Abstract:We give two strategies for probabilistic dense coding under general pure state. It is shown that dense coding is not generally the reversion of teleportation. We also show that quantum channel is always better than classical one.

Abstract:Quantum teleportation is a quantum communication primitive that allows a long-distance quantum channel to be built using pre-shared entanglement and one-way classical communication. However, the quality of the established channel crucially depends on the quality of the pre-shared entanglement. In this work, we revisit the problem of using noisy entanglement for the task of teleportation. We first show how this problem can be rephrased as a state discrimination problem. In this picture, a quantitative duality between teleportation and dense coding emerges in which every Alice-to-Bob teleportation protocol can be repurposed as a Bob-to-Alice dense coding protocol, and the quality of each protocol can be measured by the success probability in the same state discrimination problem. One of our main results provides a complete characterization of the states that offer no advantage in one-way teleportation protocols over classical states, thereby offering a new and intriguing perspective on the long-standing open problem of identifying such states. This also yields a new proof of the known fact that bound entangled states cannot exceed the classical teleportation threshold. Moreover, our established duality between teleportation and dense coding can be used to show that the exact same states are unable to provide a non-classical advantage for dense coding as well. We also discuss the duality from a communication capacity point of view, deriving upper and lower bounds on the accessible information of a dense coding protocol in terms of the fidelity of its associated teleportation protocol. A corollary of this discussion is a simple proof of the previously established fact that bound entangled states do not provide any advantage in dense coding.

Abstract:We study the entanglement of entangled coherent states in vacuum environment by employing the entanglement of formation and propose a scheme to probabilistically teleport a coherent superposition state via entangled coherent states. The mean fidelity of the scheme is then investigated and the optimal amplitude of the teleported state found.

Abstract:We introduce photon-added entangled coherent states (unnormalized) : and investigate the entanglement by employing the entropy of entanglement. Then, we propose a scheme of probabilistic teleportation via photon-added entangled coherent states. It is shown that the mean fidelity of the scheme can be increased by exciting entangled coherent states in the case of nonmaximally entangled quantum channel. The violation of the Clauser–Horne–Shimony–Holt inequality for photon-added entangled coherent states is also examined.

Abstract:We examine dense coding with an arbitrary pure entangled state sharing between the sender and the receiver. Upper bounds on the average success probability in approximate dense coding and on the probability of conclusive results in unambiguous dense coding are derived. We also construct the optimal protocol which saturates the upper bound in each case.

Abstract:We present a dense coding scheme between one sender and two receivers, which guarantees that the receivers simultaneously obtain their respective messages. In our scheme, the quantum entanglement channel is first locked by the sender so that the receivers cannot learn their messages unless they collaborate to perform the unlocking operation. We also show that the quantum Fourier transform can act as the locking operator both in simultaneous dense coding and teleportation.

Abstract:There are two types of port-based teleportation (PBT) protocols: deterministic -- when the state always arrives to the receiver but is imperfectly transmitted and probabilistic -- when the state reaches the receiver intact with high probability. We introduce the minimal set of requirements that define a feasible PBT protocol and construct a simple PBT protocol that satisfies these requirements: it teleports an unknown state of a qubit with success probability $p_{succ}=1-\frac{N+2}{2^{N+1}}$ and fidelity $1-O(\frac{1}{N})$ with the resource state consisting of $N$ maximally entangled states. This protocol is not reducible from either the deterministic or probabilistic PBT protocol. We define the corresponding efficient superdense coding protocols which transmit more classical bits with fewer maximally entangled states. Furthermore, we introduce rigorous methods for comparing and converting between different PBT protocols.

Abstract:Teleporation with partially entangled quantum channel cannot achieve unit fidelity and unit probability. We show that the conditions for faithful teleportation of a pure state or a mixed state can be described by the same general relation $\rho_{q}\rho_{m} = pI$, where $\rho_{q}$ is the reduced density matrix of the quantum channel, $\rho_{m}$ is the reduced density matrix of the measurement basis, and $p$ is the probability of faithful teleportaion. We investigate the invariance of faithful teleportation conditions under unitary transformation. These results not only bring new insights to the probabilistic quantum teleportation theory, but also offer operational significance in that a simple procedure is provided to find out the faithful teleportaiton probability and the matching measurement basis for any partially entangled quantum channel.

Abstract:We consider the fundamental protocol of dense coding of classical information assuming that noise affects both the forward and backward communication lines between Alice and Bob. Assuming that this noise is described by the same quantum channel, we define its dense coding capacity by optimizing over all adaptive strategies that Alice can implement, while Bob encodes the information by means of Pauli operators. Exploiting techniques of channel simulation and protocol stretching, we are able to establish the dense coding capacity of Pauli channels in arbitrary finite dimension, with simple formulas for depolarizing and dephasing qubit channels.

Abstract:We discuss a scheme for probabilistic and controlled teleportation of an unknown arbitrary three-particle state by constructing a peculiar non-maximally entangled state as a controlled quantum channel, which is teleported between two sides with the help of the auxiliary particle and the cooperation of the third side (Charlie) as a supervisor. In comparison with some existing schemes, on the receiver's side it is easy to have the sender's state through operating two uniform unitary transformations in turn. In addition, we also give an efficient quantum network for implementing the new scheme by means of some primitive operations.

Abstract:It seems impossible to endow opportunistic characteristic to quantum network on the basis that quantum channel cannot be overheard without disturbance. In this paper, we propose an opportunistic quantum network coding scheme by taking full advantage of channel characteristic of quantum teleportation. Concretely, it utilizes quantum channel for secure transmission of quantum states and can detect eavesdroppers by means of quantum channel verification. What is more, it utilizes classical channel for both opportunistic listening to neighbor states and opportunistic coding by broadcasting measurement outcome. Analysis results show that our scheme can reduce the times of transmissions over classical channels for relay nodes and can effectively defend against classical passive attack and quantum active attack.

Abstract:In this paper we investigate the dense coding with a three-particle entangled state. In this case one party (Alice) can send information to the second party (Bob), whereas the local measurement of the third party (Cliff) serves as quantum erasure. Abstract:We consider the scenario of deterministic classical information transmission between multiple senders and a single receiver, when they a priori share a multipartite quantum state -- an attempt towards building a deterministic dense coding network. Specifically, we prove that in the case of two or three senders and a single receiver, generalized Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (gGHZ) states are not beneficial for sending classical information deterministically beyond the classical limit, except when the shared state is the GHZ state itself. On the other hand, three- and four-qubit generalized W (gW) states with specific parameters as well as the four-qubit Dicke states can provide a quantum advantage of sending the information in deterministic dense coding. Interestingly however, numerical simulations in the three-qubit scenario reveal that the percentage of states from the GHZ-class that are deterministic dense codeable is higher than that of states from the W-class.

Abstract:We investigate dense coding by imposing various locality restrictions to our decoder by employing the resource theory of asymmetry framework. In this task, the sender Alice and the receiver Bob share an entangled state. She encodes the classical information into it using a symmetric preserving encoder and sends the encoded state to Bob through a noiseless quantum channel. The decoder is limited to a measurement to satisfy a certain locality condition on the bipartite system composed of the receiving system and the preshared entanglement half. Our contributions are summarized as follows: First, we derive an achievable transmission rate for this task dependently of conditions of encoder and decoder. Surprisingly, we show that the obtained rate cannot be improved even when the decoder is relaxed to local measurements, two-way LOCCs, separable measurements, or partial transpose positive (PPT) measurements for the bipartite system. Moreover, depending on the class of allowed measurements with a locality condition, we relax the class of encoding operations to super-quantum encoders in the framework of general probability theory (GPT). That is, when our decoder is restricted to a separable measurement, theoretically, a positive operation is allowed as an encoding operation. Surprisingly, even under this type of super-quantum relaxation, the transmission rate cannot be improved. This fact highlights the universal validity of our analysis beyond quantum theory.

Abstract:A protocol of quantum dense coding with gravitational cat states is proposed. We explore the effects of temperature and system parameters on the dense coding capacity and provide an efficient strategy to preserve the quantum advantage of dense coding for these states. Our results might open new opportunities for secure communication and possibly insights into the fundamental nature of gravity in the context of quantum information processing.

Abstract:We study quantum secure direct communication by using a general preshared quantum state and a generalization of dense coding. In this scenario, Alice is allowed to apply a unitary on the preshared state to encode her message, and the set of allowed unitaries forms a group. To decode the message, Bob is allowed to apply a measurement across his own system and the system he receives. In the worst scenario, we guarantee that Eve obtains no information for the message even when Eve access the joint system between the system that she intercepts and her original system of the preshared state. For a practical application, we propose a concrete protocol and derive an upper bound of information leakage in the finite-length setting. We also discuss how to apply our scenario to the case with discrete Weyl-Heisenberg representation when the preshared state is unknown.
