Abstract:The studies of the poetry of the Han,Wei and Six Dynasties,which have developed in a new teaching and academic system,show a combination of classical scholarship and modern approaches and therefore have some representative significance in ancient literature studies.There is a long tradition of such studies and scholars have got new discourse from such fresh literary concepts as the theory of evolution,vernacular literature and popular literature to reconstruct or interpret the history of poetry,and discovered or discussed some new facts,thus making studies of yuefu poetry attract considerable academic attention.As such studies develop,facts begin to readjust scholars' notions and approaches and urge them to understand the history of poetry holistically and in a way that resonates with and even returns to classical scholarship.A combination of classical scholarship and new approaches is a good way of writing the history of poetry.It is necessary for researchers of literary history to reflect on how to integrate the classical and the modern,the west and China in their studies.

Abstract:In his manuscript Rong An Guan Zha Ji,Qian Zhongshu offers harsh criticism upon Xu Yueqing,the Neo-Confucian poet of the late Song dynasty.His critical remarks contain abundant poetic thoughts.With reference to the interrelated contents in Tan Yi Lu,Song shi Xuan zhu and Guan zhui Bian,we can interpretate the connotation of Mr.Qian's remarks.Meanwhile,we should also probe into Mr.Qian's brilliant views on the relationship among Neo-Confucianism,moral integrity,and the poetry of the late Song dynasty,and thus reexamine the position of such elements as Neo-Confucianism and moral integrity in Mr.Qian's poetry evaluation system.

Abstract:Poetics was compiled by Confucius'disciples who have attended his lectures on Poetry. Most prob ably it should be Zi Xia according to relative reference books. Dwelling upon th is problem now, one can discern that though there is ideological inheritance amo ng Poetics, Preface to Poetry, and Mao Zhuan , there is considerable difference, especially regarding to Guan Ju and other six articles. Instead of being written by Zi Xia himself,Preface to Poetry is the product of the systematic research on Poetry starting from Zi Xia. Nevertheless, both Preface to Poetry and Mao Zhuan represent similarities with Poetics, which is of great importance for us to recognize the inh eritance of Poetics study.

Abstract:Yang Xiong's stylistic writings include shudu,zhen,ming,song,lei,dui,nan,fu,jieandlianzhu.Among them,there are the original jie and lianzhu,the reformative fu and zhen as well as the inherited ming and song.Therefore,Yang Xiong's writings have the characteristics of extensiveness and reformativeness.To establish and reform literary forms is a way for Yang Xiong to dispel the awareness of unexpected development caused by the loss of Confucian spirit in the Western Han Dynasty.

Abstract:Maturity of literary creation embodies in the conscientious grasp of the relation of return and change and it also determines the literary position of the author in history. GONG Zi-zhen is not placed properly in poetic history due to the lack of study on his regard of relation of return and change. His entire academic articles show his opposition to contemporary trend and his support of an?cient tradition and his poem is opposed to Shengping style of Qing Dynasty. His subjective orienta?tion in poetics transcends that of Ming and Qing Dynasty and even partly that of Tang and Song Dy?nasty and becomes a return to Han and Wei and the Six Dynasties till that in The Book of Songs and LiSao. Under this artistic guidance, GONG innovates in style, meter and methods of his poems and in other word, turns the ancient to innovative.

Abstract:In the literary theory and aesthetics research after 1949, Zhou Xian has formulated the literary discourse norms but also deconstructed the challenge of literary rules. He is consciously introducing vanguard western theories and meanwhile reflects on the introduction of the theoretical studies to social practices. It is in the literary criticism to cultural criticism, aesthetics to trans-aesthetics, and the experts to the amateur that Zhou Xian presents an image of such a cross-border impulse, wandering viewpoint, theoretical openness and critical intervention. His humanistic thoughts reveal the radical aesthetic edge and retain the rational judgment. He is a mental wanderer rather a spoiler in the system.

Abstract:The prose poem theory in China began in Han Dynasty and developed into a pattern of criticism from “prose poem function” to“prose poem entity” and “prose poem method”, and Western Han and Eastern Han Dynasties are the period in which the prose poem theory established and took on its change.The prose poem theory, represented by“allegory theory” and“elegance theory” proposed by Sima Qian and Yang Xiong respectively in Western Han Dynasty constitutes the fundamental part of the theory of prose poem function;while Shi Fu Lue of Liu Xiang and Liu Xin, and Liang Du Fu Xu of Ban Gu witnessed the change of the theory of prose poem function from Western Han Dynasty to Eastern Han Dynasty in discourse, study context, and political and educational thoughts.The prose poem study of Huan Tan, Wang Chong, Ban Gu, Zhang Heng, and others in Eastern Han Dynasty, on one hand, declares the functional view of prose poem scholars who advocate rites;on the other hand, shows an implicit change from the theory of prose poem function in Han Dynasty to the theory of prose poem entity in Wei and Jin Dynasties.

Abstract:In Tan Long Lu,Zhao Zhi-xin severely criticized Wang Shi-zhen.As such criticism related to the shift in poetry style during the reign of Kangxi,Yongzheng and Qianlong,it caught wide attention and complicated reactions among people both of that time and of later generations.In the first part,the article sheds light on comments made by people of Qing Dynasty on Zhao and Wang's different ideas toward poetry.Then concerning dispute over when Tan Long Lu was written,it provides evidence to prove that the date indicated in the preface by Zhao Zhi-xin was credible and Zhao's attitude towards literary criticism was based on honesty and objectivity rather than personal grievance with Wang Shi-zhen.In this regard,the article further explores the profound influence of Tan Long Lu on promoting the shift in poetry style and inspiring Shen De-qian,Yuan Mei and Weng Fang-gang to put forward theories on poetry of their own.
On the Variation of the Versions of Zhouyi Zhu Shu and Additional Remarks on Ruan＇s Version of Zhouyi Zheng Yi

Abstract:The combination in inscribing WANG Bi＇s Annotations and KONG Ying-da＇s further explanations of the Zhouyi started from the eight-line version of the Southern Song Tea Salt Department. Then,there also appeared ten-line versions. It was based on ten-line versions that RUAN Yuan＇s Chong kan shisan jin zhu shu （Re-inscribed Annotations and Further Explanations of the Thirteen Confucian Classics） was completed. Scholars had pointed out that ten-line versions were inscribed in the Yuan dynasty and revised in the Ming dynasty. However,we should clarity the transmission of different ten-line versions. The ten-line version on which RUAN Yuan＇s version was based was a version which contains most errors. By examining RUAN＇s re-inscription,we can find that the mistake occurred in the selection of the master copy but not in the inscribing works. Meanwhile,basing on the case of Zhouyi zheng yi （Rectification of the Meanings of the Zhouyi）,it can be seen that the relationship between the ten-line version and Min,Jian,and Mao＇s versions is not merely a successive transmission asserted by the past literati. As a matter of fact,Min＇s version was based on a nine-line version inscribed in the Yuan dynasty from which the revised ten-line version of the Ming dynasty was derived. In the multitude of versions of the Zhouyi zhu shu,the version of Wu yin dian （Hall of Martial Valor） and that of Si ku （Four Treasuries） are easily neglected,whereas these versions are characteristic both in the collation and division of volumes.

Abstract:Chen Quan, a Neo-literary writer from the Critical Review, is a success scholar in many fields in the history of modern scientific thought. He has many kinds of works such as poetry, novel, play, dramatic theory and researching works on German philosophy. As a scholar, he has works about comparison of Chinese and German literatures and some works on dramatic theory and works on modern German philosophers. For the first time, the thesis clarified Chen Quan's personal condition by historical investigation.
On the Relationship between A Classified Anthology of Popular Chinese Poems with Liu Kezhuang and Jianghu Poetic School

Abstract:Scholars have had different opinions on the editor and the value of the book entitled A Classified Anthology of Popular Chinese Poems in Tang and Song Dynasties(《分门纂类唐宋时贤千家诗选》),which was formerly inscribed as "compiled by Hou Cun".Through an analysis of the relationship between this anthology and the six different selected works of four-lined poems(绝句)from the Tang and Song Dynasties,which were compiled by Liu Kezhuang,we can find that this anthology was based on the six selected works of popular poems compiled by Liu,which reflected the poetic thinking of Jianghu Poetic School in its later period.Its seven-character four-lined style was most influential upon its later generations of poets,and was mostly inherited by the anthologies of popular poems compiled in its later periods.This anthology can be regarded as a collective reconstructing of the history of Tang and Song Poetry by the poetic circles in the late Southern Song Dynasty,whose mainstream was Jianghu Poetic School.Therefore this anthology had its important reference value in understanding the evolution of the history of poetry in the late Southern Song Dynasty,and also played a significant role in establishing the position of Song poems in the history of Chinese poetry.Besides,we discussed some changes of Jianghu Poetic School in the process of its development,and also pointed out the difference between this anthology and the poetic ideas of the four poets during the reign of the Emperor Yongjia(永嘉四灵).In this article,we also discussed the poetic thinking of Liu Kezhuang.

Abstract:He Zhuo was a commentator in early Qing dynasty.This paper studies his poem criticism,taking Li Shangyin's poems as example.For him,criticism was academic reach exactly.He connected textual research and criticism,which guided a new way of criticism.And he fabricated his poem theory by criticism,overmatch criticism in Ming dynasty which was just the emotion in the reading.What's more his criticism had academic value because he commented on the base of textual research.So his criticism had great academic and poetic value.

Abstract:Rhythm and rhyming is of critical importance in content besides its formal significance.The historical facts of Yongming Poetry indicated that Yongming Rhythm and Rhyming effectively influenced the structural relations at all levels of poetry,projecting the structural antithesis and leaps.The new poetic struc-ture coordinated with the significant reform of the poetic content during the Yongming Period which developed from prosaic lyric styles centered on narration and argumentation to more poetic lyric styles centered on inner feelings.The reform of content is of epoch-making significance for it marked the further maturity of genre of po-etry on its own and further distinguished itself from the genre of prose.It is safe to say that Yongming Rhythm and Rhyming was an important support to the content reform of Yongming poetry.Accordingly,the rhyming of the later modern-style poetry was an important support to the expression of modern-style poetic content.The function of rhythm and rhyming like this was not only evident in poetry,but also pervasive to different degrees in Cifu (a literary form,often rhymed)and Pianwen (a rhythmical prose).

Abstract:A comparative criticism of HAN Yu's classical prose and SIMA Qian's Shi Ji,as an important part of the history of HAN Yu's criticism,had been concentrated on such issues as their works' differences in sentiment,temperament and showing their hands of mastery after their straitened life,particularly in their style and grammar,with the focuses of attention dispersed a bit too much at the early stage.Since middle Ming Dynasty,directed against the sole reverence for the grammatical arrangement of the Qin and Han Dynasties and imitating the outer-appearance but neglecting inner-essence,the style of concurrently taking in Tang and Song Schools had begun to form the self-consciousness of comparison with SIMA Qian's Shi Ji as the reference,and with quintessence and distinctive character stressed most.This shift is an act of succeeding to the right tradition of classical prose and a product of basing prose on the Tang and Song Dynasties and getting to the root of the Qin and Han Dynasties.This idea both was an important methodology of research,but also formed the core content of the theory of classical prose writing on the basis of the theory of comparison emphasizing the literary tradition and imitation.

Abstract:This article focused on one sect of historical sources in Yunlu Manchao, an academic work compiled by Zhao Yanwei of South Song dynasty. It was from a note of one map about Chang’an city written by Lü Dafang of North Song dynasty. Mainly I interpuncted this source again for there were many faults in several printed editions of Yunlu Manchao and revised the characters referring to the former studies. I also pointed out that it was viable to restore the note by Lü Dafang based on Yunlu Manchao.

Abstract:Liu Wenqi advocated, in his Notes and Examples, ChunQiu Zuoshi Zhuan Jiuzhu Shuzheng, that explanation of Spring and Autumn Annuls must involve corroboration with the Zhouli Rites, which set the study of Zuo Zhuan to its starting point in Han Dynasty. This has traced the origin of the previous commentaries by former Confu-cianists. Meanwhile, it has drawn a clear demarcation line with the study of Gong Yang Zhuang in Han and Qing Dynasties in regard to the true meaning of Confucian classics and research method. Besides, Liu Wemqi further clarified misunderstandings of notes and examples in Du Yu's explanation of Zuo Zhuan. His descendants illustrated the contents of the Zhouli Rites and extended the introductory study of Shu Zheng to three domains of study. Thus constructed the Liu's system of Zuo Zhuan research.

Abstract:In the movement of returning to the ancient pomes in the midst of Ming Dynasty,Xie Zhen as a theorist of poem emphases that good poems come naturally from the deep and true feelings of poets,and to learn the ancients is to learn their skills of writing and attitudes in poems. Abstract:Comparative poetics studies has currently become the mainstream of comparative literature studies in China and Chinese context.The comparative poetics scholars,employing the perspectives of Western hermeneutics and related theories as their academic references to study Chinese Confucian poetics,are in fact standing in the position of the third kind of poetics which integrates Chinese and Western poetics and makes something new.As Liu Xin(ca.50 B.C.-23 A.D.)'s earlier defining of "Jing" in the Triple Concordance Calendar(Santong Li),"Jing is the First and the One which governs the beginning," that is,an ontological notion.Compared with "Tao" in the poetics of Laozi and Zhuangzi,"Jing" is a hidden ontological category which serves as the root of Confucian poetics.Therefore,it is only through the belief in "Jing"that Confucian intellectuals can confirm the significance and value of the Way of the Sage.In the essay entitled "Confucianism"(Ru Shu) in 1934,Lu Xun(1881-1936) satirized Yuan Haowen and Zhang Dehui(1195—1275) who honored Borjigin Kublai(1215—1294),the Grand Progenitor of the Yuan Dynasty as "Grand Confucian Master." However,in the 21st century,Confucianism has gone global as a universal belief.Compared to the real Confucians,the Gong Yang scholars who employed the Confucian classics to discuss politics,the greatest regret of the contemporary Chinese academia is the lack of interventional public intellectuals.
