The Value of Multi-Slice Helical CT in Preoperative Evaluation of Living Renal Donor

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the value of multi-slice spiral CT in preoperative evaluation of living renal donor.Methods:58 living renal donors underwent multiphase(plain scan,arterial phase,venous and excretory phase) MSCT scan before operation,all the image information were send to GE workstation AW4.2,Reconstruction and processing included volume rendering(VR),maximum intensity projection(MIP),multiple planar reconstruction(MPR),curved planar reconstruction(CPR).30 findings of MSCT were compared with intraoperative findings so as to investigate the value in assessing renal vascular,urinary tract and lesion of renal parenchyma.Results:MSCT angiography is in accordance with intraoperative findings in demonstrating the anatomy of renal arteries and renal vein trunks,accessory arteries,early branching of renal artery,the variations on renal arteries and veins.CT urography also demonstrates the urinary tract in good agreement with intraoperative findings.Which facilitate intraoperative ligation and deduce relevant complications.Conclusion:The MSCT multiphase scanning play a very important role in the assessing renal donor,through which we can obtain the details of vascular,urinary tract and lesion of renal parenchyma before kidney transplantation.
