Abstract:In this note, we prove that the Schrödinger flow of maps from a closed Rieman surface into a compact irreducible Hermitian symmetric space admits a global weak solution. Also, we show the existence of weak solutions to the initial value problem of Heisenberg model wit Lie algebra values, which is closely related to the Schrödinger flow on compact Hermitian symmetric spaces.

Abstract:More recently, the local well-posedness of the Cauchy problem of the Schrödinger flow of maps from R2 to H2, the hyperbolic 2-space, was proved in [28]. In this paper, we display a blow-up result of solutions to such a Schrödinger flow. This shows a widely believed assertion that solutions to Schrödinger flows may blow up in finite time in general when the dimensions of starting manifolds are greater than 2 ([14]).

Abstract:Motivated by linear Schrodinger equations with almost periodic potentials and phase transitions over almost periodic lattices, we introduce the so-called skew-product quasi-flows (SPQFs), which may admit both temporal and spatial discontinuity. In this paper we establish two basic theorems for SPQFs. One is an extension of the Bogoliubov-Krylov theorem for the existence of invariant Borel probability measures and the other is the uniform ergodic theorems. As applications, it will be shown that such a Schrodinger equation admits a well-defined rotation number.

Abstract:In this paper, we show the existence and uniqueness of local regular solutions to the initial-Neumann boundary value problem of Schrödinger flow from a smooth bounded domain $\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^3$ into $\mathbb{S}^2$(namely Landau-Lifshitz equation without dissipation). The proof is built on a parabolic perturbation method, an intrinsic geometric energy argument and some observations on the behaviors of some geometric quantities on the boundary of the domain manifold. It is based on methods from Ding and Wang (one of the authors of this paper) for the Schrödinger flows of maps from a closed Riemannian manifold into a Kähler manifold as well as on methods by Carbou and Jizzini for solutions of the Landau-Lifshitz equation.

Abstract:In this paper we show that there exists a unique local smooth solution for the Cauchy problem of the Schrodinger flow for maps from a compact Riemannian manifold into a complete Kahler manifold, or from a Euclidean space Rm into a compact Kahler manifold. As a consequence, we prove that Heisenberg spin system is locally well-posed in the appropriate Sobolev spaces.

Abstract:We present a short-time existence theorem of solutions to the initial value problem for Schroedinger maps of a closed Riemannian manifold to a compact almost Hermitian manifold. The classical energy method cannot work for this problem since the almost complex structure of the target manifold is not supposed to be parallel with respect to the Levi-Civita connection. In other words, a loss of one derivative arises from the covariant derivative of the almost complex structure. To overcome this difficulty, we introduce a bounded pseudodifferential operator acting on sections of the pullback bundle, and essentially eliminate the loss of one derivative from the partial differential equation of the Schroedinger map.

Abstract:We investigate a dissipative hyperbolic geometry flow in two space variables for which a new nonlinear wave equation is derived. Based on an energy method, the global existence of solutions to the dissipative hyperbolic geometry flow is established. Furthermore, the scalar curvature of the metric remains uniformly bounded. Moreover, under suitable assumptions, we establish the global existence of classical solutions to the Cauchy problem, and we show that the solution and its derivative decay to zero as the time tends to infinity. In addition, the scalar curvature of the solution metric converges to the one of the flat metric at an algebraic rate.

Abstract:The gauge equivalence of the analogues of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation NLS- and those of the Schrodinger flow of maps into H-2 (the Minkowski HF model) in 2 + 1 dimensions are proved, respectively. Combining these with the already-known results, we obtain a complete understanding of the gauge equivalence of the analogous models of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation (for kappa = 1 or -1) and those of the Heisenberg ferromagnet model (for Euclidean or Minkowski) in 2 + 1 dimensions.

Abstract:In this article, we consider the Schrodinger flow of maps from two dimensional hyperbolic space H-2 to sphere S-2. First, we prove the local existence and uniqueness of Schrodinger flow for initial data u(0) is an element of H-3 using an approximation scheme and parallel transport introduced by McGahagan [32]. Second, using the Coulomb gauge, we reduce the study of the equivariant Schrodinger flow to that of a system of coupled Schrodinger equations with potentials. Then we prove the global existence of equivariant Schrodinger flow for small initial data u(0) is an element of H-1 by Strichartz estimates and perturbation method.

Abstract:The incompressible Schrodinger flow is a Madelung's hydrodynamical form of quantum mechanics, which can simulate classical fluids with particular advantage in its simplicity and its ability of capturing thin vortex dynamics. This model enables robust simulation of intricate phenomena such as vortical wakes and interacting vortex filaments. In this article, we prove the global regularity and asymptotic behaviors for incompressible Schrodinger flow with small and localized data in three dimensions. We choose a suitable gauge to rewrite the system, and then use Fourier analysis and vector field method to prove global existence and asymptotic behavior. (c) 2024 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
On the convergence of the Willmore flow with Dirichlet boundary conditions

Abstract:Very little is yet known regarding the Willmore flow of surfaces with Dirichlet boundary conditions. We consider surfaces with a rotational symmetry as initial data and prove a global existence and convergence result for solutions of the Willmore flow with initial data below an explicit, sharp energy threshold. Strikingly, this threshold depends on the prescribed boundary conditions - it can even be made to be $0$. We show sharpness for some critical boundary data by constructing surfaces above this energy threshold so that the corresponding Willmore flow develops a singularity. Finally, a Li-Yau inequality for open curves in $\mathbb{H}^2$ is proved.

Abstract:By using holomorphic Riemannian geometry in ℂ3, the coupled Landau-Lifshitz equation (CLL) is proved to be exactly the equation of Schrödinger flows from ℝ1 to the complex 2-sphere ℂS2(1) ↪ ℂ3. Furthermore, regarded as a model of moving complex curves in ℂ3, CLL is shown to preserve the $$\mathcal{PT}$$ symmetry if the initial data is of the $$\mathcal{P}$$ symmetry. As a consequence, the nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NNLS) proposed recently by Ablowitz and Musslimani is proved to be gauge equivalent to CLL with initial data being restricted by the $$\mathcal{P}$$ symmetry. This gives an accurate characterization of the gauge-equivalent magnetic structure of NNLS described roughly by Gadzhimuradov and Agalarov (2016).

Abstract:We introduce and investigate a generalization of the Hele-Shaw flow with injection where several droplets compete for space as they try to expand due to internal pressure while still preserving their topology. Droplets are described by their closed non-crossing interface curves in $\mathbb{C}$ or more generally in a Riemann surface of finite type. Our main focus is on stationary solutions which we show correspond to the critical vertical trajectories of a particular quadratic differential with second order poles at the source points. The quadratic differentials that arise in this way have a simple description in terms of their associated half-translation surfaces. Existence of stationary solutions is proved in some generality by solving an extremal problem involving an electrostatic energy functional, generalizing a classic problem studied by Teichmüller, Jenkins, Strebel and others. We study several special cases, including stationary Jordan curves on the Riemann sphere. We also introduce a discrete random version of the dynamics closely related to Propp's competitive erosion model, and conjecture that realizations of the lattice model will converge towards a corresponding solution to the competitive Hele-Shaw problem as the mesh size tends to zero.

Abstract:The problem of constructing flows associated with first order ordinary differential equations (ODEs) with spatially non-Lipschitz right-hand side is considered. Due to the lack of uniqueness of the solutions, standard flows cannot be defined in this case. For these situations, it is natural to introduce generalized flows which are random fields constructed by assigning a probability measure on the set of maps associated with the solutions of the ODEs. Some properties of the generalized flows are discussed here, in particular in terms of transport, via simple one-dimensional examples. These simple examples display a wide variety of behaviors and indicate that a general theory of generalized flows is likely to be inaccessible because they typically lack desirable properties such as stability with respect to perturbations or Markovianity in time.
Non-Linear Operator-valued Elliptic Flows with Application to Quantum Field Theory

Abstract:Differential equations on spaces of operators are very little developed in Mathematics, being in general very challenging. Here, we study a novel system of such (non-linear) differential equations. We show it has a unique solution for all times, for instance in the operator or Hilbert-Schmidt norm topologies. This system presents remarkable ellipticity properties that turn out to be crucial for the study of the infinite-time limit of its solution, which is proven under relatively weak, albeit probably not necessary, hypotheses on the initial data. This system of differential equations is the elliptic counterpart of an hyperbolic flow applied to quantum field theory to diagonalize Hamiltonians that are quadratic in the bosonic field. In a similar way, this elliptic flow, in particular its asymptotics, has application in quantum field theory: it can be used to diagonalize Hamiltonians that are quadratic in the fermionic field while giving new explicit expressions and properties of these pivotal Hamiltonians of quantum field theory and quantum statistical mechanics.
