Abstract:> The a. s. limiting behavior of increments of partial sums for a sequence of random variables has been discussed by many authors. A series of fine and elegant results have been obtained. However, up to now, the results of this kind have all required the existence of moments. In this paper we try to drop this condition. The existing results with moment conditions become special cases of our theorems.

Abstract:We prove that the Riemann zeta function and the Euler gamma function cannot satisfy a class of non-trivial algebraic difference equations with functional coefficients that are connected to the zeros of the Riemann zeta function on the critical line . The main result of this paper is the difference analogue of the corresponding result from Li–Ye (J. Differential Equations 260(2):1456–1464, 2016), and improves the corresponding result from Chiang–Feng (Acta Arith. 125(4):317–329, 2006). Examples are provided to show that the main results in this paper, in a sense, are best possible.

Abstract:In this Letter we show that the claim made in [V. Gogohia, Phys. Lett. B 611 (2005) 129] that the ladder approximation to QCD is internally inconsistent is incorrect. The incorrect conclusion in [V. Gogohia, Phys. Lett. B 611 (2005) 129] is based on the incorrect use of a QED-type Ward–Takahashi relation, which does not hold in the ladder approximation to QCD. We give a proof for this fact.

Abstract:In 2008 I thought I found a proof of the Riemann Hypothesis, but there was an error. In the Spring 2020 I believed to have fixed the error, but it cannot be fixed. I describe here where the error was. It took me several days to find the error in a careful checking before a possible submission to a payable review offered by one leading journal. There were three simple lemmas and one simple theorem, all were correct, yet there was an error: what Lemma 2 proved was not exactly what Lemma 3 needed. So, it was the connection of the lemmas. This paper came out empty, but I have found a different proof of the Riemann Hypothesis and it seems so far correct. In the discussion at the end of this paper I raise a matter that I think is of importance to the review process in mathematics.

The finite precision computation and the nonconvergence of difference scheme

Abstract:The authors show that the round-off error can break the consistency which is the premise of using the difference equation to replace the original differential equations. We therefore proposed a theoretical approach to investigate this effect, and found that the difference scheme can not guarantee the convergence of the actual compute result to the analytical one. A conservation scheme experiment is applied to solve a simple linear differential equation satisfing the LAX equivalence theorem in a finite precision computer. The result of this experiment is not convergent when time step-size decreases trend to zero, which proves that even the stable scheme can't guarantee the numerical convergence in finite precision computer. Further the relative convergence concept is introduced.

Abstract:This note corrects a mistake in the original book in the evolution equations of total curvature for the curve-shrinking flow in an ambient Ricci Flow. The resulting upper bound for the evolution of total curvature is an exponential bound in time. The change involves the multiplicative constant. Here we show that it depends on the initial total curvature and the initial length, rather than just on the initial total curvature as was asserted before. This change does not affect the application of these results to prove finite-time extinction when the third homotopy group of the manifold is non-trivial.

Abstract:When considering stochastic integration and the theory of stochastic differential equations, P. Protter's textbook \cite{protter} undoubtedly is a main piece of standard literature. Not only is it well-written, but it also contains various profound results regarding these fields. Unfortunately, Theorem 12 of Chapter V, which presents an equivalence to uniform convergence on compacts in probability, is found to be incorrect. Given that numerous important results rely on this theorem, this paper aims to present a corrected version of it.
