An Analysis of the Cultural Meaning of Foot-binding Antagonistic Characteristics

Abstract:As the Chinese special cultural phenomenon from meddle century,the topic for discussion of foot binding has apparent features of complexity,contradiction and contrariety.We can see at least four groups' opposite features in the aspect of foot binding's cultural meaning: female evil passions and anti-free chastity;damage lack of filial piety and text content ornaments;racial glory and national humiliation;pass devastated in touch with friends.Examine the of foot binding cultural meaning opposing characteristics,can reveal the four-point theory of foot binding culture significance: foot binding difference and diversity,the Zhao significant for future research in space;the bound feet of women and cultural features,outstanding performance level of the theory of gender self-identity;foot-binding in the gender relations,revealing the interaction and consistency of both sexes;as the physical topic of discussion,foot binding owes abundant content of probe.
