Abstract:Neuropeptide Y(NPY),one of the most abundant neuropeptides,is widely distributed in the central and peripheral nervous system.NPY and NPY receptors by which the effects of NPY are transduced are totally called NPY system.Previous studies revealed that NPY system had particular relevance with stress reaction and affective disorders,this review summarizes the new progress of NPY system studies in stress and major depressive disorder.
