Abstract:The relationship between Chiang Kai-shek and Hu Shi has been a popular topic in academic circles,and has even been given myriad symbolic meanings. Their relationship after the Guomindang regime fled to Taiwan in 1949 both continued their relationship during the mainland period,and also acquired new characteristics in Taiwan's environment. The release of Chiang Kai-shek's Taiwan-period diary has provided brand-new data for studying their relationship. Both Chiang Kai-shek and Hu Shi's diaries noted their contacts and their observations of each other,but the notes are very different,and we frequently encounter examples of "one incident with different narratives." The vivid contrast between Chiang Kai-shek's severe scolding of Hu Shi in his diary and his "courteous treatment" of Hu Shi in public lead us to ponder the wheels within wheels that lie underneath.

Abstract:In the wake of the rebellion led by An Lushan and Shi Siming in the middle Tang dynasty,great changes took place in women' ideas and status,which exerted a deep and far-reaching influence on the production and reception of the romance novels in the Tang dynasty.Against this social background,two narrative versions differing in Miss Liu's identity appeared during the spread of the story about Han Hong and Miss Liu,which revealed the tendency of depicting female characters as prostitutes in the romance novels in the middle and late Tang dynasty.This being the focus of our attention,this paper makes a comparative study on similar stories and tries to further uncover the social cause for the "scholar-prostitute" pattern as common practice in the stories about handsome scholars and pretty girls in the Tang dynasty.

Abstract:Scholars keep a positive view that Shiji extracted the War period historical facts from Zhanguoce,but Mr Zhao Shengqun holds different views.To Zhao Shengqun's way of thinking,there are 20 names in Shiji and Zhan- guoce,which are not identical,he thereby believed that the data in Shiji did not extract from Zhanguoce.In my point of view,14 suits among 28 in every corresponding item recorded the same person;and what's more,there are respec- tive reasons why the others are not the same.My conclusion is that the idea Shiji was extracted from Zhanguoce should not be denied.

Abstract:The Taiwanese authority is planning to revise high- school history textbook in order to seclude Taiwan from China.However, the relationship between Taiwan and the Mainland has been very close and can be found in historic annals. We canunder such close relationship, which debates back to at least 300 years ago, through reading the so- called “Zouzhe”written bythe Qing government to Taiwan. Relevant materials clearly reflected the close attention that the Qing authority paid to Taiwanregarding its economy, public security, and defense. The official documents of the Qing Dynasty are very valuable reference forstudies on the relationship between Taiwan and the Mainland.

Abstract:From the first research paper "the January Fresh Wind" on Yu Hua to May,2007,the research work on Yu Hua has developed for 23 years.Up to the present,the studies are launched form five aspects: First,in the aspect of the writer's literature view,the "spirit of truth" which Yu Hua advocates and the departure of his novels from the present situation by "the false form" are the main issues.Second,it is difficult to reach a consensus on the vanguard of the "pioneer spirit" and creative transformation.Third,in his novels' performance world,the critics have discovered several key words: violence,death,misery,desire.Fourth,in the research of the text form,the researchers constantly describe the works by narration language,the genre subversion,the repetition narrates,and such studies show "thinning" tendency.Fifth,in the impact of local and foreign levels,Lu Xun,Kawabata and Kafka are undoubtedly the objects which researchers are ready to compare with Yu Hua.

Abstract:“The Orphan of Zhao” written by Ji Junxiang who was a playwright in China’s Yuan Dynasty and “Hamlet” by William Shakespeare are two very classic literary works in East and the West, both with the theme of “revenge”. This article found that the similarities in revenge motif of the two works can be divided into four aspects: central themes、plot presentation、social background innuendo、political conspiracy. In the differences in revenge motif, there are obvious differences in three aspects: narrative form、means of Revenge、character portrayal. In-depth research found that the main reason for these similarities and differences is differences in cultural backgrounds.Through this comparative endeavor, we aim not only to highlight the divergent approaches to revenge between Eastern and Western literary traditions but also to deepen our comprehension of the unique characteristics, connotations, and cultural backgrounds inherent in these works. Moreover, this analysis endeavors to serve as a guiding framework for discerning common patterns in the developmental trajectory of literature across diverse ethnic groups. In essence, this study aspires to illuminate the rich tapestry of human storytelling while fostering a more profound appreciation for the multifaceted interplay between culture, society, and creative expression.
The Dating of Jin Ping Mei Cihua:The Relations Between the Novel and the Editions of Shuihu Zhuan

Abstract:Through careful collation and analysis,this paper calls into question the widely accepted view that the first five chapters of the traditional Chinese novel Jin Ping Mei Cihua come from an unabridged edition of Shuihu Zhuan.The author believes that some episodes of the novel such as Pan Jinlian poisoning her husband Wu Da come from this kind of edition while others,such as Wu Song fighting the tiger,could only be taken from an abridged edition.She supposes the author of Jin Ping Mei Cihua had only an incomplete unabridged edition of Shuihu Zhuan in hand when he wrote the novel and based the material missing from that text on an abridged edition.This paper also draws on Hu Yinglin's comments in Shaoshi Shanfang Bicong to date the novel to the years between 1573 and 1589.

However, in Shanghai where the economy is developing very fast, the relationship between the dialect and standard Chinese in the field of literature seems returned to the original state at the beginning of modern Chinese literature. With the development of contemporary and modern Chinese literature as a context and Shanghai writers as an example, this paper will analyze the great influence of standard Chinese and dialects on contemporary and modern Chinese literature, the different manifestation between Northern and Southern areas, and the complicated reasons of this phenomenon.

Abstract:Because of the Differences of views on the reality of history,the newly emerging writers in the Western China in 1990's wrote about the history of the Western China from differnet angles of view.Their literary works either probed into the essence and law of the development of history as well as praised patriotism,heroism and humanism by describing the grand spectacle of historical battles and dynastic changes or converted the accidental historical events and mysterious fates as well as worried about the historical tendency by describing the household affairs of individuals in a family or a village.Narrations on history from different angles of view resulted in the diversified historical literature of the Western China in 1990's.

Abstract:Through a series of textual research on the editor of Yutai Xinyong, the calls in question and negates the prevalent viewpoint that the literary the thought between Xiao Tong and Xiao Gang were completely opposed in the Liang State. He also holds that the concept of literature represented by Yutai Xinyong had changed a great deal since the Chen State. The primary factor for this kind of change was the appearance of female's literary thoughts. By offering additional evidence, the “Preface to Xianglian Ji” by Han Wo, the stresses his point that Yutai Xinyong was really not edited by Xu-Ling.

Abstract:Lu Xun held in his A Brief History of Traditional Chinese Fiction (Zhongguo Xiaoshuo Shilue) that the five short stories including Daye Shiyiji (A Recollected Story in the Reign of Daye), Meifei Zhuan (Imperial Concubine Mei) were actually written in the Song Dynasty. Due to the fact that LU Xun did not offer any concrete proof for the argument, later scholars have been doubting even negating this viewpoint. The present paper reaffirmed LU Xun's viewpoint mainly by way of such textual research as pointing out some words and phrases including names of some emperors which were avoided as taboo in the Tang Dynasty.
