The Current Situation and Strategies for the Development of the Professional in Middle School P.E. Teachers

Abstract:The authors think that there exists difficulty to understand and implement the professionalization of contemporary P.E.teachers in middle schools after a questionnaire covering 150 P.E.teachers in 15 middle schools located in 5 districts in Shanghai.The difficulty is manifested by the phenomenon that though the public are in a hot pursuit to take PE as their major,most of them lack the ability.The P.E.majors are unaware of the utmost goal of the major,unqualified for scientific researches.Besides,the prospect for the major is bleak.That's why we'd like to put forward the proposal to encourage the development of the P.E.majors in an all-round way,lay out a major development plan suitable for personal potentials and requirements,"learn to be a smart-learner",enhance cooperation and establish "the system of collaborative learning process".Thus,we can play an active role in promoting the reform on P.E.major courses in the institutions of higher learning.
