Abstract:Global asymptotic stability of the following difference equationxn=A1nxn-i1+A2nxn-i2+A3nxn-i3xn-i4B1nxn-i1xn-i2+B2nxn-i3+B3nxn-i4,n=0,1,…,is studied,where,{A1n}+∞n=0,{A2n}+∞n=0,{A3n}+∞n=0,{B1n}+∞n=0,{B2n}+∞n=0,{B3n}+∞n=0 are sequences of nonnegative real numbers,i1,i2,i3,i4∈{1,2,…},α=max{i1,i2,i3,i4} and the initial conditions x-1,x-2,…,x-α∈(0,∞).A sufficient condition under which the unique equilibrium of this equation is globally asymptotically stable is obtained.

Abstract:We consider the family of difference equations of the form xn+1=∑i∈Zk+2−{j,l}xn−i+xn−jxn−l+A∑i∈Zk+2−{s,t}xn−i+xn−sxn−t+A,n=0,1,…, where k∈{0,1,…}, j,l,s,t∈Zk+2≡{0,1,…,k+2} with j≠l and s≠t, A is nonnegative and the initial values x−k−2,x−k−1,…,x0 are positive real numbers. For these difference equations, we prove that the unique equilibrium x¯=1 is globally asymptotically stable.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a higher order difference equation of the form xn+1=f(xn,xn−k),n=1,2,3,…, under some certain assumptions. We obtain that the length of its finite semicycle is less than or equal to k. Moreover, we concluded that the equation is permanent under some special conditions. And a sufficient condition for its global asymptotical stability is given. When these results are applied to the difference equation xn+1=α+xn−kxn,n=1,2,3,…, some sufficient and necessary conditions of global asymptotical stability of the equation are obtained. We should state out that the main theorem in [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 233 (1999) 790–798] is included in one of our results.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the global stability of the difference equation xn+1=xna+a0xn+⋯+akxn-k,n=0,1,…, where the parameters a,ai∈(0,∞) for i=0,…,k, x-k,…, x-1∈[0,∞) and x0∈(0,∞). We prove that the unique positive equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable if and only if it is locally asymptotically. Also we provide sufficient condition for it to be globally asymptotically stable and our results solve the open problem proposed by Kulenović and Ladas (Dynamics of Second Order Rational Difference Equations with Open Problems and Conjectures, Chapman & Hall/CRC, Boca Raton, 2002).

We show that the unique negative equilibrium of the equation is a global attractor with a basin that depends on certain conditions of the coefficient.

Abstract:AbstractLi and Zhu [Applied Mathematics and Computation, 150 (2004) 481] studied the difference equationx"n=x"n"-"1x"n"-"2+x"n"-"3+ax"n"-"1+x"n"-"2x"n"-"3+a,n=1,2,...where a>=0. They claimed that the unique positive equilibrium of the equation is globally asymptotically stable. Unfortunately, there is a subtle mistake in their proof. In this paper, we present a correct proof for this claim.

Abstract:This paper aims to investigate the global stability of negative solutions of the difference equation x(n+1) = (alpha + beta x(n-k))/(gamma + x(n)), n = 0, 1, 2, ... , where the initial conditions x(-k), ... , x(0) is an element of (-infinity, 0), k is a positive integer, and the parameters beta, gamma < 0, alpha > 0. By utilizing the invariant interval and periodic character of solutions, it is found that the unique negative equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable under some parameter conditions. Additionally, two examples are given to illustrate the main results in the end.
