microRNA:A new cancer biomarker

Abstract:MicroRNAs(miRNAs) are a class of non-coding small RNAs.They play an important role as a post-transcriptional regulator in the protein synthesis,and are involved in almost each biological process on cellular level up to now.miRNAs have given us a new perspective to understand carcinogenesis and demonstrated the potential role to act as the cancer biomarkers as well as the target for cancer treatment.In this review,we summarized the achievements for miRNAs as cancer biomarkers in aiding diagnosis,therapy effect prediction and prognosis in order to figure out the potential prospects in clinical application.
