundle of the KZ bundle spanned by the $p$-hypergeometric sections.

Abstract:We construct integral representations of solutions to the boundary quantum Knizhnik–Zamolodchikov equations. These are difference equations taking values in tensor products of Verma modules of quantum affine sl2, with the K-operators acting diagonally. The integrands in question are products of scalar-valued elliptic weight functions with vector-valued trigonometric weight functions (boundary Bethe vectors). These integrals give rise to a basis of solutions of the boundary qKZ equations over the field of quasi-constant meromorphic functions in weight subspaces of the tensor product.

Abstract:We define a system of "dynamical" differential equations compatible with the KZ differential equations. The KZ differential equations are associated to a complex simple Lie algebra $\mathbf{g}$. These are equations on a function of $n$ complex variables $z_i$ taking values in the tensor product of $n$ finite dimensional $\mathbf{g}$-modules. The KZ equations depend on the "dual" variable in the Cartan subalgebra of $\mathbf{g}$. The dynamical differential equations are differential equations with respect to the dual variable. We prove that the standard hypergeometric solutions of the KZ equations also satisfy the dynamical equations. As an application we give a new determinant formula for the coordinates of a basis of hypergeometric solutions.
Asymptotically conserved charges and 2-kink collision in quasi-integrable potential KdV models

Abstract:We study a particular deformation of the potential KdV model (pKdV) and construct the quasi-conservation laws by a direct method. The charge densities, differing from their integrable counterpart with homogeneous degree terms, exhibit mixed scale dimension terms. The modifications of the charges around the soliton interaction regions are examined by numerically simulating some representative anomalies. We show numerically the elastic scattering of two kinks for a wide range of values of the deformation parameters. It is discussed an anomaly cancellation mechanism to define an exact conservation law of the usual pKdV model, and a renormalization procedure is introduced for some divergent charges by subtructing the continuous linear background contribution. The KdV-type equations are quite ubiquitous in several areas of non-linear science, such as the study of General Relativity in $AdS_{3}$, Bose-Einstein condensates, superconductivity and fluid dynamics.

A study on the Belinski-Khalatnikov-Lifshitz scenario through quadrics of kinetic energy

Abstract:A detailed description of the asymptotic behaviour in the Belinski-Khalatnikov-Lifshitz (BKL) scenario is presented through a simple geometric picture. The Lagrangian version of the dynamics governed by the BKL equations is described in terms of trajectories inside a conical subset of the corresponding space of the generalised velocities. The calculations confirm that the initial conditions of decreasing volume inevitably result in total collapse, while oscillations along paths reflecting from a hyperboloid, similar to Kasner's solutions, occur on the way. The exact solution, found in our previous work, proves to be the only one that shrinks to a point along a differentiable path. Therefore, its instability means that the collapse is always chaotic. The collapse of the universe along asymptotics of exact Kasner's solutions is proved to be impossible for solutions of the BKL equations.

Abstract:In this article, we consider the Cauchy problem for the cubic (mass-critical) Zakharov-Kuznetsov equations in dimension two: $$\partial_t u+\partial_{x_1}(\Delta u+u^3)=0,\quad (t,x)\in [0,\infty)\times \mathbb{R}^{2}.$$ For initial data in $H^1$ close to the soliton with a suitable space-decay property, we fully describe the asymptotic behavior of the corresponding solution. More precisely, for such initial data, we show that only three possible behaviors can occur: 1) The solution leaves a tube near soliton in finite time; 2) the solution blows up in finite time; 3) the solution is global and locally converges to a soliton. In addition, we show that for initial data near a soliton with non-positive energy and above the threshold mass, the corresponding solution will blow up as described in Case 2. Our proof is inspired by the techniques developed for mass-critical generalized Korteweg-de Vries equation (gKdV) equation in a similar context by Martel-Merle-Raphaël. More precisely, our proof relies on refined modulation estimates and a modified energy-virial Lyapunov functional. The primary challenge in our problem is the lack of coercivity of the Schrödinger operator which appears in the virial-type estimate. To overcome the difficulty, we apply a transform, which was first introduced in Kenig-Martel [13], to perform the virial computations after converting the original problem to the adjoint one. Th coercivity of the Schrödinger operator in the adjoint problem has been numerically verified by Farah-Holmer-Roudenko-Yang [9].

Abstract:We show that Shakirov's non-stationary difference equation, when it is truncated, implies the quantum Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov ($q$-KZ) equation for $U_{\mathsf v}\bigl(A_1^{(1)}\bigr)$ with generic spins. Namely, we can tune mass parameters so that the Hamiltonian acts on the space of finite Laurent polynomials. Then the representation matrix of the Hamiltonian agrees with the $R$-matrix, or the quantum $6j$ symbols. On the other hand, we prove that the $K$ theoretic Nekrasov partition function from the affine Laumon space is identified with the well-studied Jackson integral solution to the $q$-KZ equation. Combining these results, we establish that the affine Laumon partition function gives a solution to Shakirov's equation, which was a conjecture in our previous paper. We also work out the base-fiber duality and four-dimensional limit in relation with the $q$-KZ equation.

N-point Spherical Functions and Asymptotic Boundary KZB Equations

Abstract:Let G be a split real connected Lie group with finite center. In the first part of the paper we define and study formal elementary spherical functions. They are formal power series analogues of elementary spherical functions on G in which the role of the quasi-simple admissible G -representations is replaced by Verma modules. For generic highest weight we express the formal elementary spherical functions in terms of Harish-Chandra series and integrate them to spherical functions on the regular part of G . We show that they produce eigenstates for spin versions of quantum hyperbolic Calogero–Moser systems. In the second part of the paper we define and study special subclasses of global and formal elementary spherical functions, which we call global and formal N -point spherical functions. Formal N -point spherical functions arise as limits of correlation functions for boundary Wess–Zumino–Witten conformal field theory on the cylinder when the position variables tend to infinity. We construct global N -point spherical functions in terms of compositions of equivariant differential intertwiners associated with principal series representations, and express them in terms of Eisenstein integrals. We show that the eigenstates of the quantum spin Calogero–Moser system associated to N -point spherical functions are also common eigenfunctions of a commuting family of first-order differential operators, which we call asymptotic boundary Knizhnik–Zamolodchikov–Bernard operators. These operators are explicitly given in terms of folded classical dynamical r -matrices and associated dynamical k -matrices.

Abstract:We initiate the study of the asymptotic behavior of small solutions to one-dimensional Klein-Gordon equations with variable coefficient quadratic nonlinearities. The main discovery in this work is a striking resonant interaction between specific spatial frequencies of the variable coefficient and the temporal oscillations of the solutions. In the resonant case a novel type of modified scattering behavior occurs that exhibits a logarithmic slow-down of the decay rate along certain rays. In the non-resonant case we introduce a new variable coefficient quadratic normal form and establish sharp decay estimates and asymptotics in the presence of a critically dispersing constant coefficient cubic nonlinearity. The Klein-Gordon models considered in this paper are motivated by the study of the asymptotic stability of kink solutions to classical nonlinear scalar field equations on the real line.

Abstract:The concept of intermediate asymptotics for the solution of an evolution equation with initial data and a related solution obtained without initial conditions was introduced by G.N. Barenblatt and Ya.B. Zeldovich in the context of extending the concept of strict determinism in statistical physics and quantum mechanics. Here, according to V.P. Maslov, to axiomatize the mathematical theory, we need to know the conditions satisfied by the initial data of the problem. We show that the correct solvability of a problem without initial conditions for fractional differential equations in a Banach space is a necessary, but not sufficient, condition for intermediate asymptotics. Examples of intermediate asymptotics are given.

Abstract:Abstract We study the qKZ difference equations with values in the th tensor power of the vector representation , variables , and integer step . For any integer relatively prime to the step , we construct a family of polynomials in variables with values in such that the coordinates of these polynomials with respect to the standard basis of are polynomials with integer coefficients. We show that satisfy the qKZ equations modulo . Polynomials are modulo analogs of the hypergeometric solutions of the qKZ given in the form of multidimensional Barnes integrals.

Abstract:A general algebraic method of quantum corrections evaluation is presented. Quantum corrections to a few classical solutions (kinks and periodic) of Ginzburg-Landau (phi-in-quadro) and Sin-Gordon models are calculated in arbitrary dimensions. The Green function for heat equation with a soliton potential is constructed by means of Laplace transformation theory and Hermit equation for the Green function transform. The generalized zeta-function is used to evaluate the functional integral and quantum corrections to mass in quasiclassical approximation.
