Abstract:Let R be a ring. The following results are proven.1. If R is semilocal, right Kasch and right simple-injective, then R is semiperfect, left and right finitely cogenerated.2. If R is left perfect, right simple-injective and left (or right) pseudo-coherent, then R is QF.3. If R is semilocal, right CF and right mininjective, then R is QF.4. R is strongly regular if and only if R is a weakly right duo ring whose simple singular left R-modules are GP-injective.

Abstract:A ring R is called left IP-injective if every homomorphism from a left ideal of R into R with principal image is given by right Multiplication by an element of R. It is shown that R is left IP-injective if and only if R is left P-injective and left GIN (i.e., r(I boolean AND K) = r(I) + r(K) for each pair of left ideals I and K of R with I principal). We prove that R is QF if and only if R is right noetherian and left IP-injective if and only if R is left perfect, left GIN and right simple-injective. We also show that, for a right CF left GIN-ring R, R is QF if and only if Soc(R(R)) subset of or equal to Soc(R(R)). Two examples are given to show that an IP-injective ring need not be self-injective and a right IP-injective ring is not necessarily left IP-injective respectively.

Abstract:Let m and n be fixed positive integers and M a right R-module. Recall that M is said to be (m,n)-injective if Ext(R)(1) (P,M) = 0 for any (m,n)-presented right R-module P; M is called (m,n)-flat at if Tor(1)(R) (M,Q) = 0 for any (m,n)-presented left R-module Q. In this article, M is defined to be (m,n)-projective (resp. (m,n)-cotorsion) if Ext(R)(1) (M,N) = 0 (resp. Ext(R)(1) (N,M) = 0) for any (m,n)-injective (resp. (m,n)-flat) right R-module N. These concepts are used to characterize von Neumann regular rings and (m,n)-coherent rings. Some known results are extended.

Abstract:We introduce and study a new class of generalized inverses in rings. An element a in a ring R has generalized Zhou inverse if there exists <math>b∈R</math> such that <math>bab=b,b∈comm2(a),an−ab∈J(R)</math> for some <math>n∈N.</math> We prove that <math>a∈R</math> has generalized Zhou inverse if and only if there exists <math>p=p2∈comm2(a)</math> such that <math>an−p∈J(R)</math> for some <math>n∈N.</math> Cline's formula and Jacobson's lemma for generalized Zhou inverses are established. In particular, the Zhou inverse in a ring is characterized.

Abstract:In this paper, we generalize ordinary derivation and Jordan derivation of a ring to the concepts of P-derivation and P-Jordan derivation of a ring respectively. Some properties, e.g. the composition of P-derivations and P-Jordan derivations, are given. Moreover, it proved that if R/P(R) is 2-torsion free for a ring R and its prime radical P(R), P-Jordan derivations of R are P-derivations. More mainly, some conclusions on the commutativity of R/I and R/P(R) are obtained via P-derivations and P-Jordan derivations, for a prime ideal I of R.

Abstract:A complex C of R-modules is called #-injective if all terms Ci are injective R-modules for i ∈ ℤ. In this paper, we first give some characterizations and properties of #-injective complexes. Some relations between #-injective (pre)envelopes of a complex X and injective (pre)envelopes of the R-modules Xi are also given. Finally, we study the [Formula: see text]-dimensions of complexes, where [Formula: see text] is the class of #-injective complexes.

Abstract:In this paper, we study modules having the property that are invariant under some idempotent endomorphisms of its injective envelope. Such modules are called essentially Ï€ -injective. It is shown that (1) M is essentially Ï€ -injective iff for any essentially finite direct summand X 1 of M and any submodule X 2 of M with X1âˆ©X2=0 , there exists a direct summand X 0 of M containing X 2 such that M=X1âŠ•X0 , (2) M is essentially Ï€ -injective iff M is an ef-extending right R -module and for any decomposition M=M1âŠ•M2 with M 1 essentially finite, M 1 and M 2 are relatively injective, (3) if M is essentially Ï€ -injective and R satisfies ACC on right ideals of the form r ( m ), mâˆˆM , then M is a direct sum of uniform submodules. We also describe rings via essentially Ï€ -injective modules. It is shown that R is a semisimple artinian ring iff the direct sum of any two essentially Ï€ -injective right R -modules is essentially Ï€ -injective.

On $R$-Coneat Injective Modules and Generalizations

Abstract:Both the classes of $R$-coneat injective modules and its superclass, pure Baer injective modules, are shown to be preenveloping. The former class is contained in another one, namely, self coneat injectives, i.e. modules $M$ for which every map $f$ from a coneat left ideal of $R$ into $M$, whose kernel contains the annihilator of some element in $M$, is induced by a homomorphism $R \rightarrow M$. Certain types of rings are characterized by properties of the above modules. For instance, a commutative ring $R$ is von Neuman regular if and only if all self coneat injective $R$-modules are quasi injective.

On generalized deformation problems

Abstract:Let $(R,m)$ be a Noetherian local ring and $I$ an ideal with finite projective dimension. If $R/I$ satisfies some property $\mathcal{P}$, it is natural to ask whether $R$ would also satisfy this property $\mathcal{P}$. This is called the generalized deformation problem. In this paper we discuss some properties that would satisfy this problem. There are two main parts for this paper. In the first part we focus on F-singularities of characteristic $p$. We show that F-injective satisfies this problem for the Cohen-Macaulay ring case and F-rational satisfies this problem for the excellent ring case. In the second part there is no restriction on the characteristic of $R$, we show that when $R$ is catenary and equidimensional with $I$ perfect, then the Serre's Condition $R_k$ would satisfy the problem. And the Serre's Condition $S_k$, $R_k+S_{k+1}$, normal rings, reduced rings and domains would always satisfy this problem.

For two [Formula: see text]-invertible elements [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] if and only if [Formula: see text]. Moreover, we give a characterization of [Formula: see text]-inverses, and the absorption law for [Formula: see text]-inverses is studied.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce a new generalization of coherent rings. Let m be a positive integer and d a positive integer or d = infinity. A ring R is called a left (m, d)-coherent ring in case every m-presented left R-module N with pd(N) <= d is (m + l)-presented. It is shown that there are many similarities between coherent rings and (m, d)-coherent rings. Some applications are also given.

Abstract:Let R be a ring, and n and d fixed non-negative integers. An R-module M is called (n, d)-injective if Ext d+1 R (P, M) = 0 for any n-presented R-module P. M is said to be (n, d)-projective if Ext1 R (M, N) = 0 for any (n, d)-injective R-module N. We use these concepts to characterize n-coherent rings and (n, d)-rings. Some known results are extended.
Injectivity theorems and cubical descent for schemes, stacks, and analytic spaces

Abstract:We prove relative injectivity, torsion-freeness, and vanishing theorems for generalized normal crossing pairs on schemes, algebraic stacks, formal schemes, semianalytic germs of complex analytic spaces, rigid analytic spaces, Berkovich spaces, and adic spaces locally of weakly finite type over a field, all in equal characteristic zero. We give a uniform proof for all these theorems in all the categories of spaces mentioned above, which were previously only known for varieties and complex analytic spaces due to work of Ambro and Fujino. Ambro and Fujino's results are integral in the proofs of the fundamental theorems of the minimal model program for (semi-)log canonical pairs and the theory of quasi-log structures. Our results resolve a significant barrier to extending these results on (semi-)log canonical pairs and quasi-log structures beyond the setting of varieties and complex analytic spaces. In order to prove our most general injectivity theorems, we generalize to all these categories of spaces a criterion due to Guillén and Navarro Aznar characterizing when functors defined on smooth varieties extend to all varieties. This extension result uses cubical hyperresolutions, which we construct in all categories of spaces mentioned above. Our extension result is very general and is of independent interest. We use this extension result to prove our injectivity theorems for generalized normal crossing pairs. We also apply our extension result to develop the theoretical foundations for the Deligne-Du Bois complex in these categories of spaces and to construct a weight filtration on the (pro-)étale cohomology of schemes and rigid analytic spaces. These results establish some aspects of Deligne-Hodge theory in all categories of spaces mentioned above.

Injective generation for graded rings

Abstract:In this paper we investigate injective generation for graded rings. We first examine the relation between injective generation and graded injective generation for graded rings. We then reduce the study of injective generation for graded rings to the study of injective generation for certain Morita context rings and we provide sufficient conditions for injective generation of the latter. We then provide necessary and sufficient conditions so that injectives generate for tensor rings and for trivial extension rings. We provide two proofs for the class of tensor rings, the one uses covering theory and the other uses the framework of cleft extensions of module categories. We finally prove injective generation for twisted tensor products of finite dimensional algebras.

Abstract:Let R be a ring, n a fixed nonnegative integer and In (Fn) the class of all left (right) R-modules of injective (flat) dimension at most n. A left R-module M (resp., right R-module F) is called n-copure injective (resp., n-copure flat) if Ext1(N,M)=0 (resp., Tor1(F,N)=0) for any N∈In. It is shown that a left R-module M over any ring R is n-copure injective if and only if M is a kernel of an In-precover f:A→B of a left R-module B with A injective. For a left coherent ring R, it is proven that every right R-module has an Fn-preenvelope, and a finitely presented right R-module M is n-copure flat if and only if M is a cokernel of an Fn-preenvelope K→F of a right R-module K with F flat. These classes of modules are also used to construct cotorsion theories and to characterize the global dimension of a ring under suitable conditions.

Abstract:A ring extension is a ring homomorphism preserving identities. In this paper, we give the definitions of relative injective envelopes and relative projective covers of modules on ring extensions, and study their basic properties. In particular, we give their equivalent characterizations in terms of relative essential monomorphisms and relative superfluous epimorphisms, and prove that relative injective envelopes and relative projective covers on ring extensions are unique up to isomorphism whenever they exist. Moreover, for an extension of Artin algebras, we show that every finitely generated module has both a relative injective envelope and a relative projective cover. In addition, we compare relative injective envelopes and relative projective covers on two ring extensions linked by surjective homomorphisms of rings respectively.
