Abstract:In this paper, we first prove the strong Birkhoff Ergodic Theorem for subharmonic functions with the irrational shift on the Torus. Then, we apply it to the analytic quasi-periodic Jacobi cocycles and show that for suitable frequency and coupling number, if the Lyapunov exponent of these cocycles is positive at one point, then it is positive on an interval centered at this point and Hölder continuous in \begin{document}$ E $\end{document} on this interval. What's more, if the coupling number of the potential is large, then the Lyapunov exponent is always positive for all irrational frequencies and Hölder continuous in \begin{document}$ E $\end{document} for all finite Liouville frequencies. For the Schrödinger cocycles, a special case of the Jacobi ones, its Lyapunov exponent is also Hölder continuous in the frequency and the lengths of the intervals where the Hölder condition of the Lyapunov exponent holds only depend on the coupling number.

Abstract:Recently, we proved the Griffiths conjecture on the boundedness of the period maps, and then used it to prove global Torelli theorem on the Torelli space under certain natural conditions. This paper serves as a review of these results and an introduction to the main ideas behind the proofs.

Abstract:When analytic quasi-periodic cocycles are defined on a high dimension torus, their Lyapunov exponents have perturbative positivity and continuity. In this article, we study a class of analytic quasi-periodic Jacobi cocycles defined on a two dimension torus. We show that in the non-perturbative large coupling regimes, the Lyapunov exponent is positive for any frequency and weak Holder continuous for the full-measured frequency.

Abstract:In this paper, we show the existence of non-contractible periodic orbits in Hamiltonian systems defined on T*T-n separating two Lagrangian tori under a certain cone assumption. Our result gives a positive answer to a question of Polterovich in [P]. As an application, we find periodic orbits in almost all the homotopy classes on a dense set of energy levels in Lorentzian type mechanical Hamiltonian systems defined on T*T-2. This solves a problem of Arnold in [A].

Abstract:The exact monotone twist map of infinite cylinders in the Birkhoff region of instability is studied. A Variational method based on Aubry-Mather theory is used to discover infinitely many non-Birkhoff periodic orbits of fixed rotation number sufficiently close to some irrational number for which the angular invariant circle does not exist.

Abstract:In this paper we study the following nonperiodic second order Hamiltonian system−u¨(t)+L(t)u(t)=∇uR(t,u),∀t∈R, where L(t) may not be uniformly positive definite for all t∈R, and R(t,u) is asymptotically quadratic in u as |u|→∞. By applying a generalized linking theorem in Bartsch and Ding (2006) [8], we obtain the existence and multiplicity of homoclinic orbits for the above system.

Abstract:The Petrie conjecture asserts that if a homotopy C P n \mathbb {CP}^n admits a non-trivial circle action, its Pontryagin class agrees with that of C P n \mathbb {CP}^n . Petrie proved this conjecture in the case where the manifold admits a T n T^n -action. An almost complex torus manifold is a 2 n 2n -dimensional compact connected almost complex manifold equipped with an effective T n T^n -action that has fixed points. For an almost complex torus manifold, there exists a graph that encodes information about the weights at the fixed points. We prove that if a 2 n 2n -dimensional almost complex torus manifold M M only shares the Euler number with the complex projective space C P n \mathbb {CP}^n , the graph of M M agrees with the graph of a linear T n T^n -action on C P n \mathbb {CP}^n . Consequently, M M has the same weights at the fixed points, Chern numbers, cobordism class, Hirzebruch χ y \chi _y -genus, Todd genus, and signature as C P n \mathbb {CP}^n , endowed with the standard linear action. Furthermore, if M M is equivariantly formal, the equivariant cohomology and the Chern classes of M M and C P n \mathbb {CP}^n also agree.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to extend the results associated with periodic orbits from two-dimensions to higher-dimensions. Because of the one-to-one correspondence between solutions for the monotone recurrence relation and orbits for the induced high-dimensional cylinder twist map, we consider the system of solutions for monotone recurrence relations instead. By introducing intersections of type ( k , l ), we propose the definition of generalized Birkhoff solutions, generalizing the concept of Birkhoff solutions. We show that if there is a ( p , q )-periodic solution which is not a generalized Birkhoff solution, then the system has positive topological entropy and the Farey interval of p / q is contained in the rotation set.

Abstract:This paper deals with the dynamics of linear Hamiltonian systems which have almost periodic Hamiltonians and symplectic phase transitions over almost periodic lattices. By introducing some discrete skew-product dynamical systems based on certain joint hulls of Hamiltonians and lattices, it will be proved that such a system admits a well-defined rotation number, which gives a global, topological understanding on the motion of these systems in symplectic groups and manifolds of Lagrangian planes.

Abstract:In this paper, we study Tonelli Lagrangian L is an element of C-r (TT2, R) with r >= 5. For a generic perturbation of Lagrangian L -> L + P where P is an element of C-r(T-2, R), we get simultaneous hyperbolicity of a family of minimal periodic orbits which share the same first homology class. Consequently, these periodic orbits make up one or more pieces of normally hyperbolic invariant cylinder in TT2.
On Fixed-Point Sets of $\Z_2$-Tori in Positive Curvature

Abstract:In recent work of Kennard, Khalili Samani, and the last author, they generalize the Half-Maximal Symmetry Rank result of Wilking for torus actions on positively curved manifolds to $\mathbb{Z}_2$-tori with a fixed point. They show that if the rank is approximately one-fourth of the dimension of the manifold, then fixed point set components of small co-rank subgroups of the $\Z_2$-torus are homotopy equivalent to spheres, real projective spaces, complex projective spaces, or lens spaces. In this paper, we lower the bound on the rank of the $\mathbb{Z}_2$-torus to approximately $n/6$ and $n/8$ and are able to classify either the integral cohomology ring or the $\mathbb{Z}_2$-cohomology ring, respectively, of the fixed point set of the $\mathbb{Z}_2$-torus.

A Birkhoff Normal Form Theorem for Partial Differential Equations on torus

Abstract:We prove an abstract Birkhoff normal form theorem for Hamiltonian partial differential equations on torus. The normal form is complete up to arbitrary finite order. The proof is based on a valid non-resonant condition and a suitable norm of Hamiltonian function. Then as two examples, we apply this theorem to nonlinear wave equation in one dimension and nonlinear Schrödinger equation in high dimension. Consequently, the polynomially long time stability is proved in Sobolev spaces $H^s$ with the index $s$ being much smaller than before. Further, by taking the iterative steps depending on the size of initial datum, we prove sub-exponentially long time stability for these two equations.

Abstract:We prove that for a torus homeomorphism isotopic to the identity and with a lift whose rotation set is an interval, either every rational point in the rotation set is realized by a periodic orbit, or there exists an annular, essential, periodic set. In the latter case we give a qualitative description of the dynamics.

Abstract:Using the relation between the Hill's equations and the Ermakov-Pinney equations established by Zhang [ ], we will give some interesting lower bounds of rotation numbers of Hill's equations. Based on the Birkhoff normal forms and the Moser twist theorem, we will prove that two classes of nonlinear, scalar, time-periodic, Newtonian equations will have twist periodic solutions, one class being regular and another class being singular.

Abstract:The goal of this paper is to provide a methodology to prove existence of (fiberwise hyperbolic) real-analytic invariant tori in real-analytic quasi-periodic skew-product dynamical systems that present nearly-invariant tori of the same characteristics. The methodology is based on the application of a Newton-Kantorovich theorem whose hypotheses are tested using Fourier analysis methods for a numerical approximation of the parameterization of an invariant torus.

Abstract:We prove that every Reeb flow on a closed connected three-manifold has either two or infinitely many simple periodic orbits, assuming that the associated contact structure has torsion first Chern class. As a special case, we prove a conjecture of Hofer-Wysocki-Zehnder published in 2003 asserting that a smooth and autonomous Hamiltonian flow on $\mathbb{R}^4$ has either two or infinitely many simple periodic orbits on any regular compact connected energy level that is transverse to the radial vector field. Other corollaries settle some old problems about Finsler metrics: we show that every Finsler metric on $S^2$ has either two or infinitely many prime closed geodesics; and we show that a Finsler metric on $S^2$ with at least one closed geodesic that is not irrationally elliptic must have infinitely many prime closed geodesics. The novelty of our work is that we do not make any nondegeneracy hypotheses.

Abstract:We study the singular SU (3) Toda system on a torus ( u + 2eu ev = 4nffi0 v + 2ev eu = 4n2ffi0 on E := C=(Z + Z); where ffi0 is the Dirac measure at 0 and n; n2 2 N. For the noncritical case 3 - (n2) where solutions always exists by [Battaglia et al. Adv. Math. 2015], we proved recently in [Chen-Lin, J. Differ. Geom. 2023] that the number of solutions is at most (n + 1)(n2 + 1)(n + n2 + 2)=6. This paper is the first one to study the critical case n2 = n + 3l with l 2 N, for which the apriori estimates do not hold and the (non-)existence of solutions has been a longstanding problem. We show that (i) When n; l are both odd, the Toda system has no even solutions. (ii) When n is odd and l is even, the Toda system always has even solutions, and each even solution belongs to a unique 2parametric family of even solutions (u;; v;), where ; > 0 can be arbitrary. Moreover, if 2 iR>0, i.e. E is a rectangular torus, then the number of 2-parametric families of even solutions is exactly n+1 2 and all these even solutions are axisymmetric. The asymptotics of (u;; v;) as ; ! 0; +1 are also studied. The case that n is even is quite different and the existence of even solutions depends on the geometry of the torus E. As applications, we obtain sharp existence and non-existence results for the SU (3) Toda system with four singular sources in the plane.
