Abstract:With the rapid development of imaging equipment and technology,modern medical imaging has entered the digital stage.The appearance and application of PACS greatly promotes the improvement of the digital mode of medical imaging teaching and also opens up new ideas for digitalized imaging teaching.After years of experience in PACS teaching,our department constructed a T-PACS teaching system.Practice shows that this system not only makes full use of the advantages and features of PACS system in teaching,but also makes up for its inadequacy,enhances teacher-student interaction,increases students' learning motivation,autonomy and learning efficiency as well as strengthens scientific management and evaluation of students.

Abstract:PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) is successfully applied in Huzhou Central Hospital, and is well integrated with its HIS system by WEBSERVICE middleware. The system supports DICOM 3.0 Standard, and DICOM gateways are installed for modalities that do not support DICOM so as to have implemented the digitalization of all the image departments in the hospital.

Abstract:Objective In this paper,the application value of medical picture archiving and communication system(PACS) in teaching of medical imaging was evaluated.Methods PACS was used to construct medical imaging teaching library resources and valuable image data of nearly 30,000 copies were accumulated.By making a full set of multimedia presentation of courseware,we set up network programs and electronic database on exam questions and established a large-screen multimedia film reading rooms.Results The traditional medical imaging teaching method was changed and the real-time and diversified imaging teaching was realized.Unanimous praise was obtained in medical imaging teaching,clinical practice and training.Conclusion PACS is conducive to raising the quality of teaching medical imaging teaching and deserves further improvement and popularization.

Abstract:In order to evaluate the diagnostic value of the PACS, the PACS has been applied to Dept.of Radiology in Renji Hospital in Shanghai for nearly two and a half years. Clinical practice shows that the doctors can work more efficiently and accurately by using the diagnostic workstation of PACS. PACS is an inevitable development trend of image diagnosis and is playing a more and more important role in clinical applications.

Abstract:Objective The application of picture archival and communication (PACS)in Chinese hospitals allows experience sharing by top experts from tier-1 hospitals.This article focuses on the advantages of applying the remote educational framework for radiology departments in grass-root hospitals. Methods We established several conference centers equipped with video conference devices and PACS for telemedicine in the information center.During these teleconferences,doctors in rural hospitals can exchange real-time information including imaging data via PACS,audio and video signals with their remote counterparts using 20M broadband network.Results Imaging telediagnosis and teaching mode have upgraded the diagnosis ability of doctors in rural hospitals,saved the cost of expert resources,and reduced the cost of talented personnel education in rural hospitals.Conclusion In the future,distance imageology teaching mode will be a platform for medical exchanges integrating medical care,teaching and research;therefore,it has value of application.

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the teaching effects of case introduced method based on picture archiving and communication system (PACS) system in medical imaging course.Methods Totally 148 students (2009 grade) majored in five-year clinical medicine from Xiangya Medical College were divided into 10 groups; the 10 groups were taken randomly as control group (n=75) and experimental group (n=73).Control group used traditional teaching methods (film teaching) while experimental group used case introduced method based on PACS system.Effects of teaching between were evaluated by questionnaire and test.x2 test was used to compare students' theoretical test scores,with α level =0.05.Results Based on results of questionnaires,more students in experimental group than in control group hold that case introduced method based on PACS system can achieve the purpose of teaching,improve interests in learning,and strengthen the mastery of knowledge.Test scores showed that the percentage of students scored 90-100 and 80-89 (respectively 14％,75％) in experimental group was significantly higher than that in control group (respectively 5％,66％) (x2 =17.932,P=0.000).Conclusions Application of case introduced method based on PACS system in medical imaging course not only improve students' motivation to learn and their clinical ability,but also allow teachers to find and correct shortcomings of students timely,therefore,it is worth promoting.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the application values of the picture achieving and communicating system (PACS) in the practice learning in the course of medical imaging.Methods Taking 90 eight-year program medical students of class 2012 and 2013 of Peking University Health Science Center as the research object.They were divided into experimental group (n=47) and the control group (n=43) according to class of 2013 and 2012, respectively.In the experimental group, PACS was introduced in the practice learning of the medical imaging.In the control group, conventional films were used.The application values of PACS were evaluated by the results of questionnaires and examinations.Results The scores of practice learning of medical imaging in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group (t=3.108, P<0.05).Based on questionnaires after the courses, all students in the experimental group were satisfied with the using of PACS in practice learning of medical imaging.Conclusions PACS is a useful tool in the practice learning of medical imaging, and could be generalized in the future.

Abstract:Objective To disclosure the importance of picture achieving communication system(PACS) in medical student training by comparing the radiology teaching processes and results before and after PACS installed in a university-affiliated hospital. Methods The radiology teaching processes and results of Ruijin Hospital from 2001 to 2006 were compared.The following parameters were involved: courseware's average editing duration,the first edition application periods,turnover rate per year,the time difference between images taken and courseware-made,time consuming of intern teaching imaging preparation,the preparation time and personnel numbers of film reading examination,and average scores of intern reading examination. Results Courseware's average editing duration was decreased from 4.5 to 2.5 months.The first edition application duration decreased from 3.2 to 1.5 years,and turnover rate per year increased by 21%.Time consuming between images taken and courseware-made decreased from 10.8 to 2.3 years(P0.001).The printed films were unutilized in the intern reading before PACS installed,15% of which were partially damaged and fade.In contrast,the entire document had been computerized and 85% of which had been downloaded in the last 3 years since PACS installed.The download time decreased from 12.4 days to 12';the similar film reading examination preparation time decreased from 4 weeks to 2 days;and the faculty needed reclucerl from 3 person to 1 person.Intern reading scores increased by 10.1 points in average. Conclusion PACS was helpful to reduce personnel resource for radiology teaching preparation and thus improving the efficiency and teaching quality.

Abstract:The teaching-PACS(T-PACS)multimedia network system was a system for teaching in clinic education of medical imaging based on the radiology information system(RIS)and picture archiving and communication system(PACS).The application of the T-PACS system terminal for teaching and studying of medical imaging was a important component element of the systems-based practice of clinic education.T-PACS teaching system has such advantages as practical,efficient,resource sharing and so on,and can integrate multi-disciplinary knowledge and multi-imaging tools to teach in medical imaging,and make students to have more integrity prehension in medical imaging.So the application of T-PACS has provided favorable conditions for reform of the medical imaging teaching model,and has a positive role in the construction of systems-based practice of clinic education.

Abstract:Objective: To explore the application effect of virtual simulation experiment combined with picture archiving and communication system (PACS) in medical imaging practical teaching. Methods: 97 students from the medical imaging class of 2022 were divided into two groups; the control group (n = 48) was taught by the traditional teaching method, whereas the research group was taught by virtual simulation experiment combined with PACS (n = 49). The teaching achievements and teaching effects of the two groups were compared to define the advantages of the two teaching modes. Results: Initially, there were no significant differences in the basic theory, image analysis, report writing, and differential diagnosis scores between the two groups of students (P > 0.05); however, after 16 weeks of teaching, the scores of the research group were better than those of the control group (P < 0.05); the pass rate of students in the study group (93.88%) was higher than that in the control group (81.25%); the scores of students in the research group in terms of clinical inquiry skills, X-ray/computed tomography/magnetic resonance imaging (X-ray/CT/MRI) operation skills, and doctor-patient communication skills were significantly higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: In medical imaging practical teaching, the application of virtual simulation experiment combined with PACS can effectively address several problems in the traditional teaching mode, including the single teaching method, the single teaching content, and the lack of innovation, and, at the same time, improve students’ basic theoretical knowledge, X-ray/CT/MRI operation skills, consultation skills, and doctor-patient communication skills, thereby effectively improving the teaching quality and learning effect.

Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the practice of video imaging training for internal clinical interns through the use of the Picture Archiving and Communicating System (PACS) and the "Interactive" teaching method, and to evaluate the application of the PACS system to medical imaging teaching training. The feasibility and advantages. Methods: A total of 40 medical students in the fifth year of the clinical long-term study system of Peking University People' s Hospital were selected as subjects. Divided into 2 groups for each 2 hours of chest imaging training. The main content of the training is the discovery and qualitative diagnosis of pulmonary nodules. The training methods are teacher-led teaching and interactive teaching. Both are done in the PACS system. After the training, a questionnaire survey was conducted to understand the impact of interactive teaching methods based on PACS on teaching effectiveness. Results: The results of questionnaires from 40 trainees of internal medical interns showed that the use of PACS for chest imaging can help to understand the anatomy of chest CT images, help to find lesions, and perform sign analysis. Compared with the guiding pedagogy, trainees showed a more positive attitude toward interactive teaching methods, especially for self-directed learning. Trained students believe that interactive teaching methods are more effective. Conclusion: The combination of PACS system and interactive teaching methods, as a novel and effective teaching method, has achieved initial results in chest imaging training.

Abstract:Following along the medical digital developing continually, the traditional image of film formats is replaced gradually by the Picture Archiving and Communications system (PACS).PACS became an information platform in communion with the hospital images information, which is the important link of the digital information to the hospital. At present, the application of PACS in the department of the hospital images is still the probation stage so that many hospitals weren't enough familiar with the system. Then, the data collection processes according with medical digital image were summarized to the microcomputer PACS. Hence, PACS will be more actually applied in medical treatment system, and more effectively increased the hospital for medical services and management and diagnosis of disease level.

Abstract:Objective To improve the teaching effects of medical image processing.Methods Teaching content was reformed considering the problems encountered during clinical practice and research. Modern teaching methods such as problem-based learning and flipped classroom were adopted. In addition, professors from world famous Universities were invited to teach lessons.A website was also built for this course.Moreover,the students were encouraged to participate in after-class research.Finally,a new practice-based teaching mode with characteristic content and modern methods was developed.By adopting information technology,all-round students could be gifted with international vision.Results The students'interest was stimulated and their problem solving skills were improved.Conclusion The teaching effects of medical image processing can be largely improved by research,so that the students can not only master the course content well but also develop skills to solve practical problems.

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the value of picture archiving and communication system(PACS)and radiology infor-mation system(RIS)in the daily work of radiologist.Methods With the PACS,the medical images of X-ray,CR,CT,MRI have been successfully finished storage and transmission.Using the image workstation,the radiologist can review,measure,copy,magnify or shrink and make date statistical analysis of the images,also can adjust the window width and window level.According the imaging features,radiologist made up and printed the diagnostic reports in RIS by modi-fying the model of diagnosis report.Results After more than two years practice,the radiologists in our department all have mastered the methods of application of PACS/RIS.With this system,non-film reading to diagnose have been carried out,the quality of imaging diagnoses has been improved,the time for patient waiting for diagnostic report has been shorten,and the works of teaching and researching have been remarkably enhanced.Conclusion By using the PACS/RIS,the radiologist has obviously increased the working efficiency,a patient does not need long time for waiting the diagnostic report.
