Abstract:Higher education plays a pivotal role in society's sustainable development. In practice there are many obstacles deterring higher education for sustainable development, such as desciplinary entrenchment, lack of awareness and organizational problems. Abstract:With the reform in the last 30 years,the great reform and development have taken place in the higher education in China,that is,after great reform and development,the higher education has stepped into the stage of great improvement—to improve the quality and standard of higher education.Nowadays,the higher education in China is again at a key moment and to a new platform,which has two meanings: one is the platform for constructing a strong country of higher education;another is the platform for implementing Medium-and Long-term National Educational Reform and Development Plan.There are five points in understanding the Plan: strengthening education in China,reform is the motive force,quality is the focus,improving the standard of internationalization,and establishing the thought theory of higher education with Chinese characteristics.

Abstract:Taking China's higher education policy as the research object, this paper conducts a comprehensive and in-depth research on the historical evolution of China's higher education policy, current policy analysis, policy effect evaluation and challenges and countermeasures by using the historical analysis method, policy analysis method and effect evaluation method. The study found that China's higher education policy has experienced three stages of historical evolution before the reform and opening up, since the reform and opening up to the end of the 20th century, and from the beginning of the 21st century to the present, and the policies at each stage have had an important impact on the development of higher education. Currently, China's higher education policy has achieved remarkable results in terms of macro management, micro operation and characteristic development, but it still faces problems such as uneven distribution of educational resources and equity and opportunity in higher education. In response to these problems, this paper puts forward a series of countermeasure suggestions to optimise the higher education policy system and strengthen policy implementation and evaluation. In the future, China's higher education policy should focus on innovation and reform to promote the sustainable and healthy development of higher education.

Abstract:During the 1920s and early 30's,with rapid increase in the number of higher education institutions(HEIs) in China,there appeared a noticeable decrease in their teaching quality.People at that time criticized this situation and proposed some suggestions for solving the problems.Most of them,no matter they were Chinese or foreigners,thought that the major problems with China's higher education were the following: indiscriminate founding of HEIs,imbalanced geographical distribution of HEIs,improper academic departmental structure,as well as inefficiency in education.Other problems include: too many specialized schools,esp.private schools,had been upgraded into universities;the number of liberal arts colleges and arts students far exceeded that of polytechnic institutes and science students;HEIs mostly were located in metropolises such as Peking and Shanghai;moonlighting were very common among faculty,etc.The above-mentioned problems did exist,but those comments on schools' teaching quality were not all true.

Abstract:The higher education institutions in Nigeria particularly the universities, have drawn a considerable amount of scholarly attention, critics, and sympathizers alike. With so much available documentation, giving a detailed report on the development of higher education in Nigeria will be more appropriate in the form of a book. This paper aims to capture a summarized version of available documentation on the subject. The paper traces briefly the history and development of higher education in Nigeria from colonial to the present (post-colonial) Nigeria. Also, a brief discussion on the methods or systems of education that was present in pre-colonial Nigeria. Universities (public universities) as institutions of higher education shall be the focal point of this paper. This is because they are the point of reference globally whenever the terms higher education or higher institutions are mentioned. For the viability of the nation’s development, efficient performance of the higher education system is required. Therefore, the economic impact and the problems facing the development of higher education were also discussed.

Abstract:In the process of higher education popularization,the development of higher education in our country is not balanced,which is harmful for future development. After the goal of higher education popularization is achieved,we should explore the unbalanced development tendency of higher education in China,starting with the gross enrollment rate of higher education. We should also adjust according to the law to accomplish the transformation of China's higher education popularization from "quantity" to "quality". In this paper,the model life tables are used to predict the college-age population (aged 18 to 22 years old) in the next 15 years in the country's different areas. Thus,the gross enrollment rate is calculated for the next 15 years,and the trend of internal geographical structure differences in higher education popularization is analyzed. The purpose is to find out how to adjust the internal structure in the development of higher education popularization.

Abstract:The article is devoted to the analysis of general trends and characteristics of the current state of the Chinese education system. The author analyzes the dynamics of important indicators of education development, such as the number of universities, the number of university students, the ratio of students to the total population, as well as some qualitative indicators. Much attention was paid to the importance and prospects of state support for all levels of the Chinese education system. As recommendations, the necessity of creating state (federal) and regional systems for forecasting and monitoring the current and future needs of the labor market in personnel of various specialties and qualifications, including taking into account global trends, is justified; the creation of a modern, mobile and flexible system of continuing professional education (as an integral part of the general system of continuing education), including vocational education at all levels.

Abstract:Higher education has entered the stage of popularization in China. At the end of the 20th century, the Chinese government made a major decision to accelerate the development of higher education. To the 21st century, the scale of higher education has expanded unprecedentedly. The rapid increase in Numbers has caused many quality problems. It has attracted more and more attention of scholars and society how to develop higher education with high quality. In view of the problem, this paper provides an overview of higher education quality assurance in the world, including its rise, development and new trend. To adapt to higher education globalization, we should further deepen reform and innovation, and accelerate the construction and improvement of quality assurance to effectively improve high education quality. Of course, we also do it from the advanced experience of developed countries and reality in China. So we will take measures to improve higher education quality in China in future. We can also call it prospect for higher education quality. For example, there will be special policy and legal basis for quality assurance, professional certification evaluation system, national quality standards, reform and innovation. In fact, we will meet difficulties. And we should make decision to face reality. Altogether, the ultimate aim is to improve promote the good development of higher education quality.

Abstract:Reviewing the recent development of international higher education, one can find a general tendency: Americanization. Whether it is in Europe or in Asia, US higher education has been used as model for inspiration of regional integration or reform. This is especially the case in China. Since 1978, Chinese higher education has experienced a system shift from the Soviet model to the US model. But Chinese higher education is still Chinese, though it has borrowed many ideas from the US. Experiences show that contextualization of American ideas produced the uniqueness and the specific problems for Chinese higher education. This paper will discuss some of the unique characteristics.
