Abstract:We show weak existence and uniqueness in law for a general class of stochastic differential equations in $\mathbb{R}^d$, $d\ge 1$, with prescribed sub-invariant measure $\widehat{\mu}$. The dispersion and drift coefficients of the stochastic differential equation are allowed to be degenerate and discontinuous, and locally unbounded, respectively. Uniqueness in law is obtained via $L^1(\mathbb{R}^d,\widehat{\mu})$-uniqueness in a subclass of continuous Markov processes, namely right processes that have $\widehat{\mu}$ as sub-invariant measure and have continuous paths for $\widehat{\mu}$-almost every starting point. Weak existence is obtained for a broader class via the martingale problem.

Abstract:In this short article, we shall study one-dimensional local Dirichlet spaces. One result, which has its independent interest, is to prove that irreducibility implies the uniqueness of symmetrizing measure for right Markov processes. The other result is to give a representation for any 1-dim local, irreducible and regular Dirichlet space and a necessary and sufficient condition for a Dirichlet space to be regular subspace of another Dirichlet space.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a locally compact group and $\mu$ an admissible probability measure on $G$. Let $(B,\nu)$ be the universal topological Poisson $\mu$-boundary of $(G,\mu)$ and $\Pi_s(G)$ the universal minimal strongly proximal $G$-flow. This note is inspired by a recent result of Hartman and Kalantar. We show that for a locally compact second countable group $G$ the following conditions are equivalent: (i) the measure $\nu$ is the unique $\mu$-stationary measure on $B$, (ii) $(B,G) \cong (\Pi_s(G),G)$.

We prove that Furstenberg entropy is an invariant of weak equivalence, and moreover that it descends to a continuous function on the space of weak equivalence classes.

Abstract:We consider a random connection model (RCM) on a general space driven by a Poisson process whose intensity measure is scaled by a parameter $t\ge 0$. We say that the infinite clusters are deletion stable if the removal of a Poisson point cannot split a cluster in two or more infinite clusters. We prove that this stability together with a natural irreducibility assumption implies uniqueness of the infinite cluster. Conversely, if the infinite cluster is unique then this stability property holds. Several criteria for irreducibility will be established. We also study the analytic properties of expectations of functions of clusters as a function of $t$. In particular we show that the position dependent cluster density is differentiable. A significant part of this paper is devoted to the important case of a stationary marked RCM (in Euclidean space), containing the Boolean model with general compact grains and the so-called weighted RCM as special cases. In this case we establish differentiability and a convexity property of the cluster density $\kappa(t)$. These properties are crucial for our proof of deletion stability of the infinite clusters but are also of interest in their own right. It then follows that an irreducible stationary marked RCM can have at most one infinite cluster. This extends and unifies several results in the literature.

Abstract:A sequence of random variables is called exchangeable if its joint distribution is invariant under permutations. The original formulation of de Finetti's theorem says that any exchangeable sequence of $\{0,1\}$-valued random variables can be thought of as a mixture of independent and identically distributed sequences in a certain precise mathematical sense. Interpreting this statement from a convex analytic perspective, Hewitt and Savage obtained the same conclusion for more general state spaces under some topological conditions. The main contribution of this paper is in providing a new framework that explains the theorem purely as a consequence of the underlying distribution of the random variables, with no topological conditions (beyond Hausdorffness) on the state space being necessary if the distribution is Radon. We also show that it is consistent with the axioms of ZFC that de Finetti's theorem holds for all sequences of exchangeable random variables taking values in any complete metric space. The framework we use is based on nonstandard analysis. We have provided a self-contained introduction to nonstandard analysis as an appendix, thus rendering measure theoretic probability and point-set topology as the only prerequisites for this paper. Our introduction aims to develop some new ideologies that might be of interest to mathematicians, philosophers, and mathematics educators alike. Our technical tools come from nonstandard topological measure theory, in which a highlight is a new generalization of Prokhorov's theorem. Modulo such technical tools, our proof relies on properties of the empirical measures induced by hyperfinitely many identically distributed random variables -- a feature that allows us to establish de Finetti's theorem in the generality that we seek while still retaining the combinatorial intuition of proofs of simpler versions of de Finetti's theorem.

Abstract: In this article we prove that for a $C^{1+\alpha}$ diffeomorphism on a compact Riemannian manifold, if there is a hyperbolic ergodic measure whose support is not uniformly hyperbolic, then the topological entropy of the set of irregular points that are not uniformly hyperbolic is larger than or equal to the metric entropy of the hyperbolic ergodic measure. In the process of proof, we give an abstract general mechanism to study topological entropy of irregular points provided that the system has a sequence of nondecreasing invariant compact subsets such that every subsystem has shadowing property and is transitive.

Abstract:In [BGH] the authors show that for a given topological dynamical system ( X,T ) and an open cover u there is an invariant measure μ such that inf h μ ( T ,ℙ)≥ h top ( T,U ) where infimum is taken over all partitions finer than u . We prove in this paper that if μ is an invariant measure and h μ ( T ,ℙ) > 0 for each ℙ finer than u , then inf h μ ( T ,ℙ > 0 and h top ( T,U ) > 0. The results are applied to study the topological analogue of the Kolmogorov system in ergodic theory, namely uniform positive entropy (u.p.e.) of order n ( n ≥2) or u.p.e. of all orders. We show that for each n ≥2 the set of all topological entropy n -tuples is the union of the set of entropy n -tuples for an invariant measure over all invariant measures. Characterizations of positive entropy, u.p.e. of order n and u.p.e. of all orders are obtained. We could answer several open questions concerning the nature of u.p.e. and c.p.e.. Particularly, we show that u.p.e. of order n does not imply u.p.e. of order n +1 for each n ≥2. Applying the methods and results obtained in the paper, we show that u.p.e. (of order 2) system is weakly disjoint from all transitive systems, and the product of u.p.e. of order n (resp. of all orders) systems is again u.p.e. of order n (resp. of all orders).
When invariance implies exchangeability (and applications to invariant Keisler measures)

Abstract:We study the problem of when, given a homogeneous structure $M$ and a space $S$ of expansions of $M$, every $\mathrm{Aut}(M)$-invariant probability measure on $S$ is exchangeable (i.e. $S_\infty$-invariant). We define a condition of $k$-overlap closedness on $M$ which implies exchangeability of random expansions by a class of structures whose finite substructures are all contained in a hereditary class with labelled growth-rate $O(e^{n^{k+\delta}})$ for all $\delta>0$. For example, the generic tetrahedron-free $3$-hypergraph is $2$-overlap closed and so all of its random expansions by graphs are exchangeable. Our more general results on $k$-overlap closedness for homogeneous structures imply the same for every finitely bounded homogeneous $3$-hypergraph with free amalgamation. Our results extend and recover both the work of Angel, Kechris and Lyons on invariant random orderings of homogeneous structures and some of the work of Crane and Towsner, and Ackerman on relatively exchangeable structures. We also study conditions under which there are non-exchangeable invariant random expansions looking at the universal homogeneous kay-graphs. In the second part of the paper we apply our results to study invariant Keisler measures in homogeneous structures. We prove that invariant Keisler measures can be viewed as a particular kind of invariant random expansion. Thus, we describe the spaces of invariant Keisler measures of various homogeneous structures, obtaining the first results of this kind since the work of Albert and Ensley. We also show there are $2^{\aleph_0}$ supersimple homogeneous ternary structures for which there are non-forking formulas which are universally measure zero.

Abstract:We establish the general equivalence between rare event process for arbitrary continuous functions whose maximal values are achieved on non-trivial sets, and the entry times distribution for arbitrary measure zero sets. We then use it to show that the for differentiable maps on a compact Riemannian manifold that can be modeled by Young's towers, the rare event process and the limiting entry times distribution both converge to compound Poisson distributions. A similar result is also obtained on Gibbs-Markov systems, for both cylinders and open sets. We also give explicit expressions for the parameters of the limiting distribution, and a simple criterion for the limiting distribution to be Poisson. This can be applied to a large family of continuous observables that achieve their maximum on a non-trivial set with zero measure.

Abstract:For , the -free subshift is the orbit closure of the characteristic function of the set of -free integers. We show that many results about invariant measures and entropy, previously only known for the hereditary closure of , have their analogues for as well. In particular, we settle in the affirmative a conjecture of Keller about a description of such measures [G. Keller. Generalized heredity in -free systems. Stoch. Dyn.21(3) (2021), Paper No. 2140008]. A central assumption in our work is that (the Toeplitz sequence that generates the unique minimal component of ) is regular. From this, we obtain natural periodic approximations that we frequently use in our proofs to bound the elements in from above and below.

Abstract:The classical de Finetti Theorem classifies the $\mathrm{Sym}(\mathbb N)$-invariant probability measures on $[0,1]^{\mathbb N}$. More precisely it states that those invariant measures are combinations of measures of the form $\nu^{\otimes\mathbb N}$ where $\nu$ is a measure on $[0,1]$. Recently, Jahel--Tsankov generalized this theorem showing that under conditions on $M$, the group $\operatorname{Aut}(M)$ is de Finetti, i.e. $\operatorname{Aut}(M)$-invariant measures on $[0,1]^M$ are mixtures of measures of the form $\nu^{\otimes M}$ where $\nu$ is a measure on $[0,1]$. In this note, we give an example of a non-de Finetti non-Archimedean group.

Uniqueness of the $Φ^4_3$ measures on closed Riemannian $3$-manifolds

Abstract:We constructed in a previous work the $\Phi^4_3$ measures on compact boundaryless $3$-dimensional Riemannian manifolds as some invariant probability measures of some Markovian dynamics. We prove in the present work that these dynamics have unique invariant probability measures. This is done by using an explicit coupling by change of measure that does not require any a priori information on the support of the law of the solution to the dynamics. In addition, the coupling can be used to see that the semigroup generated by the dynamics satisfies a Harnack-type inequality, which entails that the semigroup has the strong Feller property.

Abstract:In this paper we deal with an invariant ergodic hyperbolic measure $\mu$ for a diffeomorphism $f,$ assuming that $f$ it is either $C^{1+\alpha}$ or $f$ is $C^1$ and the Oseledec splitting of $\mu$ is dominated. We show that this system $(f,\mu)$ satisfies a weaker and non-uniform version of specification, related with notions studied in several recent papers, including \cite{STV,Y, PS, T,Var, Oli}. Our main results have several consequences: as corollaries, we are able to improve the results about quantitative Poincar\'e recurrence, removing the assumption of the non-uniform specification property in the main Theorem of \cite{STV} that establishes an inequality between Lyapunov exponents and local recurrence properties. Another consequence is the fact that any of such measure is the weak limit of averages of Dirac measures at periodic points, as in \cite{Sigmund}. Following \cite{Y} and \cite{PS}, one can show that the topological pressure can be calculated by considering the convenient weighted sums on periodic points, whenever the dynamics is positive expansive and every measure with pressure close to the topological pressure is hyperbolic.

Abstract:We show that the orbit equivalence relation of a free action of a locally compact group is hyperfinite (à la Connes-Feldman-Weiss) precisely when it is 'hypercompact'. This implies an uncountable version of the Ornstein-Weiss Theorem and that every locally compact group admitting a hypercompact probability preserving free action is amenable. We also establish an uncountable version of Danilenko's Random Ratio Ergodic Theorem. From this we deduce the 'Hopf dichotomy' for many nonsingular Bernoulli actions.
